No bread was served prior to dinner. Ribeye steak was very thin. Vegetables served with the excellent hot Halibut was cold as can be. Could not get refills of ice tea. Desert took forever to receive and it was the smallest piece of cheesecake I've ever been served. Had this seasoned waiter before and hope I never have to sit in his station again. My friend took me here for my birthday. He had mentioned this restaurant & of course I went onto Yelp to check out this place & was impressed with the pictures & reviews. I love the decor inside this place & their sign outdoors. While driving to Lake Havasu I went on-line & made reservations for that night as we didn't want to risk not being able to go to dinner. It was easy to reserve on-line but we wanted to sit @ the bar but that wasn't an option so I went with reserving a spot for 2 in the dining room & when we arrived I had asked if we could sit @ the bar instead. It was pretty packed but we did find 2 seats together. Michael was our bartender, I had to ask him what his name was (for my Yelp review of course!) as he didn't have a name tag on. I ordered a chocolate martini that he made & OMG it was soooooo delicious. I also ordered 2 starburst shots and those were very good with a strawberry taste to them. 5 stars for Michael's bartending skills. I started off with shrimp cocktail that was good. I went with the lobster tail dinner with veggies & a baked potato. Lobster was good & the veggies tasted amazing!! Only bad thing was I got this super small portion and the baked potato was old. Visiting the area and was craving seafood. It must be hard to find decent oysters around here because it would take six of these to make one normal oyster. I've never seen oysters so tiny in my life--I was honestly shocked. The Creole shrimp is actually the showstopper. Yet wish the sauce was just a tad bit thicker. Yet I'm a hard critic given that I've had several variations of this dish throughout the world and found a thicker sauce really compliments the shrimp and is perfect for extra bread dipping. The app with pita I'm assuming is their version of hummus which was really just confusing to me. Something just tastes off to me yet this may be a regional favorite. The ambience is super noisy. There's a lot of hard walls and Glass and it's hard to have a discussion. The tables are so close together and there was this obnoxious gal talking with a nasal voice so close by that it made it very uncomfortable. That's not necessarily cha bones fault but they need to do something about the level of noise. When I ask for some A1 sauce for my steak, the gal gave me a look like that's a no-no but she brought me some. The steak was not so good. That was really a no-no. It was an OK steak at best. My wife was thoroughly pleased with her food and I'm so glad because we were celebrating her birthday. They do a spectacular birthday candle, which is more like a sparkler, which was a lot of fun. And they do serve a nice appetizer, which is some warm pita bread and a nice dip almost like a onion dip. Very good. As we were waiting for our food, I noticed a bus person setting up a table across the way, and she did what I consider a big no no. After putting the fresh table covering on while she was setting up the vinyl booklet that the check from the previous Diner fell on the floor. She picked it up and put it on the fresh table covering. If someone from the health department had seen what I saw they would've probably shut the place down. You don't pick something up off the floor and put it on the table of for the next diners to be dealing with and not even knowing it. This is now our favorite restaurant in Lake Havasu. Beth and the staff are all amazing. The food is the best. And Happy Hour runs until 6 PM and includes so many great tapas and drink specials. And it runs 6 days a week! It is always busy so make reservations. We spent my stepdad's 101st birthday here last week. He often goes there alone and they always treat him so special and take care of him. He can't see real well so they will tell him what's on the menu. And because he uses a walker, they always get him seated quickly. The food is truly great, from creativity to plating. Most of the menu items come as a full meal or as tapas (half price during Happy Hour). Genuinely cannot beat this happy hour, like, at all. We ordered six tapas plates and every single one was delicious. I'm still shocked that we only spent around $50 total... truly insane in the best way. At that price point, you'd expect teeny tiny portions or food that's just "meh," but that couldn't be farther from the truth here. We tried the hummus, filet mignon, beef and chicken satay, chicken lettuce wraps, and the fried zucchini, and honestly, there wasn't a single miss. 10/10! This was our second visit in the last month for a birthday celebration.. and