If you have a layover in Santiago de Chile or just looking for a reasonably priced fare into the city than look no further. Centro Puerto and another bús company offer daily rides to and from the center of the city. Fares are very cheap and the ride is nice. Upon leaving the airport you will see a sign advertisement for rides. Once you purchase your ticket you wait outside for a charter bus to pick you up. There's a few choices in stops that you driver can make, although ,everyone seemed to get off at the final stop which is right smack dab in the city. I never worried about timing as they came like clockwork. They said every 10-15 minutes but there was always 2-3 busses waiting in the city and even after purchasing my ticket at the airport there was already a bus waiting outside. So no worries with time at all! Just hop on and enjoy. read more

There are two ways to get to/from the airport to city center: CentroPuerto & TurBus. I took Turbus from the airport and CentroPuerto to the airport. Both cost the same (1700 pesos one way - about $3). These are way cheaper than taxis, and stop at a few random places and metro stations. Turbus doesn't stop as far east as CentroPuerto, but ends at the Alameda complex, which is next to a metro station. CentroPuerto begins/ends at Los Heroes station, in the center lane/park area. The bus itself is alright, getting run down. Residents also take this bus, and there is no area for large luggage, so you either have to keep it in the aisle or block a seat. You pay the driver directly in cash and he gives a little receipt. You can purchase a roundtrip for 3000 pesos. If you are at the airport, the bus area is after the arrivals area (get away from the taxi hounds), to the right, outside door 6 (I think) in the center aisle. Turbus has a cashier stand by the bus stop, but CentroPuerto does not (it's inside the terminal, but only at certain hours). read more

There isn't much to say about the CentroPuerto other than it is the best service to get to and from the airport on a budget. If you don't have too much luggage and make the time, head over to the Los Heroes metro station (where they start their route) and find the blue bus parked by the plaza (in front of the metro exit). Buses come routinely about every 10 minutes and they wait to fill up or about another 10 minutes before starting their route. You should keep in mind that during peak hours (around 11am until about 8pm) it takes a little over an hour to get to the airport. When there isn't traffic it takes about 40 minutes. The airport workers also take this bus, so keep that in mind since once you start getting to the end of the line there usually is no standing room and there is only a small place to put luggage. So if you are coming with a ton of luggage either be the first one to get on and then sit right in front of the luggage area (so you can keep an eye on it) or go during more quite hours. This is also true on the way from the airport, there are usually lines to get on and it gets packed - so if you want to grab a seat (recommended) try to be the first in line or wait another 10 minutes for the next one. They run 365 days a year and leave at 5:55am from Los Heroes and 6am from the airport and service ends 23:30 (from the airport) and 22:30 (from Los Heroes). Tip: If it is not a peak hour and you are in a rush, I recommend taking the CentroPuerto from Pajaritos metro station as it is quicker to get their via the metro than bus. Prices are only a bit cheaper if you buy an "ida y vuelta" or two-way fare which costs $2.800 whereas one-way is 1.450 and you don't have the pressure of using the second ticket. You pay once you are on the bus so come with cash! In the evenings, a centropuerto leaves every hour from the airport. read more
