A gang of seven of us headed off to the French Alps for a cheeky week of skiing and most of the accommodation organising had been done by others so apart from seeing the 12-person catered chalet on the company website, I didn't know what the reality was going to be until we arrived.
Set back from the main road up to the centre of Meribel (which was only 5 minute's drive away) and up an incline from O'Sullivan's (formerly Dicks T-Bar, more about that later on in the review) it looked just like you'd imagine a traditional chalet should.
On the entry level there is a large store room for skis and snowboards, an electric ski boots dryer (a literal God-send), a sauna room, shower, WC and one of the twin bedrooms. Up one level of the spiral stairs is the spacious kitchen/dining/living room with comfy sofas, a terrace and another twin bedroom. The next two floors each had two spacious en-suite bedrooms.
We were really well taken care of by the chalet hosts and the minibus driver who picked us up each morning to take us to the bottom of the ski lifts and after we'd finished for the day (mostly from Meribar, see review http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/meribar-les-allues).
I would have given the chalet a five star rating but for two issues one tiny bordering on petty and one more significant 1) the showers were 'hold the shower head over yourself in the bath' ones which I personally hate. 2) it's located only a stone's throw from O'Sullivans club & party bar which closes at 4am. On some nights we were woken up by drunk people screaming and shouting.
Other than that it's a super place to stay, comfortable and cosy and only a short distance from the main town. Just remember to pack your ear plugs just in case... read more
