Had a fantastic time with our family tonight. Ages 7-70 and we all had fun! Todd was so wonderful from booking all the way through the end. He explained things very well and the room was tough with lots of great puzzles! Highly recommend for first timers or people who have done these rooms before. Will definitely go back for his other room!

    We made it!

Such a great experience! Other escape rooms have been great but this one adds so much more. The owner is great and we had a blast!

Todd was great, still wonder if he gave us more hints than an average group but we made it out just in time.

Apologies for the novel, but feel the need to post this review to warn others about the experience…read morethey may encounter...My family and I were in town for the holidays and on a rainy day thought an escape room would be a nice idea. After a bit of research, we noticed most top rooms in the area were completely booked (not the only ones with this idea on a rainy holiday afternoon). We eventually found Alchemy Escape Rooms and noticed that they had every time available. While this probably should have been a red flag, we went for it anyways. After booking a 3:30pm reservation (for 6 people out of the 8 available spots), our PayPal was charged and we were told we'd receive a confirmation email. No email came. We continuously called the business but got no answer. We were especially concerned when we went back to the website and noticed someone could still book all spots for the 3:30pm reservation. Nonetheless, we drove on over and arrived around 3:20pm. When we got to the door, it was locked. Upon knocking we heard a dog bark and a few second later, Joshua, the owner, opened the door. He was surprised to see us, and when we said we had reserved the room for 3:30pm, he said he didn't see it in his system. However, he was friendly and invited us in, mentioning he just needed a couple minutes to set the room back up. We stood in the lobby for 25 minutes while Joshua was supposedly setting up the room. There were power tools on the front desk, and it did seem like he was building the room, more than setting it up. After the wait, he invited us in and we were excited to get going, despite the late start. Despite the sloppy start, we were willing to look past the reservation system failures, delay in getting started, and overall "unfinish" look to the business. However, within minutes of starting the game, we noticed several major issues with the story the game was presenting. I'll be vague out of respect for some of the puzzles, but to name a few issue: -The door from the first room to the second room was left unlocked, throwing off the chain of events -There was a prop oven at a bakery in one of the rooms that was supposed to open, but did not. The owner came in after the game had finished and confirmed it was jammed, again throwing off multiple steps in the game. -There was a black "goo" that was on a lot of the books and props throughout the game, which grossly dripped off onto our hands. The owner explained this was resin from the props that were poorly made by the manufacturer. -At one point, the Smart TVs which are essential to the flow of the game froze. This required the owner to interrupt the game, walk into the room, and fiddle with the remote for a minute as he attempted to fix it. He was not tall enough to reach the TV, and had to ask a member of our group to point the remote from a higher angle to properly refigure the screen. A minute after he left, an ad for a local Honda dealership popped up on the screen, further interrupting and ruining the flow of the game. -At one point during the game, you are meant to recreate an image with props in the room. One prop did not fit in the space it was meant to, leading the owner to tell us to just lay it on its side. -The final prop that was necessary to win the game was nowhere to be found. When the owner entered the room after our time had ran out, he had no real explanation for the whereabouts of this prop. As we left the building, on our way back to the car, our entire group discussed how disappointing this was, and eventually landed on heading back in to ask for some sort of compensation for the experience. However, within 60 seconds of us leaving, the door was locked. When we knocked, there was no dog barking and no one answered. We followed up with an email explaining how upsetting the experience was and asking if he'd consider some sort of compensation as we were clearly "guinea pigs" who paid full price for an experience that was not ready to be played. We did mentioned that if he was willing to offer some sort of compensation, we would be willing to forgo leaving reviews as the business clearly was not ready for paying customers. The owner replied to our email saying he was shocked we didn't enjoy the experience, and was confused why we didn't bring it up in person (which we attempted to but he had left). He then got very defensive and accused us of attempting to blackmail him for a refund, which he stated was immoral and potentially illegal. After a few very aggressive email responses, we left it be. The owner did offer passes to come back again; however, as out-of-towners, that does nothing for us. Very disappointing experience overall, and while maybe one day the business will be fully operational and ready for customers, today it most definitely was not.

