Pomeroy Living Sterling Skilled Rehabilitation

Pomeroy Living Sterling Skilled Rehabilitation

On January 8, my husband was diagnosed with a large saddle pulmonary embolism. Later that same…read morenight, he suffered three heart attacks, followed by mechanical removal of the embolism, and two strokes between January 8 and January 18. After spending a month in the ICU and then another month at a specialty care hospital, my husband arrived at Pomeroy on March 6. At that time, he was still not meeting his ADLs and had a Stage 4 infected wound. I share this background because it's important to understand how complex his care needs were. Out of five facilities, Pomeroy was the only one willing to accept him. Others were unable or unwilling to take on such a complicated case, and for that alone, we are incredibly grateful. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to my husband's well‑being. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exemplary care provided at this skilled nursing facility. Ray, Kelly and Jolisa, RN, consistently went above and beyond, ensuring strong communication and attentive medical oversight. A special thank you to Kelly, Wound Care Nurse, whose expertise, dedication, and kindness have made a meaningful difference in my husband's healing and comfort. The CNAs--Makela, Felicia, Octavia, and Jay--have been truly wonderful. They are patient, respectful, and consistently attentive, always treating residents with dignity and warmth. Their teamwork and positive attitudes have made a very difficult time easier for both my husband and our family. I would also like to recognize Tony and Bri, Physical and Occupational Therapy. They have been incredible--working tirelessly with my husband, encouraging him as they help him practice sitting up and standing. Even though progress takes time, they have never stopped believing in him or motivating him to keep trying. This facility is fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate team. I am deeply grateful for the care my husband has received and would highly recommend Pomeroy to anyone seeking quality, patient‑centered skilled nursing care.

My mother had suffered from a stroke and aneurysm in December 2023 and was in a bed ridden state…read moreafter being released from Mclaren Macomb (AWESOME PLACE ALSO). She initially went to a nursing facility in Shelby which was horrific, but in a hidden blessing had to be sent to the hospital again for a surgical procedure. She was in a bed ridden state and Pomeroy Sterling Heights (Feb 2024 - April 2024) was 1 of 3 facilities I did research on and had received an above average rating from multiple research sites (Google, Yelp, various 3rd party home care sites). We were thankfully accepted and received A Class service. We did have a couple of hiccups but No Place is Perfect. The staff, Especially the Nurses and CNAs were SUPERSTARS!!! They deserve Praise and definitely a Raise!!! We would like to give a Shoutout Everyone - Front Desk, Social Services Staff, Custodial Staff, Cafeteria Staff, and Especially the Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy Team, Nursing Leads (Eugene, Manny, Ray), Kelli the Wound Specialist, Betty the Nutritional Guru and MAINLY the CNAs for their HARD Work and Nurses for Caring for my Mother!! Our Family would recommend Pomeroy Sterling Heights for their Rehabilitation Wing and Staff!!!

The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center

Once again, write a review and receive an additional 10% off your purchases. I don't need the extra…read more10%. As was pointed out in previous reviews, I only buy featured tag colours on Friday's. That means all my garments are $1 each. I have no issue with paying $20 for 20 articles of clothing as opposed to $18, in the end. Let the review commence. As is true in most every metro Detroit Sal, you never know what you will find here. There's everything from games, books, clothes, toys etc. They have a lot of furniture. I've found old classroom desks which would be good for enthusiasts and students. Tables, chairs and lighting, too! There's junk for your kitchen. Tools for the garage. The store is older and the bathrooms are questionable clean. They do a great job of organizing items and one of their best qualities is their willingness to barter. Yes, it is a charity. That's no reason to overpay for used paraphernalia. Alex is a fantastic veteran of the center and will work with you. 1/20

I give credit to the Salvation Army for helping people who are down on their luck. This particular…read morestore goes the extra mile and obviously has mentally challenged individuals working to price donations. A no-name figurine, about 3" tall, was $7. A small Precious Moments animal (usually $3-4 at other SA's) was $7. Regular sized Precious Moments were $12-$19. I didn't dare look to see how much they were asking for ones still in boxes. The clothes seem to be a dollar or two more expensive than at other locations, and with no fitting rooms available, I wasn't going to waste my money. The store is clean and organized, but that is true for most SA's I've ever frequented, so I don't think that's anything exceptional to justify terrible pricing.

Blue Diamond Laundromat - Had my pick of any washing machine here

Blue Diamond Laundromat

(1 review)

I didn't really think I'd see the day when I'd give something as basic and bereft of enthusiasm…read moregeneration as a laundromat the maximum rating but I'm throwing out the 5 star carpet to welcome Blue Diamond to Yelp. And the reason for the rave review boils down to one single thing that's often repeated in triplicate: location, location, location! I mean, it does have other things going for it but at the end of the day it's still a laundromat. Here's what's so special about BDL. It's open all night and it's next door to a diner that, for 4 out of 7 nights at least, is also open all night. I can throw my clothes in the wash, walk a few feet over to Phoenix Coney Island, get a carryout, eat most of it in the laundromat while waiting for the wash to finish, not miss a moment throwing it in the dryer, and then finish my grub while my clothes tumble dry. No idle time surfing the internet on my phone, watching bits and pieces of a show on Hulu or whatever streaming service I have at the moment, no, ahem, pecking out Yelp reviews. Pure, glorious nourishment of my belly to help soothe the drudgery of laundry. It's an absolutely ingenious set up. Even college towns like Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti don't have this one two punch of essential services and I don't know why. It's kind of cool the way Blue Diamond is off the main drag of Van Dyke but also why I never noticed it, nor did anyone else on Yelp, til recently. I was just in here late Easter night for a little grub and glow up (does cleaning one's clothes count as a glow up? Maybe I'm being overly charitable here but I always strive for alliteration) and an attendant came in for a little clean up and coin retrieval at that late hour. I chatted him up some and he said he thought the place had been open for about two years. He didn't know what it was before which I'm curious about as the building has an interesting look with a slanted roof that rises and rises the farther away from Van Dyke it gets. Blue Diamond is very bare bones when it comes to decor. Boring white walls. No video games or pinball, just a couple vending machines- snacks and sodas and water. But who cares, right? All night coney island right next door. The attendant says they might even try to start serving food out of the laundromat which seems pretty unnecessary to me, but there is one area with a counter and a metal roll down window above it that does look like it's unused space. I also complimented the attendant on how clean the place is and then looked around and saw there was actually a bunch of dryer sheets and assorted litter around on the floor. But hey, it was the end of a holiday weekend. On my other visit the place is as spic and span as you'd hope for. All night laundromats aren't the easiest to keep spotless. As he said sometimes people roll through and trash the place. And honestly as long as the machines and folding tables are clean I don't care too much if the rest is a little rough around the edges. I'm too busy stuffing my face with food from next door. The only downside of Blue Diamond is it's a bit out of my way, but hey, I can't really mark them down for that, right? It just means I usually end up at worse laundromats that are more conveniently located. If I ever find myself in a living situation with on site laundry it would be a tremendous accomplishment but I might even miss this place a little. And I've only been here a couple times so far!
