I've been a long time patient at CIPS, their councilors are great. Their reception staff is incompetent, cold, and insensitive. Example 1) One receptionist was scheduling me for my next appt, the receptionist between us on the phone loudly "shh'd" me. The first receptionist did nothing to correct her or put us in a better position to reschedule. Example 2) I had to reschedule my appt, got the answering machine, left message I had to reschedule. One week later I did not hear back so I call again, successfully make an appointment. The following day I see a voicemail from CIPS replying to my first voicemail saying they couldn't get me in for a while. The counselors at CIPS helped me turn my life around. I have nothing but love for them. I highly recommend their services if you're battling subtance abuse. I was skeptical at first, but I've been sober for 177 days- that says a lot. My group members are now like family to me. Their love and support has been instrumental in my recovery. We are all equals, we are all compassionate, we don't judge or shame or guilt one another if someone slips. I can't put into words how grateful I am. The actual therapists I worked with at CIPS were excellent. The office, not so much. They consistently failed to call me back, even after I brought up the issue multiple times and confirmed my contact information. It took them well over six months to bill me, and while insurance was involved and probably delayed things, I find it extremely hard to believe it would delay a simple therapy bill by six months. To top it off, when I finally received the bill--which was the first written communication from them I received at all, even after going in to ask when to expect the bill--it said the balance was a month overdue. I benefited from seeing the doctors that work at Central Iowa Psychological Services and I thank them for that, but the office is poorly run and I will be ending my relationship with them because of the unprofessional way I was treated. read more

as I have recently seen an intern at compass tree and they were booked full with other patients I had to look into other options for therapy. I called to set up an initial intake after taking my information the first time was told they would call me by Thursday or Friday to let me know their decision. This was 4 MONTHS AGO! Then now that my lovely intern's done with her schooling and is no longer an intern, I called again to see why I never got a call. Got the answering machine, called again the next business day and whoever took my information the first time didn't even put it down. so had to do the whole intake again. Was told again Thursday or Friday would get a call. Today is Friday. No call from this trashy place. No email. NOTHING. Called again just 10 minutes ago and got the answering machine. I will be talking to someone for sure but it won't be them. I wouldn't ask them to wipe my a** cause they can't even take down simple information and put it where it goes. DO NOT GO HERE! ABSOLUTLY TERRIBLE. I never met with a therapist never even talked to one. so no clue about the therapy they offer cause you cant even get past the initial intake. read more

Terrible place. Our adult daughter was abused by spouse & placed in a temporary "safe" house a few blocks from this office. I took her on a Friday to get an appointment for ADD testing & therapy. Door was open, but no one there. Finally 1 therapist appeared & said they aren't open on Fridays. She got appointment the next week. The "therapist" who evaluated her, called us & left voicemail with a request for us to call back to supply more "family" information. We returned call & were told no one with that name worked there, "but maybe it was a student". Were told someone would call back. No one did. Several days later we called again- same story. Several days later we called again & asked to speak to the manager/owner & were told he was out of office for several days, but "Warren" would return our call & address our concerns when he returned to the office in a few days. That was 6 weeks ago & no one EVER called back. read more
