I am currently an online student, and am approaching the end of my BSN program. To say that this facility and faculty has been helpful would be an understatement. I do not know why there are so many who've had bad experiences, I can only speak to my own. Yes, ONCE I did wait on hold for a long time, but mostly I was on hold for only a few minutes. The nursing classes are offered by Chamberlain, the non-nursing classes are offered by DeVry. In both cases, the content was appropriate and challenging, yet not hard to manage. I originally graduated with an ADN 27 years ago from a state university. There was no problem getting my transcripts. I received numerous phone calls from advisors and was offered guidance for my path to the BSN. I have, and will continue to recommend the RN-BSN program to others. I am not saying that those who've written poor reviews are being dishonest, however, I believe that their's was the exception, not the standard. I am saddened that their FNP program is not accepted by NYS, or I'd be taking that as well. read more

Ok so update, i received another email from them so, as promised, Chamberlain story #1 I had an advisor who had no idea how vaccines worked. My nearby clinic told me that it was insane when I asked if they could do three immunizations at once because my advisor would add weekly pressure on me thanks to a system called Complio. When I would try to reason with him, he would bully me questioning my intelligence pretending the phone lost signal for about five seconds which I assumed was to curse me out in his office without me hearing about it. I would get off the phone with him everytime he called just about in tears. It got so bad I had to switch advisors. About a year and a half later I call again to select classes. Now keep in mind that at their advising office, anyone can pick up the phone . He picks it up gives his little advising speech and then goes "am I speaking to Nolan?" I said yes you are and I was told that I'd have no further contact with you please transfer me to someone else. Which he does so but he had such a venomous anger when he said my name but still transferred the call albeit reluctantly. Chamberlain story 2, one semester I needed to hand out study guides for a course because our professor simply just didn't want to teach. He began the semester by acting as pathetic as he could be with a hang dog expression on his face telling the class "to help you to help me to help you." He went into some story about how the university is watching him closely this semester because all of his students from the previous semester failed by a technicality. The school was very limited in the study guides it would supply and professors were not allowed to deviate from the slides to provide a real world example. Any question on how the topic at hand applied to the outside world was met with pauses, blank stares and even some filler answers like "as your book says..." So, to help him help us I took the initiative to print out study guides on the concepts from Ed helper .com while this professor habitually went out for coffee at a nearby Starbucks dismissing the class 30 minutes early. Chamberlain Story 3 I hit a rough patch early on in the program, I started working at a hospital and lost two patients in the same week. I started having difficulty focusing in class and as a result my grades in a class started to plummet not significantly but just enough to warrant the schools early intervention from the department head. When I told him of the two traumatic losses he goes. "Well why don't you treat your class like a patient and try to save it instead of focusing on your trauma." Which isn't really something you say to someone. This was followed up with "Well I think what you are truly lacking here is resilience..." and I just remember leaving that conference call feeling worse than I went in. Chamberlain final story, I had a Professor who would openly belittle us when we didn't pass a test as my last course at this school. He would say things like "tsk tsk shameful." Or "What do you have to say for yourself?" Every time. Any complaint made would go out the window because the campus president was good friends with this professor. After having this happen for so long, I decided I could no longer take the abuse from this particular professor and withdrew the course finding out later that I was dismissed. I tried reinstating and their process involved an E meeting with several professors none of which I had before. They decided that I wasn't "serious" enough about my courses or that they felt I didn't have a strong study plan. The decision was unanimous that I was finished there. A couple days later, my advisor called me telling me to try to appeal to the campus president. I did this. Days went by while waiting. Finally on June 22nd 2022 I learned my fate that I was permanently dismissed. My advisor set me up to fail. Worst still, June 22nd was just one day before my birthday. I asked for no contact about one year afterwards when they sent me a patronizing email about sign up for classes now. I called them asked if they meant to send the email and they said well...no actually the ban still stands. I asked why they sent it and the phone representative very nonchalantly answered "I dunno." And that brings us to today the email from a third party on behalf of chamberlain to my current school's email. Since I left they've been on occasion harassing me and I honestly feel that I have parted ways with them. They are like a parasite to me that only bites when it needs nourishment and resides in the back always present biting down just enough to let you know that it's still there neither growing nor shriveling but still latching on no matter what. I hope this going public with my mistreatment is enough to get them to stop. read more

