Because she couldn't understand how my symptoms were connected, she instead chose to only concentrate on one of them, telling me I must be imagining the other one (sudden and severe acne!) Also, there is nothing free about this clinic, I went in on a Saturday and was charged nearly 40 Euro (an extra cost that wasn't mentioned beforehand) only to be given a prescription for something that is available to buy anywhere, which I have tried before and hasn't worked. You'd be better off going to another clinic with an experienced doctor who will actually listen to your symptoms, won't try to gaslight you and tell you it's in your head if they don't understand what's wrong with you (although perhaps if you're a man you'll have more chance of getting her to listen to you) and will probably charge you less.

C'est juste incroyable comment les secrétaires n'en ont plus rien à faire de rien. Et là, ce faire traiter comme ça simplement parce qe je pose une simple question totalement légitime on me répond de bout en blanc "mais si vous critiquez le médecin, vous pouvez aller ailleurs". Je n'ai jamais critiqué ce médecin ! Je ne le connais même pas ! C'est hallucinant ce que je viens de vivre. C'est le docteur Daens qui m'envoit chez lui. Et je me fais bouffer par une secrétaire complètement désargéable, frustrée qui me propose d'aller voir ailleurs...? C'est la honte pour votre centre. Traiter les patients de cette façon. Evidemment, elle a refusé de me donner son nom et prénom. Je ne risque plus de mettre un pied chez vous. Pour qui vous prenez-vous ?

I am beyond disappointed…read more I had booked this important medical appointment over 2 MONTHS ago, organized my entire trip around it--including flights and a hotel stay--only to be informed at the last minute, just as I was leaving the hotel, that the doctor was not available. This is supposed to be a hospital, not some casual business. A hospital that deals with people's health, people who are traveling, hoping to get help. And cancel last minute with no warning, no backup plan, no respect for the time, money, and effort someone invested to be here? This is not just unprofessional, it's shameful. It shows a total lack of organization, zero care for patients, and complete disregard for human lives. After this experience, I wouldn't trust this hospital with a paper cut. It is unbelievable! It is unprofessional, disrespectful and irresponsible!

Beyond the veneer, however, the service does not live to one's expectations about Belgium's most famous hospital. I am not sure if the ER is badly understaffed or if the doctors and nurses just don't feel like working, but the waiting time is unworthy of an emergency service. In fact I would rather think that the staff is not inclined to take care of patients promptly because when after two hours of waiting in a little room without window I went to look after someone, there were plenty of doctors chatting or just sitting at their desk doing nothing. One one occasion I asked to make a phone call to tell my relatives we were at the ER as my phone battery had died, but they refused to let me use their phone. I told me I could pay for the call, but to no avail. They were completely stubborn and unhelpful. The quality of the treatment was ok, although unimpressive for a top-rated hospital.
