Three years ago I used Homeland title to perform a simple closing on a house we purchased…read more Later that summer I found out they had told the county to send my property tax to a mortgage company, although I did not have a mortgage. Then when I got the bill, the county had my name miss-spelled. Hanover County told me to contact Homeland. I did, and nothing was done. A year later, wen I received the new Tax bill with my name still miss-spelled I called them again, and again they ignored the request. This year we were thinking of selling our house and we went on line and found that they had my house selling for over $ 100K less than the actual sale price. I called and sent them a letter, they replied and asked me to contact them. I did and was told my contact was on vacation, and I asked to speak to someone else. No call back that day, No call back the next or the next. I called and left 4 more voice mails requesting a call back at both their offices, and made 20 calls to individual extensions. no one answers. My suggestion is do not do business with them. They are incompetent and do not fix the problems they create. You find out a lot about a company about how they handle problems, or don't. I have bought and sold 10 houses and they are by far the worst closing, title company I have ever done business with. In my case our issue still isn't fixed and they don't answer their phones. These are all their issues, they admit it, but getting them to fix their mistakes has been tough.

Greg Middleton is the BEST (literally, not hyperbole) person to go around house hunting with, in my opinion. We averaged 4 houses a day, all around Richmond and its suburbs each time I came up, which is nice because after making a four hour round trip, the last thing you want is someone not willing to spend six hours driving all over the city with you. He also didn't murder me in all those empty houses we were seeing, so that is definitely worth another star in my book. That means I didn't get to murder him either, so minus one star if that is what you are looking for in a realtor. (-1 star: too hard to murder) He is also very prompt responding to the million (okay, that one is an exaggeration) questions I had about buying a home for the first time and clearly knows what he is talking about, so that is pretty awesome. He held my hand through ever step of the process. (Figuratively, not literally, so minus one star if that is what you are looking for in a realtor. -1 star: won't literally hold your hand) Overall, I would definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone. Use Greg for your real estate needs, you probably won't get murdered!