My experience with Chamberlain University has been deeply disappointing, largely due to their financial aid practices, which feel misleading, disorganized, and stressful for students who depend on aid to continue their education. From the start, financial aid information has been unclear and inconsistent. Aid amounts change, balances fluctuate, and explanations are often vague or delayed. Students are left to constantly follow up just to understand what they owe and why. Communication between financial aid, billing, and advising feels disconnected, and it is incredibly difficult to get a straight answer. What is most troubling is that students are allowed to remain enrolled while financial aid issues are unresolved, only to later be hit with unexpected balances, holds, or threats of course disruption. This creates pressure and fear around continuing your education and feels like a tactic that places the financial burden entirely on the student. This school does not support your success rather forces students to seek success very independently without the support of staff (I.e preceptorships) and throughout. Furthermore, I was asked to prove my identity near graduation which I felt that I was being discriminated by my race upon inquiry as to why this was happening to me toward the end of my program. This process needed to be completed or I was told that my financial aid would be held and I would not be able to graduate and complete my last courses. No one wanted to help me via phone or email and luckily found one staff member out of many who assisted me with the concern/problem at hand. The Chamberlain team works tirelessly, just as nurses do, to create the best outcomes possible for the student nurses. If I ever needed anything I know I could put my trust in them to help. I waited almost a year to write this review. I wanted to make sure I wasn't being overly dramatic, but I find I still feel the same way. My daughter went to Chamberlain in Addison. She did fine the first year and a half, or so. No issues. Then she failed a nursing class, then another one. When you fail 2 classes you're out. She had 4 months to graduate. I didn't realize for a couple of months she was experiencing depression and that's why she began slipping in school. She appealed once by herself and got denied. If any of you have the unfortunate experience to go through depression, I'm genuinely sorry. I myself had it for 5 years and is not fun to say the least. She had one last appeal and if that one was denied, she could never apply there again. She had a Dr.'s diagnosis and paperwork to back it up. She (the 2nd time) took full responsibility and explained what happened and what was still happening. The boards response was that she did not prove her case and that's that. I understand many things, such as if she is not well, she should take the time to heal first before tackling the last 4 months of classes. I also understand that 4 additional months is really not a big deal and she can do that when she's ready, provided the time frame of her classes are still valid. You obviously can't wait 3 years and then decide to go back and expect to be placed at the same level. When she went to apply elsewhere, it was explained by several other schools is that by switching schools only some credits transferred. Some schools said they don't accept any of Chamberlains credits at all. She will have to start over, but that's still not why I'm upset. I understand a school such as this is a business. But in the Healthcare field I would have hoped for a bit of compassion to someone with an illness. I'm not even really saying they should have accepted her last appeal. A student who has been there for a year and a half or so, not been a problem student, deserves to be treated with respect and if they could take 3 minutes out of their day and talk to her face to face, or even explain why her 2nd letter didn't adequately explain, to their standards, how she failed 2 classes because of her depression. She wrote the 2nd appeal herself and had me and several nurses that she works with read it. We all thought it was a good appeal and did explain what caused the failures. After taking responsibility for messing up, she did explain how the depression affected her. The board does not explain anything, just a yes or no. Maybe there is a reason for it, but of course we don't know what that reason is because no one would talk to her so she at least knew what they were looking for in the appeal. I do think it's a decent program. Hard but good. That's why I gave 2 stars. As to the powers that be, meaning the board, I am immensely disappointed about the apparent absence of compassion and support for the students. They are human after all. read more

I took an advanced pathophysiology course to satisfy a prerequisite course for another program at a different university. It follows the for profit model and I think that shows In how the school Prepared students during the course. There are lots of posts and discussions which I don't find helpful at all. They're laborious and tedious to do in my opinion with very limited benefit. My quoted price for the cost was different before I started compared to when I finished. I received a quote to get preapproval from employer for tuition reimbursement and at the end of the course that tuition due was about $200 more than had been requested. I never got an answer or a refund for extra charge. Proceed with caution and keep all receipts. read more

