Dairy farm with it's own ice cream shop…read more Fresh made ice cream is for sale, so many flavors available. So many different cone options - 5- , a nice indoor cafe, because they don't just sell ice cream, but other eating options as well, such as sandwiches and what not. Out side, you can watch the cattle in the field or let your young ones play in the wonderful play yard. While I was there I saw several young families taking advantage of those facilities. One thing i noticed, they had a sign out front (And presumably because they're the first public open thing on a relatively long road) That read something to the effect of "We don't charge for the use of our facilities but if you bring in outside food, there will be a $5 charge.

My granny loved rum and raisin, and I developed the taste for it too. That is about 20-25 years ago, and for the past few years I've wanted to go back but had little opportunity. That is, until I convinced Smurf that she wanted to go out there for a birthday treat. I hold my hands up, I manipulated her good, but thats what all the best aunties do. Its not as far outside Dumfries as I remember, I had prepared myself for a long trip and it actually took about 10 mins. We got there and Smurf headed straight towards the outdoor play park and I headed over to the cows at the other side of the fence. I have a thing about cows, I love them. I'd actually have one as a pet if I could. After a while, we went inside and ordered ice cream. All in, it cost about £10 for a mug of coffee, a pot of tea and 2 bowls of ice cream (3 scoops in each and a flake). I scoffed mine, and it was good. Smurf ended up playing with hers for a bit then left it to go and play with the other kids in the play area at the back of the shop. The cafe area wasn't overly busy at 11 am but it looked like a mothers group or bunch of friends had chosen it as a meeting place, kids were happy with ice cream and toys, mums were happy with coffee. Service was good, prices were decent and I really enjoyed my visit. I will definitely not be leaving it over 20 years for my next visit.

Please keep in mind that I was on a work trip in 2019 and over the weekend, I just hopped over to the Isle of Man. So I can say that the ice cream was good and the portions were just right. The view and ambiance were great as I sat by the window and could look out to see Peel Castle. I would definitely return here, if I was ever in the area again. Enjoy!!

Deliciousness in a tub!…read more This family-owned ice cream parlour is a firm favourite amongst the locals on the Island. Made with cows milk, double cream, butter and sugar it might bump me up the list for coronary bypass surgery, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy the creamy tastiness of this ice cream. There are many flavours available, I went for the mango and raspberry on this occasion. Fruity but maybe slightly artificial tasting. As well as the standard ice cream they do sundaes, sandwiches, salads and other light lunches, hot and cold drinks and sweets and gifts to take away. There are a few tables to allow you to eat in, a necessity in November. However, in the summer it's ideally placed on the seafront for you to buy your cone to go take a stroll along the prom, with great views of Peel Castle and the beach. A great Isle of Man institution, a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike.
