We found ourselves in downtown Norfolk and opted for dinner at Gershwin's on Granby Street…read more Gershwin's continues to deliver a polished dining experience, pairing New Orleans-inspired cuisine with attentive, professional service. It's the kind of establishment that understands both execution and consistency--two qualities that are increasingly rare and always appreciated. The shrimp and grits remains a signature highlight. The Creole sauce offers a restrained heat, balanced by a layered depth of flavor that speaks to careful preparation rather than excess. The shrimp are properly cooked, retaining a delicate snap, while the stone-ground grits provide a well-seasoned, creamy foundation. Each component is thoughtfully prepared, and together they form a cohesive dish that feels both composed and satisfying--an authentic nod to Cajun tradition without unnecessary embellishment. Gershwin's stands as a reliable fixture in the downtown dining scene. For those seeking a refined take on Southern and New Orleans classics, it is well worth the visit--and a strong example of the quality found within Norfolk's local restaurant community.

If this restaurant was in an area that was even moderately competitive they would have been put out of business. The bar seems adequate but it was almost like they stopped serving food and forgot to tell anyone. I swear I'm not making this up, this actually happened: 1) it took over 2.5 hours for the entrees to come out. One came out so early that by the time the second set came out they were already done. 2) The only appetizer that was ordered that actually came out, arrived after the entree was done. 3) One person's order had to be changed 5x because the waiter kept coming back to say they're out. When his pork chop finally arrived, it was undercooked and not eatable. 4) Nothing was offered in any way as a comp, nor any real apology If you go, be wary. There is no way they were this thoroughly incompetent in every single aspect of the food services industry without practice.

I go to HK too many times. The place is everything you can ask for in a bar. Cheap drinks, great food, happy hour damn near all day and the staff are always nice. They are always playing good music, going thru their slideshow on the tv with everyone up there (except me for some reason), or they got the game on and everyone is feening for a spot at the bar. When I work in downtown they are always a viable option for food and when I'm out on the weekends they are the place to go for a nice drink and maybe a pre snack before the main event of the night or the food that's gonna get me through until I get home from a great night. Also! They have daily deals! Monday they have Pizza and Wine half off, Tuesday they have margs for cheap and some tacos and quesadillas on sale, Wednesday is Steak Dinner Date night (2 for $22 bucks you can't beat that anywhere), and Thursday is the day you'll see me for burger night with $2 PBRs. Haven't been to HK yet? Then you're missing out. If you have been and didn't like it? You gotta try again something must've been wrong with you that day. If you're like me and go all the time? Then come say hi next time and shoot if you're cool I'll even say hi back! haha!

We rented our son's musical instrument in New York and then moved to Virginia. We went to this store in VA to return the instrument in August since my son decided on a different elective. I was told from Maggie based in their system we only had 1 more month to pay on it and it was ours. So I took it back home. We still were getting charged monthly. When I called 1800 customer service number, I was informed by representative Carlos based on their system New York and New Jersey are the only states that rent monthly NOT rent to own so I was continuing to be charged. I asked for reimbursement and was told he couldn't do anything and a supervisor will call me. Supervisor Ana called me back 5 days later and I was told the only thing I could do was return the instrument to not get charged anymore. I escalated it to a higher level supervisor who again didn't call back for a week, while I returned the instrument that day in store. Maggie and Chris were in the store and they apologized and stated they couldn't do anything and to continue with the 1800 number. When I called to determine the status of my case, I was told I didn't have authorization as it was under my husband's name and he had to call. I gave the representative, Carlos my case number and supervisor Ana's name and magically I could speak about the incident. Hence the reason for this review! Congratulations Music and Arts you received a $200 donation from us, but we will recommend ALL of our friends and any MILITARY people to NOT use your company. It is a shame there is no military clause! I still do not understand how the store's system is DIFFERENT than the customer service system? Remember people, document everything (date, time, personnel you spoke to) because it matters.