The staff are super nice, and the bartender gave a great drink recommendation based on what I told him I was looking for. They have game consoles with an insane variety of games throughout the bar and seating area, which are all open to play for free. They have any game you could ever want-PlayStation, Nintendo, sega, etc, and board games to play as well. They have a ton of fun events every month: trivia, bingo, karaoke-always with different themes. If you're looking for something fun to do, I promise this is your place. A million stars!

Two of us ordered drinks right away and sat at the bar playing video games. The rest of our group was still deciding what they wanted, which we understood fell under the one drink minimum per person rule. One friend sat with us at the bar while we had our drinks and was told by the bartender that she couldn't sit there without purchasing a drink, so she moved. She then stood near our other friends, who were playing an arcade game, and they were told they could not play unless they each bought a drink. At this point, they stood behind us at the bar to look over the menu and decide what they wanted, but that didn't seem to matter. The bartender repeatedly returned and escalated the situation instead of allowing any reasonable time to order, stating they could get water if they wanted and that it did not have to be alcoholic. After only a couple of minutes, the same bartender came out from behind the bar again and said in a rude, condescending tone that they "don't understand... if they don't buy a drink, then they can't even be in the building." Our friends explained that we had already purchased drinks and were simply deciding what we wanted, but at that point, they were turned off by his behavior and no longer wanted anything--and frankly, neither did we. We cashed out our tab, finished our drinks, and left. We were already paying customers and would have ordered more drinks, but the handling of the situation made that impossible. Instead, the business lost not only our additional sales, but also several friends who were planning to join us and spend money. We are local to the area and not teenagers causing a disturbance, which is what the situation felt like when our friends were told to leave for no clear reason. I understand house rules like a one-drink minimum, but there is a professional way to enforce them. This wasn't it. Not everyone can or wants to order immediately--whether due to preferences, pacing, or dietary restrictions--and the lack of flexibility or basic courtesy was disappointing. Instead of encouraging guests to stay and order more, the approach did the opposite. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my impression of the place, and I don't see myself returning. There are other spots in the area with a similar concept that offer a much more welcoming and customer-friendly experience, and I would recommend exploring those instead.

The e-mails continued even beyond normal business hours to ensure we walked away as satisfied customers. The refund was returned the very next day. Even with the way things went on the premises in person, we are more than satisfied with their effort to make it right. Thank you, Escapology. We called on a Monday afternoon to inquire about availability, we were told they had openings and she would take our info over the phone and charge us for one person to hold a spot for us as we were twenty minutes away. When we asked about parking, the person on the phone instructed us that there was a parking garage on Cortez St, but she failed to mention that we could get parking validated by them for $15 and not have to pay the $21 parking fee. We only learned about the parking validation from the sign on the entry desk after we had already paid for parking in the garage around the block and we weren't going back down there to haggle for the $6 savings. There is also a sign as you enter the building that says to ask about the walk in discount. We asked about the discount four separate times, as we had two people paying for families, and each time Myesa ignored the question. It wasn't until she was asking for my payment that I stated she was ignoring our question and she told us we couldn't get the walk in discount because we called first. We asked how much the discount would have been and she said 20%, so with our group total of $280 that would have saved us $56 dollars. Note: it doesn't have any terms or conditions for the discount listed on the sign. After we stated it would have been nice to know that on the phone as well, Myesa was a bit smug, but showed us to our room. There are no bathrooms for paying customers, you must go downstairs one level to use the public restroom. For the price you pay at this location, which is the most expensive escape room we've ever done, for not any better quality or courteous staff, we won't be returning. The only bonus about this escape room is that it is right on the beach and close to many other restaurants and things to see and do. Find another escape room where they actually care about the customer.
