This place is a decent. The fries were not cooked enough and were cold but the burger was delicious. They would have gotten another star if they would give tap water with the meal. (All of Vienna goes on and on about how great the tap water is so it makes no sense to nickel and dime by requiring bottled water) - hopefully the recycle the water bottles. Visited Vienna in October 2023 & got to try this restaurant out. Open space, welcoming atmosphere and wonderful service. Had some delicious local favorites. Fried Pork chop was delicious and flavorful. Garlic soup was the best I've ever tried. And the local beer is a must to have. Delicious and price is respectable. The portions came out all shareable. On plus side they were able to seat a table of 5 on Christmas Eve. On minus side - food was blah, goulash came out cold, as did the French fries, my teenage son said burger was meh. At least the earlier was also cold. If I had to choose again, I would walk a few kilometers more to find another place. read more

This has to be the worst restaurant in Neubau. The food is completely mediocre and the service is slow. My cordon bleu was completely dry -- how is that even a cordon bleu? It should ooze cheese and juice, but this was a hockey puck!! And the Stiegl beer was just eh... beer. I think this place could be a lot cooler if you could actually drink beer by the centimeter. But instead there's just a ruler on the side of your glass for no discernible reason. The saving grace was that our kids were super jetlagged, and this was a reasonable place for them to be a bit annoying, since it was so loud and casual inside that no one really noticed. read more

Well, I was warned before I went that this place was just average but I went anyway for the novelty of the "centimeter" theme. Turns out only a small part of the menu is dictated by this centimeter rule so we ordered toasted bread with different toppings just so we could have something that was measured in centimeters! I had quite a traditional Austrian dish - lentils with bacon and dumplings (Linsen mit Speck und Knoedel). It tasted awesome but the dumplings were not good at all, just very bland. My friend had the burger which was massive! It came with loads of wedges which were really tasty. The platters of finger food looked really tasty. The prices are good for what you get. Service wasn't so good. There are separate smoking and non-smoking rooms. There is a very casual atmosphere and the decor matches. There were quite a few big groups too. read more

For an American, this was a great place. I have been eating cold cuts for a week. Got to chow down on a Diablo burger. Was delish. Since smoking is allowed in Vienna, the sealed off non smoking section made my dining experience delightful. Totally recommend if you want a good burger. read more

I guess I did not get the memo on the food portions being gigantic here - but now you know. I ordered the beef ribs for dinner. It came out looking like the side of ribs from The Flintstones - served on a slab of wood. I could not believe my eyes. It was enough to feed 4 people. I am one average-sized woman. And the prize was not anything crazy, so I did not expect it. It was actually pretty though. The meat was seasoned nicely and I did enjoy it. But boy was it a lot of food. The service is a little less to be desired. Very polite, but not very attentive. read more

I would recommend this Austrian restaurant to anyone with good appetite and loving meat! I pass by a centimeter every day on my way back from work, and I finally got to eat there. Of course they have some good salads and soups, but what really amazed me was the one meter long sausage (Schwert), the size of the rips, but above all: their burgers! You can choose between 6 of them with 200g of meat (lamb, rind, buffalo, sheep...), but the most impressive is the Centimeter Burger: two steaks (360g) of rind meat in a home made burger, served with lots of potatoes (half of French fries and half of baked potatoes) and four different sauces! Plus the prices are very reasonable (9,90€ a burger, 11,90€ for the Centimeter one), the staff really friendly and seating outside on the terrace made us spend a very nice moment! I have not been to centimeter in the past about 10 years ago was the last time i think, therefore i had forgotten why i like it there. Ordering your food by the centimeter is cool when your a hungry lad who is able to eat a lot. Good serves and a good atmosphere there. Thumb up from me. read more

Never again! Rude staff. When taking the order the waiter refused to provide 1 glass of tap water free of charge, even though our group was ordering a number of drinks and food together. The waiter said (in German) "I do not sell tap water" in a rather aggressive manner and forced my friend to order a bottle of mineral water. However, my friend did manage to change the order and persuade the bar staff to give a free glass of tap water after having a discussion. When the drinks arrived the order was not as expected: The "hausbier" which should have been Stiegel, tasted like the lower quality "Ottakringer". The wine spritzer was a mix of white wine & tap water. A large soda was brought to us, even though a large one was not ordered. The food was reasonable: greasy chicken wings & potato wedges. Due to the fact that there were 7 of us sat around the table, 2 people positioned chairs at one end. Although, this was not how the chairs were laid out, we ensured that there was plenty of space for people to get by. There was no less space than on the other side where our chairs backed on to the chairs of a neighbouring table. However a female member of staff took objection to our repositioning of the chairs. Rather than make a polite request, she proceeded to exclaim "We have to get past!" then deliberately hit us with her money bag on the next 2 occasions when she came past us. We didn't move and she stopped this tactic and she said no more! The staff then completely ignored our table for the rest of the evening. They failed to take away the finished plates, empty glasses, or to see if we wanted to order anything else. Only when we started to put our coats on did a staff member appear to throw the bill down on to our table, then disappeared as quick as they had arrived. We just put our money on the table and left. I have been to Centimeter VII, on Währinger Gürtel in the past and have had a friendly service from the staff there. But I will never again visit this Centimeter II, on Stiftgasse. The staff at Centimeter II should feel ashamed of their awful service and need to be retrained or replaced. read more

Tourist trap. Food was really pretty terrible. As an American, I can tell you that it was one of the worst bacon cheeseburgers I've ever had. I didn't even finish half of it. Bacon wasn't cooked, cheese was watery, burger was a frozen pre-made party, over cooked. My friend ordered the chili, which was barely warm, and was a bit odd tasting. Good place. It has a laid-back, broken-in feel to it. Alright beer range and decent prices. Has smoking and non-smoking sections, which is nice. We didn't eat here but the food looked hearty and came in HUGE portions. The place really embraces the 'centimeter' theme, with rulers and whatnot all over the place. "Pub gastronomique" ??? NO WAY !! I waited for an hour before being served. The service was very bad, after seeing me and my friends finish eating, the waitress directly gave us the receipt without asking if we still enjoyed the food or if we wanted anything else. It was hot and there was no A/C. For all what happened they could have at least offer the drinks but no we had to pay for it. To summerize: the service was bad and the food was way too exepensive because the type of food they served could be done at home, nothing special about it (and you can even cook better than what they served) Very bad place I would not recommend at all. Friendly staff and quick service at the bar where there was lots of choice to drink. Deciding to eat I was offered the non smoking area which was welcome and had my order taken and drink in hand soon after sitting at the table. If you like meat, comfort food and have a good appetite you will like this Austrian restaurant. My soup could have fed 2 and my main was simply huge. Clientele ranged from teens to business colleagues to older couples and the place has a quiet but efficient feel, with music just audible in the background and no TVs. There are several other really good restaurants nearby but this one holds its own - worth a try. read more

I'm a student from Russia and I really like this place for it's democratic and friendly atmosphere, big and delicious traditional food, fast and nice service and smart prices. The only thing I dislike - a bit dirty (though austrians like everything shabby so you might consider it as a traditional villager style), the toilets are cold and small, the music is not cool. read more
