OK, I admit it. I am a county fair nerd. Feel free to judge me.
And this county fair is a pretty darn good one. Growing up, my family raised sheep, rabbits, cows, and horses so for me, going to the fair is less about the rides and food, and more about checking out the livestock exhibits.
What's nice about the Champaign County Fair, however, is that for $5 you get everything...the exhibits, the rides, and the food. Unlike most fairs, rides are included in the price of admission so a nice family outing doesn't end up costing more than a trip to King's Island. Fair food was plentiful and downright affordable. A gyro for $4, sliders were 70c each, and kid/kid-at-heart friendly Sno Cone was just a buck.
And best of all for me, there were tons of animal exhibits to check out. Exhibitors were doing demos of grooming and letting visitors touch and see them up close including baby animals, which was great for the kids there. read more
