To say we have been delighted with the teachers, curriculum and staff would be an understatement, the preschool in his Waldorf, certified and almost all teachers have received Waldorf training, which is exactly what we were looking for. They also presented a strong social justice ethos in which everyone seem to engage with in one way or another. We went to the open houses of all Waldorf and Waldorf inspired schools in San Francisco and Marin and ultimately chose Golden Bridges not only for their amazing program, but also because all of the parents with which we interacted were the kind of people we like to hang out with. We also love the fact that their pricing was lower than many private schools and that they offered tuition assistance as much as they can to those in need. There are also plenty of opportunities to engage in helping other families, as well as the school, and we have found a strong sense of community Helping one another in so many ways. This new school season has been even more exciting as the growth of the school has greatly expanded! The school has an amazing farm in San Francisco, which is my favorite part and I think my child's too. Planting, harvesting, taking care of the chickens; taking care of the Earth is definitely deep rooted in GBS. We have awesome parties and workday spread out throughout the year and we even do extra volunteering because we love it so much. The school is also right next to McLaren Park and one day a week my child gets to hike through the park while stopping and engaging in learning. During the pandemic for two years, it was basically a forest school which was the most incredible thing I could've wished for. The overall nurturing vibe of the school is incredible and community and care is definitely felt at every turn. I could not recommend this school more if I tried and I am truly jealous yet joyful how much my child loves school!

But even the inside days have plenty of outdoor playtime and the classrooms themselves are like enchanted forests. I also love how easy it is to communicate with the teachers and admin- I feel like we are all a team working in tandem to raise our kiddos in community. We are also so excited and proud to be part of a school that is making anti-bias an active and critical part of the everyday curriculum. If you are looking for a school for your kiddo you should check them out! They host all Sorts of tours and info sessions throughout the year to make it really easy to learn more.

Huge shout out to maestra Karina and maestra Claudia! You can drop off you kid and know for certain they will be loved and rest at ease. The communication with the office needs to improve. They have made such a strong impression on my daughter and have shaped her learning not only through unique projects, but also by helping her develop socially and emotionally. They take the time to understand each child's unique personality, helping them grow with confidence and curiosity. The bond that my daughter has developed with all of her teachers - as well as the broader set of teachers that form the PP community - has been amazing to see. I've been most impressed by the Spanish curriculum at Primeros Pasos. The teachers have helped my daughter truly learn Spanish and prepare her well for a spanish immersion kindergarten program. My daughter is constantly engaged  - whether it's through art, storytelling, music, yoga, or play and this has really sparked her creativity and thinking. Beyond the classroom, the sense of community among parents is something truly special. At both the campuses, there is a strong culture of families looking out for each other, being inclusive, and really being involved in the school community. My daughter knows her classmates and many of their family members and we've made some amazing friends through the community as well.  Lastly, I'll highlight that the school's administration and operations have been extremely reliable. There are no surprise days off and there is strong teacher retention. We've come to rely on PP as a really solid and safe environment for our daughter.  We're so grateful to be part of the Primeros Pasos family and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a preschool that truly nurtures the whole child!

There was no teacher turnover which is amazing as the teachers really get to know your child with all their quirks and can help through whatever you are working on with your child. They were especially patient and helpful with potty training! There is strong parent community with a monthly pizza get together at the park and an active WhatsApp group. What I especially love about Little Tree is that the kids that go here are so sweet and kind, and I think the school really helps with that through their focus on interpersonal relationships and social skills. My son was accepted to all the private schools we applied to as he was well prepared for this next stage of his education.

Our child is entering his second year here and it's almost the same team as when he started a year ago. This says a lot about how they work together as one cohesive unit with shared values and a consistent approach to early childhood development. After checking out a few in home daycare options and other neighborhood preschools, the warmth here is palpable and genuine. They are always intentional and almost giddy w new activities and fun projects to do w the kids that center around monthly units of study. This is not your "bring home a cutesy piece of art for your parents to hang on the fridge" place. Instead they let them explore colors and textures, and you can see the progress in your child's dexterity as they progress from gross to finer motor skills. I mean, my kid is still very much in the gross motor skills realm and that's fine by us. :) They also take grand summer bus trips (ex: to the Ferry Building or the Salesforce gondola ride) and a weekly trip to the local park. The attention to a play based philosophy and to fostering positive social interaction is evident in our kid's language skills. Our child will readily tell us what did or did not happen each day and how happy he feels when he's at school. He tells us that bees love pollen and that this was something new to him. He regularly tells us when he needs more room or when he is not ready to end his play at home as well . We feel comfortable sharing feedback and finding common ground in our communication with the staff and appreciate the evident love and joy they have for our kid and all kids in the program. They make a point of allowing time to chat about his day at pickup which is rare in most settings where the evening pickup rush can be hard to even say a quick greeting. They recognize how important the line of communication is w parents and always have examples of what he did at school. Lastly, I would say they will meet you where your child is in their development and support you with your parenting decisions whether with regards to potty training, food, or sleep. This level of partnership is unmatched and only possible because they are in tune w our child and with the range of where kids are on the journey. We love sending him to Little Tree. It's safe, loving, enriching, and incredible. As you consider where you'd like to send your child, we highly recommend this neighborhood school. The cost is absolutely reasonable and you don't have to do an hour of commuting just to find the elusive perfect place. It's where it should be: down the street within walking distance of home.

