I took my patient to the emergency room. We arrived around noon because he started experiencing severe back and lower abdominal pain. I provided his entire medical history so they wouldn't waste time searching for the cause. They discovered his aorta had ruptured, and the first thing the doctors asked me was if I had any money or major medical expenses. I told them I didn't have any Mayor médical expenses, but I did have money for his treatment. However, they were asking for over $1,500,000 (0ne million 500 hundred pesos). I told them I didn't have it, but that they should do everything possible to save my husband; I would get the money however I could. Time continued to pass, and the bill kept increasing. Then they told me we needed $500,000 (five hundred thousand pesos) to start the surgery, an amount I couldn't come up with in a few hours. Around 11:30 pm - 12:00 am, a doctor told me it wasn't possible to treat my husband because they needed $500,000 for materials. He told me to transfer my husband to a public hospital. I filled out the paperwork to have him discharged and taken to another hospital, but my husband died at 1:30 am, before the ambulance arrived. Even so, the ambulance charged more than 50% without providing the service. I'm sharing my story because I don't want anyone else to experience what I went through at that hospital. My husband was a U.S. citizen. In the USA, they treat the patient first and then provide the receipt for expenses later, but at this hospital, they did the complete opposite. They lost all medical ethics. Even if I had had the money and they had started the operation, because of the hours they let pass, my husband would still be dead. To all the people who read this message, Mexicans and foreigners, I ask that you consider my story so that you do not suffer the anguish that I experienced; I felt that they profited from my pain.

On May 5, 2025 upon discharge from Hospital Faro de Mayab in Merid, I was detained against my will…read moreby their billing department after disputing services. They Extorted money from me. Further, our American cc and debit card processing company disallowed payment to their bank acct due to it being on a banking international watch list according to the agency. Further, the billing staff and surgeon were openly hostile. They also refuse to give me records which were agreed to be part of the billing agreement - this significantly effected my real diagnosis of a life threatening problem they hid from me. Also, they hid cardiac results so that they could keep ordering expensive tests in gastro since they do not have the expertise to treat the real issue which is cardiac so they could keep waisting my time and money pursuing a bogus diagnosis. Being detained with force is very serious and horrifying - 4 billing guards surrounded me in my hospital bed wearing only underwear during a doctor exam demanding payment of the disputed bill. . The bilking staff laughed at me and refused to call a taxi after the surgeon left my abdomen wound he made open and pouring fluid out so my pants were soaking and the uber refused to let me in his care. The doctor told me to buy a hair clip and use that to pinch ofc the leak...True! Completely outrageous. I believe the billing staff, working like cartel, hate Americans. They were openly laughing. I paid them over 15,000 USD for some tests snd got defrauded, extorted, detained like a criminal with threat of force and treated like poo. Every American should know the truth. The hospital has been given months to make this right and did nothing but bullpoo. I believe that the Directors and admin staff absolutely hate Americans and are running coordinated fraud scams on patients. Attached please find photo of the puddle of my abdominal fluid that was left leaking out by their surgeon. This was on the entrance to the facility taken at 7:36 pm on May 5, 2025 upon discharge. The surgeon told me on the phone, without examining me, to buy a hair clip and use it to pinch his faulty stitch job - I am not kidding. That amount of fluid accumulated in under 5 minutes. It persisted for hours til i found strong tape to hold the hole closed for three days. The photo is time and date stamped in the file.

Certainly the best in Merida now. As a brand new facility everything is up to date. Lots of…read morebilingual staff. Hallways are very wide, light and airy, especially appreciated with social distancing. Easy free parking, very easy to get to just off the Periferico. Have now had excellent care several times including an inpatient session. Only negative: food is awful; possibly impacted by COVID restrictions. But at least having a guest meal brought up only costs about USD3.50.
