this store is a fantastic resource for women who wear esoteric sizes and for unique vintage lingerie pieces. i wear a 32 e, so i was pretty floored that the shop-owner was able to find a wide array of beautiful garments for me. even more importantly, she seemed really excited to help and was happy to answer all my questions, search through her stock, and order anything she didn't have at hand. i picked out a vintage girdle garter belt that was a bit too wide in the waist, and she altered it for me in just five minutes before i left the shop. i can't recommend this place highly enough. read more

Brought my mother-in-law in to get fitted for some new bras. She didn't like the fit and feel of her old ones. The service was outstanding. It was quick, yet very personal. The prices were what I would expect to find in a department store without a sale going on. The store may look a bit outdated, but do not let that deter you! Great boutique! They really take the work out of finding a bra!! Department stores may offer more "options", but they usually push novelty and expensive bras. Having to wade through all the useless, uncomfortable "fashion" bras just to find a decent t-shirt bra is my worst nightmare. That is why Central Foundations is so great!!! The fitter who helped me was very relaxed and professional. She made helpful suggestions, but listened to what I needed and was feeling while I was trying on bras. I ended up with two great fitting bras I could wear all day (8-12 hour shifts), without digging, poking, or riding up. Plus, they kindly ordered a bra I liked in a color I preferred. I did not ask to try on any specialty bras, like a racerback or strapless though. FWIW, I am now (correctly sized) a 40DD, and they certainly had many options for me. tl;dr: I highly recommend this gem, especially if a larger bust size, because they provide a comfortable environment and take the hassle out of finding a good-fitting bra. read more

Great care and patient fitting. I remember a time when all of my mother's bras and mine were purchased at a corset shop. Time went on and most corset shops disappeared. I did my internet search. We traveled far. My 84 year old mother needed a bra ( 40B) that defied time that would make her look good in her clothes. Patiently, we were shown many bras and told which were better choices and how it could be altered to fit. We were given plenty of time to retry on the bras and make the final decision. Success! A soft cup and a tee shirt bra that support and shape without back flab. Beautiful silky nude material with lace. These are not old lady bras. read more

Wow I really expected more out of this place. After leaving this place, I was depressed. Not only did the shop appear dingy and dirty but I was very disappointed in the customer service. Don't get me wrong the woman was nice but what I found annoying was that she was on the phone constantly and left me there half naked. I was very annoyed by this. The storefront setting is old-school, but Central Foundations also offers old-school quality - an attentive fitting service, no-charge on-the-spot alterations, and good selection. I will be coming back, helped by the fact that they save customer records. I was assisted by Janisa, who was terrific. After measuring, she offered me selections -- about a dozen in the end -- to see what fit best and was most comfortable and attractive. The owner, Sue, was also friendly and helpful, reviewing the final choices so she could sew minor alterations. Frankly, I never thought of alterations as a possibility, but they suggested it -- in my case, a couple of under-arm darts. I've accompanied my daughters when they were measured at Victoria's Secret stores: I found the service offered here to be far superior and certainly preferable for women over age 35. I also saw two moms having teen daughters fitted, so I may bring a daughter next time. read more

this is a wonderful place to get under garments! It is quaint no frills... however the Owner and staff make up for that! After a lumpectomy I needed help finding a bra.The day I came in the shop was very busy.....but I was always taken care of as were the other costumers While she didn't have all that I need at the time the items were ordered for me and I was called promptly the items were in! I was about 17 when I saw an around town chicago type of show on Central Foundations. Unfortunately it was 5 years later that I finally made my way to the store. I walked in wearing a white bra that dug into my shoulders, and made my breasts look like I was shooting a Madonna video!! I left (wearing my purchase) feeling like a weight had literally been lifted off my shoulders. Gone are the days of black/white or off white bras that cut into my shoulders, leaving scratches and bruises as though I'd been in a cat fight. I have the support I need, no "3rd Boob". I have color in my undergarment drawer!! I love this store!! Not only have I taken my mom and my 3 aunts but I recruit friends and even strangers, I know it sounds crazy but the right bra can change your life!! lol!! read more

Yes this place is old and in need of a facelift but knowing it makes it easier to enter. Sue did a great job at the bra fitting. There were several to try but they were all very basic brands availabe at any department store. Neither bra I liked was in stock in any color but black. Sue told me she'd order them and one would be in within two days and one in about two weeks. When I didn't hear anything, I assumed each was taking longer. Two weeks to the day later Sue called and said both were in. While the first had come in quickly, she didn't call to give me the opportunity to pick it up. Instead she decided for me to wait for both to be in stock. Sue then asked if I wanted to pick the bras up or have her mail them. It is 14 miles round trip to get there and I was commited to babysitting at my daughter's starting that afternoon and for the next 2 days. Sue assured me I'd have the bras the next day. After waiting 5 days I called and left a mesage. When my call wasn't returned, I called Sue and she said she'd have to check with the post office. Then she called back to ask if I had talked to her the day the bras arrived! I reminded her she had promised to mail them that day. She said they were sitting there on her counter! I was livid and said I was on my way. When I arrived she asked how I was and I responded, "angry." At no time did she say she was sorry, or she had made a mistake or what could she do to make amends. I am a small business owner and this is no way to win or retain clients. Shame on Sue. I would go braless before I'd ever set foot in this place again. read more
