My dishwasher recently failed and caused water damage in my kitchen. I was distressed to find out…read morethat the flooring has since been discontinued and thus the entire first level of the house, which was continuous hardwood, would need to be replaced. I was sad, dejected and overwhelmed by the prospect of such a large project. I went to Portland Floor after reading positive reviews, and I was not disappointed! Ryan and Zach were just so wonderful in terms of picking out new flooring that would match the style. Zach came out and measured the area among the chaos of the demolition. He also offered great advice on the flooring he thought would look good. He was personable, easy to talk to and never pushy. (Enjoy baby girl Zach!) Ryan is clearly an expert in his craft and understood the levels of subfloor and floor as well as how it integrated with the tile. After my interactions with this team, I felt rejuvenated and actually excited for the result! Thank you both for your high quality support, attention to detail, knowledge and overall excellence! I will recommend you to all!

My opinion and review of Portland Floor is that they are overpriced, over worked, and negligent in their customer service. I will steer all of our friends and family away.

The parts with the doors ended up not being as straightforward as I'd thought when ordering (from elsewhere) and the build structure in my walls wasn't as consistent as should have been (house was built in 2003, so whomever did it is probably retired or dead.) The guys took this project on and stayed committed all day to get it done. The end result? Gorgeous installation and smooth operation. They were can-do and communicated early and often throughout the day. For me, communication is essential, because that makes it partnership. I would definitely ask for these guys to help out with other projects in the future (I see an outside fence in the future...)

However, I was surprised to see the Linoleum pattern running different directions in each bathroom. I emailed the Sales Manager regarding my concern and sent photos of the work done. I received a follow up response below: Hello Jerry, Thank you for reaching out and giving us feedback on your flooring installation. Per industry standard and also the best and more economical way of installing your vinyl was running the pattern the same direction, which is what we did, running the pattern front to back vs both being ran differently. This was part of the sign off that was done when the signing was completed. Having said that, I would like to still give you some discount and the best I can offer you is $50 off the balance. Did you know that getting a skylight installed in Portland is hard? Well, it is, but not for the…read morereasons you would expect. I called all over town to anyone listed on Google looking for someone to do a relatively simple install of 2 skylights. As it turns out, it's damn near impossible to find a reliable company that is willing to sell you the skylight and complete the installation. I must've burned through 8 companies before I finally checked the Velux website for certified installers in PDX. Sure enough, Green City Skylights and Solar were one of only TWO companies on the list. I called and got Shawn, who owns the company. He responded promptly to my call, showed up to my house on time, and got me an estimate in less than 6 hours. This may not seem like much, but he was the only one of 5 companies to do all of these things right. His estimate wasn't the cheapest, but he was by far the most knowledgeable and likable of the lot. We signed with Green City 2 weeks ago and I'm already the proud owner of two freshly installed skylights. They did the work in less than a day, the crew were all good guys and obvious pros, and they didn't leave the place a total mess. I even volunteered to vacuum the schmutz that they did leave behind. If you're out looking for skylights, I feel your pain. Just do yourself a favor and make sure Green City is in the mix. They'll take everybody else to school.
