I don't live in the area but nevertheless I go out of my way to shop and tell everyone I.know to.go. 2 weeks ago I bought a honeydew, half an orange flesh melon and a watermelon.. I specifically said I wanted it ripe for that evening. The orange flesh and watermelon were good. The honeydew went straight in the garbage. It was not close to ripe. But 2 days later the orange flesh and watermelon.also went in the trash because they had turned rancid. Today U went back. I had every intention of making a purchase, but wanted to inform the store of the subpar produce ( that cost an arm and a leg btw) from my last visit.The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The person whom I can only assume is the owner. Is quite nasty. He claimed this has never happened to him in 43 years and that I didn't store the fruit properly and I should've called. He was quite rude and has a lot to learn about customer service. The staff however were very apologetic and could not have been nicer. He is lucky to have them, and I hope he treats them.better than he treated me this morning.

This is especially a welcome addition given that the nearby giant Key Food often has terrible fruit/vegetable selection, is often sold out, or the products are rotten or unripe. I also love how RF sells other little goodies besides whole fruits and vegetables that feel like a special treat, like Halavah and Babybell Cheese, various Asian pantry goods, pomegranate arils in tiny packages and gorgeous bouquets of fresh flowers. I love stopping here on my way to visit someone and picking up something special for them. RF is definitely not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I've never left here unsatisfied with my produce. And the folks who own the place and run the register are so sweet.

I've been eating here since about 2017 when it was a great deal smaller with no seating inside but limited outside dining. Since it's expansion they offer so much more. A few things offered are ample seating inside and more space to move about. They have broadened the food selections. They are known for their hot food. If you want a good hot meal, this is your spot. But come early because things sell out quickly, they offer fantastic salads and a wide variety of salad dressings. On my visit I was really disappointed, that the salad and pasta cooler was half empty to the point of being depleted. They normally have meatless burgers and a bigger variety of pasta and beans. I chose the Farro Protein salad. It was really nothing to yelp about. So I'm yelping about the other stuff, not the Farro salad. Got it? Okay! They have pizza on the other side and a delicious bakery section in the expanded section. A must visit market for your fruits and veggies. The farmers' that come here are small family-owned farms from NY & NJ! Everything they carry is fresh, local, and organic with no pesticides or spray. And as if all of the above PLUS having a farmers' market up here in the Bronx isn't amazing enough their prices are ridiculous!!! They are often the same if not cheaper than the regular stuff we find in our supermarkets. Really, I find this to be pretty incredible because organic food is usually so much more expensive, but not here. I went there today and picked up apples, plums, peaches, kale, red basil (smells AMAZING), eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, tomato, beets and organic corn (I stressed organic because what we find in stores is mostly genetically modified corn) - my total was under $25. The market often has cooking demos and you can always find literature on food education, recipes, seasonality, recycling, etc. and the beautiful ladies that organize this truly do an amazing job and are very passionate about everything the market stands for. I went to the farmers market this week up in Kingsbridge since I missed the Saturday one in Inwood. When I arrived to the market I was...surprised. There's only one stand! When I think of a farmers market I imagine 10+ vendors selling a variety of locally sourced goods. The stand that was there only has fruits and veggies. I didn't think to ask at the time if there are more vendors during the spring/summer season. The individuals that were running this particular stand were warm and welcoming! At the market I picked up zucchini, squash, and a mini-bucket of brussel sprouts. My favorite part of this market was its affordability - those three items for $5.75?! Sign. Me. UP! The veggies were fresh and great in my dinner Sunday evening. At the end of the day I did have to run to Aldi to pick up items I was hoping to purchase at this market. But it won't stop me from coming back since the prices can't be beat, and I hope they can feature more vendors in the future!

You can snag a parking spot right by Starbucks or adjacent to the Metro North station- if it's crowded. The many times we've stayed up in Woodstock, always make it a point to have a bite at the Bread Alone café- just because we know their breads/baked items are good. So when we noticed Bread Alone's table at this market, I was all over it. If Bread Alone isn't participating that particular Saturday, there are other Bread goods that you can get your hands on. With the exception of their Produce, there's also a Pickle & Olive table and Pastries too. This market is a decent fixture in these parts with basic essentials...... but it's really small. Seems like you can get away with a bigger selection over at the White Plains Farmer's Market. My only focus? The Bread Alone table (or any other baked goods).
