As financial institutions evolved and savings & loans became more like banks credit unions came into the picture to fill the void in many ways. Once exclusive to certain select clientele, pretty much anyone can join any credit union with few qualifications. This small town branch really matches well with the Kaimuki community and is positioned nicely next to Kaimuki Dry Goods. The staff is very friendly and easy to work with and you can tell they enjoy being part of the community. Recently they were participating in a community fund drive to raise money for Kupuna meals. For a $20 donation you received a T shirt and a personal sanitizer kit including wipes, spray and 3 disposable masks. This was part of the Show Aloha Challenge- till 4/25/2020. Check out this great neighborhood credit union- a friendly and caring group.

The staff here has always been very friendly & professional... they're also very efficient, and can handle numerous transactions very quickly. Last but not least, I really appreciate having face-to-face tellers here, as opposed to the remote / upstairs tellers at their 2 downtown locations. Despite the fact that everyone is still wearing masks, it just seems more personable, and it's nice to have that live interaction...perhaps now more than ever! The only 2 downsides to this location are the very limited parking--which is rarely a problem, because everyone gets in & out so quickly--and no shared branching, even for members. That 2nd issue is sometimes a problem for me, as I belong to a couple of different credit unions, most of whom offer shared branch transactions at all of their locations. Great location, hours & customer service... doesn't get much better than that (though it would be 5 stars all the way if they had shared branching)!

There's plenty of parking. The inside is clean and cool. This is your typical neighborhood sized Territorial Savings Bank with just a few tellers at the window and the branch manager. The teller who helped me was friendly and efficient. No issues. Just a quick in and out. It's very convenient to get to, especially if you're heading out. You just take the off ramp before the freeway and the H-1 on-ramp is just on the same road, a couple of blocks away. Overall, all these Territorial Savings Banks are similar. Convenience is a strong factor for me in choosing which one to go to, and the Kahala branch is very convenient.

I opened a Hawaiiusa account a long time ago because they were doing a promotion for teachers. I like that they offer things for teachers. This branch particularly has very nice tellers. The line can sometimes get long, but the tellers are fast and they're so friendly. They all seem to enjoy working here. I like the parking lot. I've never had to wait for a space. I don't have to pull a ticket like at the other downtown Hawaiiusa location, and I don't have to walk so far from my car to get to the doors like at the Ward location. I've never had issues with keeping my money here. I use the online site to check balances and transfer to other accounts. It's been a 10/10 experience using this bank and I would prefer to come to this location as opposed to all the other locations any day. They even have popcorn sometimes. I love popcorn.

I been a state worker for over 10 years and I wish I came in sooner. I spoke with Kiani and it was amazing to hear her talk about the many different things that credit union can offer. I was able to open a checking account, get a credit card & also a debit card in less than 30 minutes. She had a smile throughout the whole time and I truly feel she should be recognized for her service she provided. I am definitely bringing in my family. Mahalo Nui Kiani keep up the great work

Banks provide a critical service and opportunity to individuals and businesses. Banks are…read moreinstitutions that help the economy grow. The former Homestreet Bank now Mechanics Bank, thrives on being that community bank that thrives on community engagement and growing its footprint on the community it serves. I happen to be here on a few occasions because I wanted to do some business with the bank. During the time it was Homestreet Bank and had its offices at 3660 on the Rise pre Covid and then moved the branch to the current office to Kahala Mall where it's now Mechanics Bank due to a recent merger. The Kahala Mall branch is a small branch that is fairly comfortable. They have 3 teller slots for in person transactions and 1 desk for other business, like opening and closing accounts, which is where I was for the most recent visits. My experience here at the former Homestreet Bank at Kahala Mall is a good one. They definitely have competitive rates and can stand head to head with the larger banks that are operating in the state of Hawaii currently. For myself though, I was opening up an account and the account manager was very helpful and professional. The location was very convenient because I come to Kahala Mall periodically and close to home. It was definitely nice to do business here and can rely on Homestreet / Mechanics Bank for my business needs. The staff here are nice and friendly while being professional too. The overall experience here at HomeStreet Bank / Mechanics Bank at Kahala Mall was quite nice and peaceful. When I was there, I was there for about an hour when I was opening an account at HomeStreet Bank / Mechanics Bank and doing other things necessary to make it good. Albert helped me out when I came here and he was very nice and professional. He helped explained everything to me as far as being a new depositor to the bank and the disclosures required. Definitely a nice place to do business. For the most part though, it was a good place to invest my money for the short term while building a nest egg during these uncertain times. Albert was the one who helped me with everything and he was good and positive. Definitely a good guy to do business with. This Homestreet Bank / Mechanics Bank branch is small but has full service amenities. Definitely has air conditioning and comfortable seating when you are waiting for your turn to do your banking needs. I spent about an hour here and possibly will return again soon, if my needs allow me to do so. If you need a bank and it's not the one you prefer, consider HomeStreet Bank / Mechanics bank at Kahala mall. Good service and convenience in east Oahu. I'd definitely recommend it if you don't like the others Honolulu has to offer. Homestreet bank was purchased / merged with Mechanics Bank in 2025. They operate a handful of bank branches on the west coast and in Hawaii, including this one at kahala mall. This one is physically located at 4211 Waialae Avenue, it's near the CVS Longs store and the building where the L&L Hawai'ian barbecue and Jersey Mike's is currently is. They are a regional bank but have a strong presence in Hawaii with 3-4 locations that I know of. They have ATMs and is a full service bank. As far as parking goes for the kahala Mall branch, there's plenty of parking here. Best thing to do is to come early and secure a spot before entering the bank and doing your business. As far as public transportation goes, bus routes 1, 1L, 7, 14 and 23 primarily has routes that come through the area. Consider these options on your next trip to Homestreet bank / Mechanics Bank here at Kahala Mall. There is also Uber and Lyft if you need these modes of transportation to get here for your trip to the east side of the island and to the bank's location. And so, if you love a bank that's not of the larger ones in the state of Hawaii and don't like credit unions either, consider Homestreet Bank / Mechanics Bank for your financial needs. 4.5 stars for the overall experience Support local!