***PMHNP students be aware this program is developed only to support FNP students. *** Going into NR547, which is the first Clinical rotation, you will only take two courses geared towards psych proceeding this course. Everything else will be medical leading up to this point. In NR547 you are required to take a CEA exam which is explained as preparation for the boards. Except the CEA exam is 25% of your final grade. There is over 100 questions on the exam and only 12 of them are psych related. I personally did not pass this exam and was given a score 75/150 (50%). You are required to do 10 hours of remediation for each section failed. I had to do 30 hours of remediation which I receive no additional points for. But if you don't do the remediation, you do not pass the class. They have also increased their passing score from an 80% to an 84%. Due to the CEA exam, which was completely medical based minus the 12 psych questions, I had to consistently play catch-up with my grade attempting to pass. The amount of time you are required to spend on this of course does not reflect in the credits given for this course. I ended the course with an 83.7% which is an F. I will not be allowed to move onto the next course unless I sit out a semester and go in front of the dean and students and asked to continue in their program. The reality is, I don't want to be in their program anymore because they are unfair to PMHNP students. At this point, it feels like the school is a scam to get PMHNP students to fail, requiring them to take courses again and pay additional money. I worked extremely hard and I passed the course content. I did not pass the CEA exam, which led me to fail the course. read more

This school continues to find new ways to disappoint me. Absolutely the biggest mistake I have ever made and will forever regret attending. If I wanted to get an education from YouTube I could've done it for free instead of from a institution that raises tuition at least twice within 2 years while doing anything they can to avoid actually providing an education and then blaming you when there are problems. I am obtaining my masters in the FNP program and I must say, I have been highly disappointed with the entire experience with Chamberlain. Not one person can provide all of the information necessary to stay on track with obtaining this degree. If I could complete my degree at a different college without pushing my graduation date even farther out, I would NOT hesitate! Getting a hold of someone from ELC and/or student services is a joke. Takiyah King is my ELC contact person and is not helpful at all. You will receive half of the information you need a week after you asked for specific information. And when you request to have an actual return phone call you can bet it will not happen. I was registered late for my first practicum and then the information wasn't relayed to the site and when it was; it took them even longer to accept me. This put me at starting my first clinical 3 weeks into the class. We should have 50 hours logged by week 4. Dr. F. my instructor for class was amazing and offered so much information and knowledge. He informed me that if I did not have the 125 hours, I would have to take an incomplete. He informed me, not student services. I contacted student services and told them this was the plan since I had 94 hours by the end of week 8. I was informed by student services that I could not move forward in another class until I completed the hours. My session happened to end 4/30 with spring break occurring the following week. I work two jobs and I am in school, For the duration of this course I worked with my co-workers to switch days with me so I can work every weekend to try and complete the 125 hours needed. NEVER did anyone from student services tell me I could not complete my clinical on my spring break to complete the hours so I could start "on time" with the May 2nd session. I took time off of work so I could focus strictly on clinic to complete the hours and now I am told I cannot move forward and have to sit out for 2 months until July. I am working so hard to complete this and with incompetent people working in student services and ELC you better make sure you have every "what if" situation written down and answered before you sign up with Chamberlain University. Terrible school. I was a 4.0 student in the masters program and needed to drop a class due to personal reasons for a semester. After being in the class for the a week, they don't have a drop policy. Warning! If you are not good at math, struggle learning, are not good at technology, or an older age. This school is not for you. It can be costly if you fail. They say they can help with tutors, but there is no time with all the work load. Not easy to retain. Each class per week has 9 to 10 modules. Most of the questions are difficult to answer because they aren't in the literature. If you get it wrong you are graded on a point system. Very easy to fail. It would helpful if they give you an idea at the beginning on a step by step whats to expected before you enroll, so that the first week is not so brutal and you are aware on the time that the assignment needs to be completed. There is so much to do that it is almost impossible to get in and easy to fail on the first week that reflects om your overall grade. Very stressful. No time to work or be a mom or dad. I wasn't thinking it would be easy, but it is almost impossible to be successful at this school. read more

While I'm thankful for my degree, I WOULD NOT recommend Chamberlain. At all. It was one headache after another during the entire time I was enrolled. Every contact person I saved in my phone no longer worked for the school the next time I'd call back. That should tell you something right there... I don't think the professors had the students best interest, I think they just worked off a pre-set syllabus. I had trouble contacting my professors when I needed to. Every time I needed to speak with someone at the school it was always this huge ordeal of being transferred from one person to the next. Plus it's super expensive. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I am just finishing up my RN to BSN online. I was able to work as a single mom and finish in one year. Every course has laid everything out step by step to make use of technology simple. With each course, you gain the experience you need for the next making it a little easier along the way. The instructors have all been helpful, enthusiastic and great communicators. Registration and financial aid has not been a difficult process. I've decided to continue with Chamberlain for the MSN NP bridge program with hopes that I continue to have a great experience! read more

