Parts department employees not familiar with parts. I needed a tie rod. Was told they only sold them in pairs. Cost was more than double online retailers. I checked it up to the fact that it was 2 tie rods. Part arrived today. Only one tie rod. And not even the one that fit my tractor. Called them and informed them. They said they would reorder. Took my Shindaiwa weed eater in for repairs and was told that they don't service that brand, to which I said, "But I bought if from you and it's been serviced here before," to which she said, "Well, we don't service that brand any longer. I ordered a part in person and I was expecting the part in next day. Of course it did not arrive and blame was put on the delivery company. No one called to tell me part was or was not there. Bought a new tire for my RTV, parts sales were fine. The price went up over $20 in 11 months but that may not be their fault. Took it to the service dept to have it put on the rim. Lady at the counter says "Jesus'" and looks totally pissed off. Comes around the counter and tells me they can't do that there. I tell her that I spoke to someone in service yesterday afternoon and they assured me they could do it. She starts to tell me why they can't do it, apparently they don't have the right "umph". Why is one person in the service department telling me they can do it and another person telling me they cannot, and in a very rude way? I think it will be worth the drive to go somewhere else next time. read more

I have been buying products here since I started my business. I have spent thousands. Every time I go in it's like they are annoyed that there are customers there. I dropped off a mower that needed a lot of work. It was a month before I got my first call about it. They had to order a part, then another month. Order another part. I understand Covid has things backed up. I would stop in every few weeks to buy pats and supplies for my other equipment and check on it. Every time they would tell me that they hadn't had time to get to it. After 6 or 7 MONTHS. I finally got an answer that they couldn't fix it. I'm not really worried about the mower not being able to be fixed. I had already replaced it. They said they had to take the parts they got for it off and they would call me to pick it up. 6 more months go by with no communication. I finally called them to tell them I would be coming to pick it up. When I showed up they acted surprised and scrambled to take the parts off so I could pick it up. One part wouldn't come off because it rusted on to it because it sat untouched for so long. I finally get my mower back and they took the carburetor from it. Now like I said, I'm not too concerned about this mower not being fixed. I am upset that they took a year to not fix it and then steal a part from it and never talk to me about it. I will have to continue to do business with them because I am a lawn care professional and I bought an exmark from them and they are the only exmark dealer around. Also my clients come before my distaste for this business. However when I go to purchase my next very expensive mower, it will be from a different company like Lexington outdoor power equipment. Or when I decide to buy my next stihl product, of which I have many, it will be from somewhere else like rural king. It's a shame this business decided to behave like this. I've never even been told sorry. No one has ever even acknowledged that they handled my situation wrong. They just pretend like it didn't happen. Probably the most pleasant and hassle free shopping experience I have had for a big ticket item. My old lawn tractor expired and wife thought it would be a good time to upgrade to a zero-turn machine. The store is well stocked with numerous models and comes complete with its own service department. This is a local family owned business. The owner, Mr. Huber, personally took time out to discuss and explain the differences between various models. He didn't pass me off another salesman. When I finally decided on a specific model, he even allowed me to take it right out of the showroom and take it for a spin on the parking lot. Try that in a big box store. The new machine was then personally delivered, with a full tank of gas, to my home by Mr. Huber. He then demonstrated its operations to my wife and hauled away my junker. Bottom line - Wife is currently out mowing the lawn for the first time in over 10 years !!! read more

I'm very disappointed with the services I received from Central Equipment as described below. Took my riding tractor in for an issuer with a loud noise when I engage the blades. No problem. Since it was in, I decided to have it winterized. To my surprise, the work was absolutely terrible. The oil and filter was to be changed. I know the filter was not changed because the outer part of the filter was still dusty. Don't know about the oil. It probably was not changed either because the oil was not clear. The blades were to be sharpened, the blades were still rusty meaning the rust should be gone if they were sharpened. Tire pressure was still low, meaning the air pressure was not checked. I checked the fuel filter and the dust and oil was still on it, meaning it was not changed. I was told I the tractor was to get a power wash it was not done for sure. Still have grass and other trash under the deck. The bottom line, work assigned was not completed. The service mechanic work on this tractor did not pay attention to detail. Sad to say, I paid for work that was never done. I hope a service manager will see this work order on 11/02/19 invoice #LS114171. The zero-turn mower I purchased from Central Equipment was more expensive than any car I've ever bought! Ryan Metzger was my salesman, and he made the whole process easy. Like you'd expect any sales guy to do, he answered my questions and provided some advice. Unlike many salesmen, he never pushed me to make a rush buy, which I appreciated. What really earns Ryan the full five stars, though, is the excellent post-sale service he's offered. Ryan never tried to push me off to the service department. He's answered several follow-up questions... he made sure I got VIP treatment when I had a flat tire on the mower... and he even arranged for transport of the mower into the service center for annual maintenance. Central Equipment does not stand behind the products they sell. If you are a lawn care professional, I hope you never require their service department for a quick turn around of a mechanical issue, for you will be disappointed. I have lost thousands of dollars in business during the past week because Central Equipment has taken more than a week just to look at a leaf vacuum that I brought in to be repaired. It's been eight days, and as I write this I have no idea when my vacuum will be repaired. To make matters worse, the day after I brought in my vacuum because a chain broke, a representative in the service department told me they had ordered a chain and it would arrive in three days. Today (four days after it was supposed to arrive), I was told the part had just been ordered.Apparently, the representative who told me the part was ordered a week ago had lied about it. I have 10 leaf collection jobs on hold, and no idea whatsoever when my vacuum will be repaired. Central Equipment needs to hire more mechanics. Their service department response time is horrible! When I spend thousands (even tens of thousands of dollars) on equipment, I expect better service. If any lawn care professional has a mechanical problem, you should expect repairs to take days, perhaps even weeks. I suggest finding a mechanic who actually strives to provide quality work in a reasonable time at a reasonable price. Central Equipment does not. read more

Crooks and liars! Their service dept. couldn't fix a flat tire! They "repaired" my chainsaw which needed a new drive bearing. They took the old one out, and then put everything back together. Everything except the bearing! They charged about $100, which seems reasonable for parts and labor (if I had actually gotten the parts). I picked it up and then the first time I tried to use it, it became obvious really quickly that something wasn't right. It caused a bunch of other damage. I took it back and they tried to tell me that it had been run with the brake on and that's what caused the damage. They couldn't explain what would cause the bearing to disappear into thin air. They said they could fix it for another $80! Do not take your tools or equipment there! read more

My problem with Central equipment is not the repairs nor the parts, my problem is the complete and total lack of response from four or five different messages left for two people. No phone call back at all, no I am referring you to salesman X to help you further. I recently spent $60,000 in new tractor and equipment and am looking to spend an additional $40-45,000.
