I didn't get her name, but I'll never forget her until I return with friends and family to experience this "small town" treasure. Ok, the food. The roll was golden brown, soft and screamed HomeMade. It was filled with a white flaky and well seasoned tuna salad, topped with fresh crunchy shredded lettuce. YUM ! The cucumber, grape tomato and onion salad had a lite vinaigrette dressing. Fresh !! There is freshly made strawberry lemonade, lemonade, Iced tea and the Pepsi fountain drink products. Ok, the star of the show. That slice of coconut pie was Perfect. In addition to passed appetizers, we did a buffet style dinner, mac & cheese bar, and a plated salad to start, and it couldn't have worked out better. Cocktail hour and dinner went so smoothly, and everyone loved the food. We had a couple people tell us they kept going up for more! The process from the initial tasting, to booking to final decisions to wedding day was so easy. I worked with Sheila mostly, and she was a pleasure to correspond with and always had a smile on her face while at the wedding. All the servers and bartenders were attentive and professional. My husband and I also liked that we could provide our own alcohol and EAT Catering had a mixer package, so we didn't have to worry about all the little ingredients. I gave the recipes for our 3 signature drinks and let them know what liquor we got, and they took care of the rest. The drinks were all so good too! We had a guest count of about 90 and there was plenty of food for everyone plus leftovers, which were enjoyed as after wedding late night snacks and for a couple meals the next few days! We learned pretty quickly that catering costs can get quite high, EAT Catering has very reasonable prices and many different options to fit most budgets and when you take into account the quality of the food, service and experience, it's one of the best values out there. Everyone we spoke to (venues, coordinators, etc.) recommended Groovin, and as soon as we reached out we understood why - from the very beginning they were incredibly responsive, and happy to answer our many (many) questions. Kaylyn made the planning process easy, helping us to develop a staffing plan to help with the set-up of our venue (The Workshop by T&D, which was also great). Groovin staff came the day before to set up ceremony chairs and then immediately after the ceremony efficiently moved all the chairs to the other side of the venue for dinner. They helped us coordinate rentals with Party Perfect and had all the right answers (and questions) during our on-site venue walkthrough. As for the food itself, everything was delicious! People always tell you that you won't eat at your own wedding, but the food was so good that we sat and ate our entire plates. Guests raved and two friends told us that they even came up with targeted strategies to chase down their favorite hors d'oeuvre when they came out. I think he used to have an actual restaurant, but now he just focuses on catering- corporate events, weddings, etc. He was at the market making sandwiches (which looked awesome, he was sneaking me pieces of proscuitto and arugula while he was making the sandwiches, and it was delicious!) and he had a few risotto balls and scotch bonnets ... I had never had a scotch bonnet so I tried it- turns out its a giant ball of sausage with a whole egg inside it! The sausage was really flavorful (homemade from what I could tell), though the egg was hardboiled inside and I like'um soft-boiled (although I am sure they are supposed to be hard-boiled) since they are sitting inside a sausage ball... but overall very tasty. So, would I talk to Mr. DeFazio if I had an event I needed catered? Yup. Will I visit his stand next time I am at the farmers market? Oh absolutely. I'll be the small woman ordering half a dozen sandwiches to bring home...
