Central Barber Shop is located at 88 Center Street next to the bank, across from the walls of the cemetery and less than 2 blocks from Colony Road. You have there free parking in front and in the back of the salon which is so convenient when it is snowing or raining. I'm giving you all this data because there are 3 barber shops in this 2-block area and I want you to get to the Best Barber Shop in Wallingford whether you are awake or walking in your sleep. You will have committed a grave error if you enter the wrong salon. There, as in Z's butcher shop in Hartford, where he is afraid to get his own hair cut by his fellow employees, you will not get your hair cut, rather you shall be fleeced like a helpless ewe and regret it for a whole month until your hair grows back and you finally go to Central Barbershop for damage control. Do you know what you really get at Central? You get an European stylish haircut tailored to your preferences. My barber there, who is the owner, immigrated from central Europe. He will start cutting your hair until you tell him, in simple terms, how you wanted cut. I used the same answer I used when I was stationed in Thailand and in Japan: "After I leave your barbershop, i want people to think that my haircut was done two weeks ago!" My barber in Wallingford, CT., responded, "Gotcha!..." Now, do you want to accept my 5-star recommendation along with all the other 5-stars from so many satisfied customers who feel as I do and GO to Central Barbershop, or take Mr. Z.'s envious, trumpian opinion of one barber who doesn't trust his co-workers to give him an acceptable cut, and based on that, you go somewhere else to be fleeced? Remember what Forester Gump used to say, "STUPID as STUPID does! Silverio (SAM) B. {Yelp said that "this review is looking pretty epic! Nice! } read more

It took me a long time to find a true barber in the area. Love this place. Great owner who does a fantastic job every time I go ( every 2 weeks). He also does a very good job on the beard, which is very hard to find. The barber shop has the classic real barber shop look. There's a lot of hair stylists and barbers in the area but I'd recommend anyone to go there for their haircuts. read more

Good barber, great no frills service. Shop is clean and well kept. Can make an appointment or just drop in.

This is quite simply THE barber shop in town. Accept no substitutes. Check the newspaper clippings on the walls if you need further proof. Younger patrons tend to skew toward Glen, but any of the guys will give you a great cut. Support a local business and enjoy yourself in the process! read more

This is a REAL barber shop. There is a striped pole out front, which, in itself may not prove it, but how many "hair salons" do you see with one? Fact of the matter is this is the place to go if you're a man and don't wish to be surrounded by estrogen-fueled soap operas. All the old men gather here and talk sports, politics and other news. If the Man Show had ever done a segment on a real man's barber shop, this would probably be the winning entry. This is not to say that women are not welcome, they most certainly are, but many of us grew up going to the barber, while the salon was for our mothers and sisters. The staff are all graduates of barber college, although at least one of them is double-certified in hairdressing as well, and yes, there is a difference. I recommend Central Barber Shop wholeheartedly and will be continuing to utilize their services for my son and for myself. read more

This is where you go to get your haircut in Wallingford. It's everything you want from an old-school barbershop. The place has been around forever for a reason. The staff have fun and joke around with each other, and give exceptional haircuts. There can be a long line sometimes, but that's only because a place of this quality attracts a great number of loyal customers. Well worth the wait. read more

Its an authentic barber shop with great banter and fresh, straight razor line ups!! Cody is the man. Ask for him its well worth the wait. This place its awesome I will be back. FYI - I got a cut, a line up and my beard trimmed and lined up for $22 bucks out the door!!! Best deal in town!! read more

I had moved to Wallingford 18 years ago. I went to central about 1 month after moving there. I have never been anywhere else since ! If you are looking for a place that you are treated like a great friend, want good conversation, and totally professional, then this is the place to go. Not to mention, they cut hair to perfection at a very reasonable price. read more

In town on business and easily one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten, especially off a random walk in. Fade is nice and gradual, unlike the zebra stripe pattern the last place buzzed into me. Couldn't ask for anything better. Definitely a customer while I'm staying here. read more

Cody cuts my hair. I look fantastic.

I was looking for a barbershop to get a medium fade. The reviews of this shop were impressive so I gave it a shot. I am a barber at west Hartford professional that gets some what of a modern style haircut. I got Juan at the end. His station was cluttered with a pile of dirty tools and other people's hair. He was a really nice guy though and we had a great conversation. Unfortunately the haircut was not great at all and when he dusted my face at the end some other dudes white hair was coming off of the brush and was all over my face.Even though he told me he's been cutting for decades and is the owner of the shop the haircut was something I could have gotten at a barber school. 16 dollars wasn't bad I usually pay 25. The feel and environment was great. It felt like a barbershop but as soon as You walk out the door you have to go to work with what you got. Great guy with a great personality but because of his nasty station and poor haircut I will not be returning. read more
