I'm feeling compelled to write a review today however because I felt cheated by the egg salad sandwich I got there. They front load the filling so it appears to be a nice, full sandwich, but no! The rest is empty! Just white bread and a filmy piece of lettuce. It's not the sandwich as much as the dishonesty I'm raising here. If you need to charge more, go ahead, but this fakery only works once and makes me not want to come back. Worse, I think everyone should know so they can make the choice for themselves. They also have a small McDonald's in here, my friend grabbed a coffee and service was a little slow. The McDonald's has a good amount of tables in case you want to eat in. This place also sells Green Mountain coffee and not chocolate. I spotted a few baked goods as well. There was a cooler filled with misc frozen items (pizzas, etc) and ice cream. The convenience store has a lot of snacks and beer. They even had a walk in beverage cooler. Also spotted an ATM and various touristy brochures. Speaking of tourist stuff, they had a display of maple syrup by the front door, that makes a nice VT souvenir. This place surprisingly has wifi, which is super handy since cell reception is spotty.

Clean bathrooms with a good amount of stalls, ready made snacks, maple souvenirs and Vermont made spirits. They also have some hot food choices available. It is WAY more than just a convenience store, although it is that, as well They have the best beer selection around--an entire walk in cooler with a broad selection of beers from all over. Wowser! Their deli has great food either cooked to order or serve-yourself hot dishes like chili and Mac and Cheese. After hours for the deli, you can still get a nice set of selections, including my favorite--their deviled eggs. And pretty soon, the serve-yourself creemee machines will be up and running for the season. Did I mention their specials? Including the annual lobster boil? Oh, and they were the first gas station in the Valley to offer ethanol-free gas. Plus, they give back a percentage of gas sales to a local charity each month. The VG is truly a gem! I snagged a medium-sized bowl of hearty chili for about $3 and it was a very generous portion. Considering I was up here for a ski weekend, I'd have probably paid about $7-$8 for that same bowl on the mountain. Staff were extremely friendly - all the more reason to shop small businesses and support the local community!

The gas prices were decent enough, and the station was laid out in an organized fashion and was clean. What struck me most was the convenience store here (Maplefields). It was quite large, immaculate inside, with a huge assortment of fresh foods (sandwiches, baked items, salads) and beverages. I thought to myself, if I had to use the washroom (which, thankfully, I didn't, I wouldn't hesitate about asking to use the bathroom here. Note that I usually avoid gas station bathrooms LIKE THE PLAGUE. But here, the store was so clean and orderly, I'd use the washroom in a heartbeat if needed). I saw some beautifully packaged Vermont maple syrup on sale for a super price, and I got a few for gifts for friends back in Seattle, along with some fresh foods for the road for the kiddies and excellent coffee for myself. What a great place!