When we were first touring preschools, I was looking for a couple things: - Cantonese immersion - Assisted with potty training - Provided meals - Respectful environment We toured many places, and knew right away that this would be the one when we met Ms. Barbara, Joe, and Serena. First of all, in setting up the initial meeting, they were very responsive. Second of all, Ms. Barbara was very excited to explain everything about the program, from the daily schedule, to mealtimes, to how she supports the kids' emotional development. She even gave us details like how they chose the flooring and furniture. I could tell right away that she was very invested in the students and the school. Finally, the best part was how well they interacted with my kids. Even from the first meeting, they were very caring and patient. For their day-to-day curriculum, they have a great schedule with outdoor time, art projects, schoolwork, and exercise. They also garden, go to the playground, and make food. My kids taught me how to make spam musubi and ants on a log after they learned from school! They also do naptime - Ms. Barbara can get my kids to nap regularly, much better than I can. For mealtimes, I don't have to worry about anything. They provide 3 delicious home-cooked, balanced meals with variety of vegetables, grains, and meat. They also taught my kids how to eat independently. Ms. Barbara sends us pictures and videos every day, so we get to see what the kids are up to. In the beginning, we were anxious because our kids had never been outside of our care before. But the messages calmed our worries; we could see them having fun doing so many different activities. I just checked my WhatsApp -- Ms. Barbara has sent me 4,293 pictures and videos of my kids over the past 2 years! Over the past 2 years, my son has flourished at Brilliant Kids. - On the language learning, he started out knowing almost no Cantonese. Now he holds full conversations in Cantonese, jabbering on with his grandparents and even random people like his haircutter. He even got 95/100 on the SFUSD language test! I attribute that all to Brilliant Kids, because it's truly an immersion school. Even the students speak to each other in Chinese during playtime. - On the academic side, he started off not knowing how to hold a pencil. Now he can write all his letters and numbers, and he's even starting to read and spell some simple words. They also learn Chinese characters. Brilliant Kids prepared him very well for kindergarten. - Most importantly, on the social development side, he has matured so much. Of course some of it is developmental, but most of it is due to his teachers. My son has some VERY challenging behaviors with huge outbursts, and we were very worried about him. Ms. Barbara and the teachers were patient yet firm with him and taught him many techniques to calm down. He can recite it now: "breathe deep, count to 10, think about something happy." At home, he is better at sharing, helping out, and letting go of things that used to bother him. One time, he started to get angry, but he paused and started breathing in and out. I was so impressed! We will always be grateful for the teachers who lovingly worked with him even through his crazy explosions. In addition, Ms. Barbara goes above and beyond to show care for the children and families: - During Halloween, she organized a family field trip to pumpkin patch, and gave us pumpkin, goodie bags, and yummy food - During Christmas, the kids performed songs and got visit from Santa. She also sends home gifts for the family (for example, canvas print of our family from the pumpkin patch) - During birthdays, she makes the kids feel very special. She has them do a birthday project, buys cake for the kids, and has everybody sing a song. She also sends the kids home with a special gift and balloon! One unfortunate thing is that my daughter got sick on the day of her birthday celebration, so she couldn't go to school. Ms. Barbara offered to deliver the cake and gift to us so my daughter wouldn't miss out! - For graduation, the kids practice for months on their songs and speech. The result was so amazing and adorable. She also gives each graduate a graduation gift, framed picture, graduation certificate, and big photo album filled with their pictures from Brilliant Kids. This preschool photo album is now my son's favorite book to "read" at bedtime. Another good sign is that I notice many current students are younger siblings of previous students. Families come back and stay at Brilliant Kids for many years. We are lucky to have a younger daughter, so we get to stay at Brilliant Kids for a couple more years too! My kids love their teachers and friends at Brilliant Kids. I am thankful that they had such a great start to their education.
