seriously don't even waste your time calling them, simply use the website or just go to the office…read more I'm so frustrated. Got a letter in the mail about a missed phone call appointment- to call the number listed and reschedule it. Well I tried to just reschedule it on the benefitsCal website, but the website will not allow me to schedule the appointment. So next option is to call the welfare office and I cannot get anyone to ANSWER THE PHONE, I called 4 times yesterday and Ive called 3 times so far today. After verifying my identity the pre recorded voice says "please hold for the next avalible worker-due to the high volume of calls we are unable to accept your call please call back at a later time" And hangs up on me.

I tried calling just to get another medical card mailed to me and I could not get through and I…read morecalled several times for several days. I ended up having to go into the office only for them to call me while I was IN THE LOBBY to take my information for my card to be mailed out! I've also tried uploading files and updating information through their website and nothing happens until you call to tell them that the information was sent in, but most of the time you have to physically show up just to tell them something has changed or else your case goes unattended. And the fact that they make you go through such an extensive automated system just so that, at the end, they can hang up on you is so extremely frustrating. One of the people assigned to me also didn't fill out my application correctly even though I tried explaining my situation to her several times. Her mistakes gave me so many problems later on when I tried applying to other services.

This establishment discriminates Catholics. A few years ago I applied for a position they needed to…read morebe filled watching over kids, an after school program. Since I was a tutor and volunteer at saint Stan teaching catechism on Saturday's I applied. My interview was going great until I mentioned I was Catholic, the ladies that interviewed me gave me a weird look and then said that my strong religious beliefs didn't aline with the position. They then had the audacity to ask me if I would volunteer with no pay. So basically my religion was an issue for me to get paid an hourly wage but it was okay if my services were free. So disappointing because until then I always felt positive about the Salvation Army. I didn't want to expose them back then, but I think this needs to be brought to EVERYONES attention because this is discrimination and violates my first amendment rights

We really try so hard around here don't we?…read more For a town known for American graffiti... Not really sure why we shied away from the whole Cruise thing. I get it can cause issue, but to move American graffiti to where it's such an odd time of year, it really deters from tourism and showing off the best of what we can be. I think bringing downtown to life is a good idea, as well as free things and graceada Park, and other events around town. I was born and raised here, I fondly remember the 4th of July parade, free fireworks at multiple places around town, concerts at graceada park, and events all the time. I get we've been going through covid, and there's a financial crisis going on in this country.. but some of the best of what Modesto can be doesn't really cost much. It's just getting people to come out, show off their cars, and everybody just get along like we used to. I think we should take advantage of beautiful places like McHenry village, the downtown plaza, the shopping center at briggsmore and sisk, and other areas that could provide places for people to just be do and see. Maybe have two types of American graffiti? One with the classic cars and then one with cars that have been completely tricked out like lowriders, the racers, and maybe even people getting froggy with electric cars? Our city is a car town, and I don't think we should shy away from that... Modesto has always had its problems, but there's a lot good about this town. I genuinely Believe in us. Next big event, let's all go enjoy!

Dealing with the City of Modesto is extremely challenging, trying to cancel utilities at a rental…read moreproperty...the online forms never work & if you call the Utilities department you will be behind 45 callers & it could take 2 hours? The reason for so many callers in queue is because the online system SUCKS. Very very poor service . It is no different for any other departments. Not sure what the Mayor does???
