This is local Italian flavor at its best. While wandering the streets of Civitavecchia one evening, we heard this commotion and saw a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) line of locals crowding the doorway at this gelato place. When you see that many people in line, you get in it! And I'm so glad we did.
Ordering was not easy but we managed. The gelato flavors were inventive and looked all-natural (no fake bright colors and dyes here). I had the Zuppa Inglese flavor and it was some of the best gelato I've ever had.
This is a truly local spot in a small, working class town. If you are an "uncomfortable" traveler, this place isn't for you. It is NOT touristy and only Italian is spoken. But if you want to soak up the local culture, make it a point to stop here for some ice cream! read more
