I still went to see Dr. Cha during the two years I was living in Tyler, TX. But now I live in Houston, and the drive is just a tad too far. I'm not sure I can find a dentist as good has Dr. Cha.
Even though I'm no long his patient, I thought I'd put in a good word for him about his dental implant skills. My left bottom molar had root canal and a gold crown. That was done around 2000-01. Apparently, the same molar had abscess and needed another root canal. Dr. Cha suggested instead that I get an implant. I was hesitant at first. My mom had told me about horror stories of dental implants gone wrong. But I really didn't like the idea of root canal every dozen years or so. I opted for the implant. I'll be honest, it's a long drawn out process. First, tooth extraction. Let it completely heal for a month or two. Second, implant the post/screw. Let that settle into the bone for another several weeks. Third, put the "fake tooth" cap on the post/screw. At first, it feels so oversized and misaligned. I told Dr. Cha, "I think it's not the right size." He explained that it's because I've gotten used to not having a tooth there for couple months; once I get used to the new molar, I'll realize it is the right fit. It's been more than three years now, and I'm a satisfied patient. You can't tell it's an implant tooth. read more
