I found BW Fertilizing on Yelp in early March 2026. He was "pleased" to provide me with a quote…read morefor 3100 sq ft of lawn that I needed to have replaced as well as a 6-step lawn maintenance program for the new lawn and the remainder of my existing lawn. I paid 50% of the required down payment at that time. Within 2-3 weeks he requested the remaining amount for this work due to recent business expenses and I accommodated that request. In removing the existing sod with his machine, he damaged the concrete barrier between the lawn and the alley which he denied saying the tree service (J & J's Tree Service) that was out there at the time backed into the concrete while in the alley. The owner of tree service who was there at the time indicated that BW did the damage and that is consistent photos showing the concrete being pushed out toward the alley. In the preparation of the new lawn, the agreement stated that he would put in premium top soil but he did not. He did put mesh with attached straw over the newly seeded part of the lawn; however, he did not clamp the mesh and a wind rolled up a substantial portion of the mesh and blew it into the middle of the street. After calling him, he did come out and put the mesh back over the lawn and clamp it down. Within that time period I also agreed and fully paid him $1500 to rototill an additional part of my lawn so that I would have a garden and this included approximately 5 cubic yards of top soil which he delivered with his truck and left in a single pile along with his truck leaving deep ruts in my established lawn when he delivered it. He said in a text to me that BW would come out and spread the pile evenly throughout the garden and he repeatedly texted that he would come out and repair the lawn ruts with an additional text saying that he was a "man of his word". With that said he never came out. In addition, he has not delivered on the lawn maintenance 6-step program. Over a period of months I have requested that he come out and repair the lawn and more recently to continue with the 6-step program according to the schedule listed by him in our contract. I have never received a response except that I need to be patient and that I should call another landscaping company as they would charge much more than the amount he quoted me. Apparently he has no intention of completing the work or the damage that he did. Finally, the appearance of my "new" yard after 3 months after seeding does not appear to be "thriving". I do not recommend BW Fertilizing.

This guy is about as unprofessional as I can imagine. The lack of response to quote request was a blessing in disguise. Avoid at all costs!!! His multiple juvenile responses confirms the opinion.

The roof on my small 1950s bungalow was showing its age and had a few leaks over the years so it needed replacement. I decided early on that I wanted to go with a local company with an established record of quality work and offered a solid warranty. This criteria eliminated a lot of roofers, and I narrowed my choices to three companies that had solid standing in the community. All the companies I contacted had good reputations and recommendations, and the bids came in about the same. But I chose West Michigan Roofing, and recommend you do too. Edward, the Grand Rapids branch manager, did a thorough inspection of my roof and provided an in depth explanation of the process, the how and why of the materials that go under the shingles, installation, the shingles themselves, their crews, and warranty options. He did his homework before our appointment, arriving with overhead photos of my house and identifying areas of concern. It was a lot of information - some might say too much -- but it gave me confidence West Michigan Roofing would do a great job and stand by its work. They also offered a wider choice and quality of shingles than the other companies I contacted. Having a roof torn off and replaced is disruptive in the best of circumstances, but especially when you have a shared driveway as I do. My neighbors report that Dale, the supervisor and the work crew were conscientious and polite (I was at work while they were there). It turned into a two day job as the crew discovered there were three, not two, layers of shingles on the house. Yet the crew cleaned up at the end of the first work day, and when I came home at the end of the second day the only way you'd know they were there, other than the beautiful new roof, was the dumpster in the driveway. They also did a good job of protecting perennials and other plantings in my front yard. It hasn't rained (or snowed--it's June, after all!) since the roof was installed, but I can't imagine that there will be any problems with the roof. And in the unlikely event there are, I know West Michigan Roofing will stand by their work. I encourage you to contact them when you need to replace your roof. You won't be sorry.

Jessie came for the estimate, she agreed to move forward and everything was good, we settled on the rate and the time and day. My aunt liked her and she is also insured and bonded which made us even more comfortable with her services. She emailed the day prior saying that she was sick and couldn't come, understandable. We rescheduled. The day prior to the reschedule day - I emailed, called and texted to confirm that she was still coming. Nothing, crickets, no contact - completely ghosted us, no call/no show. The day of the rescheduled cleaning service came - and the same thing happened. I called, emailed and texted "are you at my aunt's house?". Nothing, crickets, completely ghosted us. I saw on a Facebook post at 10 am that she was on a field trip. Lovely. I again texted her and said how unprofessional and disrespectful it was that she did this and that we were depending on her. She texted me back and said "sorry, I emailed you", which was a lie. Why now are you answering my text? I live in another state and we had several future medical arrangements made based on when the house was going to be cleaned so that my aunt could get the in-home healthcare that she needed. I was over it and done with Jessie and wanted to find someone else but my cousin reached out to her again and asked her if she could still clean and she said yes. Well, ya don't say....she did the same exact thing again. NO CALL, NO SHOW, NO TEXT...nothing. It's quite ironic that the company name is Maids with Morals because if she had any morals at all she wouldn't have done what she did. If she wanted to pass on the job, I would have understood but she led us on and as a result we had to push back all of the other services needed for my aunt while finding someone else to clean. Stay clear of this business, you've been warned.

My home needed a deep cleaning, especially the bathrooms. They came on time, were friendly and professional. One bathroom had stuff sticking on the floor that I couldn't remove, and they took care of it. The shower was disgusting but they cleaned it and made it like new. They cleaned areas I forgot needed cleaning and did a wonderful job on the details. They worked hard and it showed. Laura came out to my home to give an estimate and explain their services. She was friendly and easy to talk with. She didn't try to upsell.

Quality, detail, responsiveness, professionalism - 5 stars! Plus, they're a friendly, family owned and operated local business. I found them on Thumbtack since Yelp only has a few larger (overpriced) options. I was a little hesitant because there weren't more than a half dozen reviews on them, but after seeing their work, I can tell they get all their jobs from personal referrals and have no need of external advertisement! That being said, I HIGHLY recommend them for any cleaning projects you need done. Paul Gettig (owner) even told me about the products he uses and recommends to help keep my place clean. I was incredibly impressed with how well they handled my hard water stains (well water) as I've tried every product anyone has recommended and even hired other cleaners. These guys will have my future business for sure! Give them a call, they're friendly, responsive and quite reasonable (most weekly whole-house cleanings are $100-125, deep cleaning my bathrooms cost $50): 269-591-0717. Their hours are super flexible (1a-11pm, they came over at 8:30pm Thursday night since I often don't get home from work til later!).