it definitely won't be our last. Happy hour is always on point--the food, drinks, and atmosphere never disappoint. But what really made this visit stand out was our server, Jared. Holy moly... he was absolutely fantastic! We had a party of eight for my birthday, and my grown nieces were in town and let's just say they're a little... extra. Jared handled our loud, high-maintenance crew with so much patience, humor, and kindness. We loved the back-and-forth banter, and he made us feel like we were his only table all night. A huge shoutout to the food runners too! They were just as friendly, patient, and on top of everything. I'm so happy we have a place like this in town where you can relax, laugh way too loud, and feel genuinely welcome. Cha Bones was definitely the place to be on a Friday night--it was packed! We had a 5:45 reservation and were seated around 6:05, which wasn't bad considering how busy it was. Once we got to our table, our waiter greeted us quickly and was great about honoring happy hour pricing, which was a nice bonus. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and tempura vegetables to go along with our wine--both were flavorful and a great way to kick off the meal. For dinner, two of us shared the salmon, and I really appreciated that they allow you to split the plate with sides for each person. It made sharing easy without feeling like you were missing out. For dessert, we tried the bananas Foster and cheesecake. The bananas Foster was good, but didn't quite wow me. The cheesecake, however, was delicious and definitely the better choice to end the night. One thing to note--the dining area does get pretty noisy when it's full, so expect a lively atmosphere. What a great surprise! You need to come from 3-6 pm during happy hour for half price tapas and $4 domestic beers and great deals on well drinks and house wine. The creole shrimp was my favorite, but also the shrimp cocktail, and oysters Chabones. When you offer steak, seafood, pizza, pasta, salads, random appetizers like chicken satay the vision gets lost. The food quality suffers. Blackened halibut was dry. Zucchini was grey and old and the carrots were basically raw. Potatoes water logged. Steaks were tough. Sugar was forgot in the creme brûlée. Tasted like rotten milk. Chris and chef confirmed someone forgot to put sugar after tasting the crème brûlée. Some positives about the food: They brought out a sparkler for my brother birthday on cheesecake which was very special. The complimentary bread was hot and fresh with butter. The scallops were cooked perfectly. I want to highlight Beth and Chris for their outstanding customer service. They remained professional, accountable and humble. They went above and beyond to make sure we left feeling well fed and satisfied. I genuinely believe Cha Bones would benefit from a menu revamp that focuses on meat on the bones ( like the wild boar currently on the menu) considering the name. I was surprised beef ribs weren't on the menu. I believe this place can turn around with a few minor adjustments. I see real potential here and I hope this honest review helps the business owner with a fresh perspective. We happened to be there for happy hour which makes small plates 1/2 off. For our first round we ordered oysters on the half shell, chili rellano (my personal favorite), beef satay, and stuffed mushrooms. Wow! Everything was really good. The oysters tasted fresh, the satay was on point, the stuffed 'shrooms were delicious, but the rellano, way over the top! Being an experienced rellano connoisseur, I would say this as one of the best I've ever had. And this isn't even a mexican place! Second round was seared ahi and ichiban. My beautiful bride exclaimed the ahi was her favorite. The ichiban was perfectly prepared. Service was outstanding. Wife enjoyed her margaritas (nothing fancy, just house). They don't have beer taps so I just enjoyed a couple of bottles of Miller Light. Being from the metro Phoenix area, I can say I've never had better tapas there (or from just about anywhere for that matter). We had another great experience at Cha-Bones during Desert Storm weekend. We were a party of five with a baby, and the staff took great care of us from start to finish--even with how busy the city was. The service was on point, and our server, Taylor, was excellent--attentive, professional, and easy to work with. The food was outstanding. I ordered the T-bone, and it was cooked to perfection. One of the guys in our group ordered a filet and added a lobster tail on the side--he said the filet had great flavor on its own, and the lobster tail was one of the best he's ever had. This was our third or fourth time dining here, and it's been consistently great every visit. The restaurant is clean, well-run, and very professional--you can tell they take pride in what they do.