I received my BSN through this school and had no complaints. Now I am in the middle of earning my FNP and I have nothing nice to say. The department to approve the clinical sites is in no way accessible to the students. They have my site approval on hold for the second semester in a row for no reason. It is the same site that I was going to and the site is approved for future semesters. I have called multiple times. Spoken to multiple people that just say, "We cannot do anything, give them a few more days." I have sent multiple emails with no responses. The more frustrating aspect is even the Chamberlain admission team cannot contact the department that is supposed to approve my clinic site. The department that needs to approve the site put on their hold that a contract needs to be renewed. 1) The email they sent also stated that it didn't need to be renewed until June and I could enroll as long as I was able to get my clinic days in before the renewal date. 2) My clinic site states the contract was valid through 2024. 3) The practicum page states that the contract for my site has been approved. So what is the hold for? 4) Chamberlain sent an email stating that there was a way to register even though the clinical site was not completely finished. However, none of the advisors will use this option. This same exact situation happened last semester and I was not able to enroll. This is going to put me back even further. I am not usually a person who leaves bad reviews, but I am desperate to get their attention. read more

DO NOT ATTEND CHAMBERLAIN. If I could give this institution no stars, I would. Because Chamberlain is a national company, the professors in your classes have no control over the material, how it's taught, or your grade. So, while a simple misunderstanding of turning in the wrong file on the online portal at a normal school could be understood and given full points, at Chamberlain, it is a non-negotiable point deduction or automatic 0, depending on the mistake. Even the professors hate working here; they are frustrated that all of the things that are wrong with PowerPoint or EDAPTS can't be changed, and it affects the students in the long run. I signed up for the in-person program at the beginning of my nursing student career. Now, they have increased tuition while also making every class completely online. They call it 'hybrid,' but only because your tests are in person and clinics are still in the hospital. they make you do a million different reviews and surveys; however, they do not amend anything based on student's needs, and each survey is completely irrelevant. All nursing schools know that your credits do not transfer so if a student changes schools, they have to start over; this means that they know once you start at Chamberlain, you probably won't leave because you would have to start over. This school is a scam, and I would not be surprised if they lost their accreditation soon. every student I know at this school is utterly miserable and if any of us had the opportunity to switch schools, we would. $740 for one credit hour is absolutely absurd when the classes are ONLINE. we did not ask for online courses, plus Chamberlain offers an online option so their excuse for changing everyone to online to help students requiring flexibility is a joke. Also they do not have a financial aid department and any student advisor you talk to is completely clueless and unable to give answers to questions or just straight up gives wrong information. the 'financial aid department' is just advisors who have had no training on how to help with these issues and it is almost impossible to contact them anyway. Besides moving to online they also constantly change the curriculum- making the students constantly learn how to use new online nursing programs that are discouraging and out of touch with real life scenarios. I graduated from Chamberlain University with a DNP 1.5 years ago. It was an academically rigorous program. There were many bumps in the road on my way to finish the program, with delays due to changing jobs and family members' serious illnesses. At every step of the way Chamberlain was supportive, both the educators and the administrative staff. I cannot say enough good things about them. The DNP program was well organized and well run. It was very demanding, as is expected to obtain a DNP. I always felt I knew what was expected of me, there were no surprises. If any paper or project was unclear, there were many opportunities to obtain clarification in a timely manner. The most helpful advise I could give someone considering the program would be to make sure your writing skills are up to the level expected. You are expected to write on a deep analytical level . There was a lot of support given to those who needed help (there are tutors and a writing skills center with group lessons, online lessons, and aids), but the class sessions are short and loaded with work, and having to greatly improve your writing skills in that setting is not ideal. Even though my writing my skills were fine upon entering the program, I did utilize the writing center for online learning and found it improved my writing skills a great deal. read more

