This is a great beach a few hours from London by train. We spent the afternoon here and it was great. It is clean, quiet, and everyone was friendly. The pictures don't do it justice. read more

I have been at a few private, family run caravan parks throughout the country - this is definately…read morethe best. With all your usual amenities, showers, toilets, laundrette, amusement arcade, parks, etc. This site also includes a swimming pool with a sauna and toning tables attached. A genuinely relaxing park to go on holiday - most of the static caravans are owned, and the site have a strict - family and friends only in the private caravans. There are some caravans that you can rent. The rental vans are basic, but clean and close to amenities. There are two types of tourer sites - those with electrical hook up and those without. There is also ample room for tents to be pitched. Lovely walks around this area - with a beach very nearby.

It is quite pretty to walk across and there is a little park like gym for children to play in down one end. Also there is a mini golf course opposite the beach for kids to use and the elderly can go play bingo. Additionally, there is a nice little cafe that serves warm beverages and ice cream.

Parts still remain of where we played all day as children amongst the sand dunes and down to the waters edge. The 'Chippy' is still across the road although you take your life in your hands now to cross it and it's now more burgers and fries than fish and chips. It is still a pleasant little oasis once you get away from the road so families can still visit although those halcyon days have long gone. Most of the points are for the memories of being with my dearly missed father at this once special place.
You really need a car to get here as we found out after taking the National Express and being told…read morethe site was just down the road! It is actually a good mile down the road and then approximately half a mile or so from the park gates to reception. Believe me, this is no fun carrying luggage, pushing prams and having young children in tow. All the amenities are located together centrally, which is a drag if you have to go the shop, return to the caravan and then come back out again. You're really at the mercy of Haven's limited facilities if you've no transport to get off the site and visit North Wales and this can become tedious and made us stir-crazy! We paid extra money to book trampoline, roller disco, football coaching and pool inflatable sessions for the children. With the exception of the pool, all of these activities took place in a tatty sport hall with inadequate equipment and bored staff. The chip shop is to be avoided at all costs; the restaurant is nice but expensive and the only other eating out experiences are with two counters inside the arcade: Papa John's which didn't open until late and Burger King. Papa John's had no seating area and BK had just three high tables. When we tried to eat with six young children in one of the two empty show bars, an extremely rude bar manager chased us out again (it was 30 minutes before its opening time). We found the only option but to eat in the caravan which was costly using the site's one Spar and thus, missed children's shows due to time wasted cooking and walking back down. On the positive side, the caravans were cleaned to a high standard; the majority of staff were friendly and the beach and dunes were in easy reach. Returning home, we paid a local cab firm to take us from reception to the bus stop on the main road at a cost of £7 each for two cabs. Our driver told us that National Express were notorious for failing to stop here. Guess what... he was right! A woman from a nearby house also came out to tell us the same. We ended up paying the cab firm to drive us home. Apparently, National Express once used to drive up to the park but obviously this relationship ended because Haven are more concerned for their car owning holidaymakers and don't need to concern themselves for the minority!

I stayed here as a kid about 45 years ago.. and returning, it hasn't changed a bit! :) Well, the feel of it, etc doesn't seemed to have. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Yes, it's rough and ready, the chalets are basic (but function just fine), and the onsite amenities are also 'function vs style' - but that's the ENTIRE point of a holiday camp - Money isn't wasted on frivolities, but the basics are covered and you can have an awesome time for very little money. I absolutely plan on returning and would recommend it to anyone.

The main problems are the smell in the main hall, think primary school crossed with boy's bedrooms and the overall cleanliness. Alright for a cheap break, but I wouldn't have liked to have paid the full brochure price.