From the moment I started the application process my admissions counselor was very encouraging and she gave me the courage I needed to apply to Chamberlain. She told me not to worry and offered me great advice and calmed my nerves. Fast forward to classes...my professors have literally been heaven sent. The amount of support and dedication they offer to us has been exactly what I needed! After having graduated Chamberlain in October of 2010, I am updating my review of the college. Many people have asked me if the school is legit, and I assure you it is. Many people have asked me if hospitals have heard of Chamberlain, and after having clinicals at various hospitals throughout the Chicago-land area, almost everyone has heard of and had students from Chamberlain. Many people have asked me about getting a job and let me tell you, I found a job right away, as did many of my friends and classmates. As a matter of fact, I got the exact job I wanted, at the hospital I wanted. In saying that, do I think I found a job because of Chamberlain? Yes and no. The people that got jobs right away (myself included), did so because of their work experience and driven personalities. Many of us already worked in the hospital, a recommendation I would make for everyone. However, Chamberlain allowed me to get my BSN in a shorter amount of time, and hospitals are very interested in people with a BSN. As a matter of fact, many hospitals (any with magnet status) will not hire without a BSN, so keep that in mind. Secondly, I think Chamberlain did its very best to prepare us for our NCLEX. As a matter of fact, I am giving Chamberlain an extra star because the dean and faculty made it their mission to ensure that its students passed their NCLEX. They offered Kaplan classes at school and even gave us a $100 dollars back if we enrolled in the class. I felt that the dean, every single nursing instructor, and other staff members were rooting us on as we took our boards and were there to congratulate us when we passed. I personally received many e-mails from the dean and faculty to congratulate me. Since I graduated, I do not know what kind of staff and teachers they have now, or what kind of changes they have made to the program and curriculum. I do know that several of the core nursing instructors are excellent and (a couple I have grown to love) still teach at the Addison campus. read more

I have 6 months left of the FNP program..there are good and bad as any college has. I am learning alot but I personally stopped working full time to keep up with all the demands of the class. I feel it would be extremely difficult to maintain the grades with working full time. It's a MSN program, of course their is a ton of projects and papers. As many colleges, it requires you to get your own practicum sites. Many APRN programs do. Overall with 3 classes left, I am satisfied. Most all my instructors have been helpful when approached and reachable. I have never had an issue with the finance office or student services. All tests and quizzes are proctored. Like many universities the program is what you put into it. read more

I attended NIU prior to considering applying for Chamberlain. My first troubles started when i began to apply to the school; getting a hold of anyone with any kind of information was near impossible. I was not able to have a chance to talk to an advisor UNTIL i payed the $100 application fee. I was assigned an advisor who was very helpful in our meetings, but outside of our allotted time, was extremely hard to get in touch of. The advisor once joked that "we played phone tag for weeks" before i found out that I had made it into the program. While i may have a full time job, Chamberlain is very expensive but that is to be expected from a private school. I decided to move my start date in January to a more manageable May; I needed to save money and make work adjustments in order to better prepare myself for the work load of the nursing program. Unfortunately, the advisor failed to mention that doing this would get me kicked out of the nursing program and all the fees and drug tests that i had payed for would have been for not. This school is a great school to learn and earn a nursing degree, but unfortunately the road to that goal is long and difficult. The difficulty should come from the work load, but in this situation, it comes from the frustrating staff that have been spread out to thin with students. All our conversations were in the form of emails and voicemails which have made my experience with chamberlain very frustrating. If you can, look for other colleges before considering this one. Also taking the courses like anatomy, chemistry, etc at a community college is much cheaper than at chamberlain ($400 compared to the $1000 plus other fees) hope this review helps read more

I was interested in the nursing program in Addison. The advisor for that program is Cory Vlahos. I tried so many times to call her email her so she can help and nothing. She never responded to my emails or never called me back. I filled out the Fafsa, I sent all my transcripts in and I just waited and nothing. I complained about Cory and then she finally called me back. But I was working so I couldn't talk. She said she would call to schedule something and she never did. I tried calling and emailing her again numerous of times after that and she never reached out to me again!! I called one last time and spoke to an admissions advisor Cynthia Kasimov who Said she would help me and then forgot to call me lol I also had to call her back. She gave me an attitude when I asked her why Cory never called back. She said she couldn't find my transcripts and wanted me to resend everything all over again!!! And she had to hang up because she was busy doing fingerprints for the new students!! I couldn't believe how I was treated!!!! read more

Every Professor I encountered could careless about the student except come survey time... if I could give zero stars I would. So disappointed, lots of false promises here. This is a review of the facilities only as I am not a student. They have a big parking lot here and the classrooms are all in great shape with very comfortable chairs. The lab and computer equipment are in great shape and there are plenty of workstations. The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. I am here once a week and they remember my name and are very helpful if I need assistance. The only thing I would change is the numbering of the classrooms. I am geographically challenged, but the room numbers aren't always sequential, so I have a problem finding where I'm supposed to go in a quick fashion. read more

I graduated from Chamberlain's RN-BSN Online program in June 2013 - Great program! No complaints. Everyone I have spoken to in Student Services have always been very helpful and courteous. I did have a concern regarding a mix-up in my tuition rates with the Financial Aid department, but it was efficiently resolved. They are great at following up with you. 2016 FNP graduate. I have already written a pretty honest and lengthy review that's has somehow mysteriously disappeared. I do think we have to look at the bigger picture here. At the end of the day as a provider you want to provide your patients with the best care possible which means you need to have a strong education and experiences to mold you into an excellent provider. I believe it is possible for online programs to develop these kind of providers if 1. They provide the students with the proper resources 2. If the student is ambitious and willing to do anything to get where they need. I believe my counter parts that went to a brick and mortar school who had clinical sites set for them had a better educational experience. So if you are in between the two, I would recommend that over an online program. Although Chamberlain was one of the more expensive schools, I chose to go there to stay full time at work and because they promised to find clinicals for me. After 1 year into the program they said they could no longer do so and my classmates and I were left to figure it out. Many of them had to drop out. I spent the summer calling around and thank God I found the sites I needed to graduate. I feel like when these sites are not vetted everyone gets subpar clinical experiences. If we are expected to do the same work as doctors do, our programs should be as competitive, structured, and organized like the MD programs. No MD/DO school has students find their own rotations or even practice without a residency. Anyways, I did not feel prepared in any way after graduating. I took 3 review courses, one from Hollier (videos) provided by Chamberlain, one from Fitzgerald (live) and Barkley (cds). I ended up taking both ANCC and AANP and passed both. I don't think one is harder than the other it truly depends on what you are better at research/ethics type questions then take ANCC, dx and tx type questions then take AANP. I did not feel prepared to go out and work with all the other docs and PAs who have had extensive training, so I did a one year FNP residency program and it was AMAZING. I worked for them for 2 years and then went to Acute care. My new employer provided a 16 week Acute Care didactic and procedural orientation. Without these two programs I would have been lost. I honestly do not know how FNPs from online programs who do not get solid clinical rotations function without this extra training. So circling back, if you choose to do an online program you also have to be very proactive in finding residencies or jobs that will properly train you on the things you should have learned in school so that you can provide safe and effective patient care! read more

The Chamberlain Addison campus is a really great nursing program that focuses on preparing us for the nursing profession. The professors are amazing and show true effort in ensuring that their students succeed, not only in their class but in their overall experience at Chamberlain. The campus provides several resources in order to help us perform the best that we can, including review sessions for nursing courses, peer tutoring, and office hours for one-on-one reviewing with your professor. If you find yourself struggling in a class, these resources make it easier for you to get back on track. Gen-eds can be taken online, which is convenient as you are allowed to pace yourself on lectures and assignments each week. Science courses such as anatomy and chemistry, as well as nursing courses, are taken on campus. The professors are experienced in the fields and are more than happy to answer any question you may have. As expected with any nursing programs, the material can be challenging and requires time for studying and understanding. However, these courses are designed to help us pass the NCLEX and will result in us being nothing less than overly prepared for our future career in nursing. read more

12/10 would not recommend. Every single semester it's something new with financial aid and student services. I've never experienced this before but they will "over award" students financially & then request for the student to pay back the money! I received financial aid to my account, even though I have graduated and I am still fighting with them now to reverse several charges due to me winning a scholarship & them placing a charge on my account for the scholarship amount. If you are able to look past all of the bs & enroll, classes are easy. Literally just busy work. Some teachers will just give you full points for participating, others will grade your work in a serious manner. FYI - Steer clear of DeAnna in Collaborative. read more
