She parroted common phrases without understanding responses. During the massage, my attempts to communicate were useless. She just plowed through a rough and frantic massage. - She added a four dollar charge without telling me. When I questioned this she brought out a small sign about credit card processing charges. Why was this sign hidden? It should be displayed and brought up before the massage. -Lots of drama about wanting a bigger tip. Why was she so upset? Do these people not know that a bad massage means a low tip or no tip at all? - There was a car parked in front of the door RIGHT ON THE SIDEWALK. Is this legal? On the recommendation of a friend who uses her for allergy relief, I tried acupuncture with Dr. Jen. She was very patient with me, explaining the process and the concepts behind what she was doing. I wasn't familiar with everything she was talking about, but it relaxed me to the point where I barely noticed the needles. I just sorta laid there and meditated in a comfortable space for a bit with the needles in, and my pain went away. First some during the treatment but it seemed to continue to work noticeably for some time afterwards. I would say my pain overall went away, never returning to the level before the treatment. I suppose anything that has been around for as long as acupuncture has to have some effectiveness..? I certainly think that it is worth trying, it was practically painless and for me, very effective. Dr. Jen was very kind and made me feel comfortable (and I hate needles!) and handled everything in a hygienic way so I felt like I was in good hands.

As a new patient, I received a full consultation during which time Alexis and I discussed the reasons for the visit. Afterwards, she made sure to provide my every comfort (heated massage table, choice of soothing music, additional blankets) and explained to me the type of acupuncture/massage methods she would use. Alexis checked in with me at regular intervals and she also provided great conversation not related to the treatment. I felt relaxed, welcomed, energized, respected. About four days later, Alexis sent me a follow-up email! She wanted to see how things have "settled and re-integrated" after treatment. That extra level of customer service is one of the reasons I would return to Alexis on a singular or regular basis. If you're looking for a deep tissue or knot relief, this did not deliver. The massage itself was a bummer because it just really didn't relieve my tension - but I'll take half the blame there because I did not speak up during the massage. That was my bad. The reason for the low rating fell is really due to 3 factors. 1. She left the room numerous times for elongated periods of time. At around $1.50 per minute, it felt borderline rude? 2. There was a gentleman who came in asking to see the rooms for a couples massage the next day. The masseuse left the room to help him, and he walked around... while my door was opened, while I was exposed on the massage table. 3. At the end of the experience, there's a borderline predatory-feeling back room where she sat next to me while I tipped, grabbed the QR code for the Google reviews, and proceeded to touch my phone and input 5 stars. She asked 3 or 4 times to just "Submit it now. Write something nice now." as I tried to get up to leave towards the door. Given the number of positive reviews, this may simply come down to personal preference and expectations. I look for strong pressure focused on problem areas and a professional, low-pressure environment. The comfort is similar to that of a visit to the therapist, plus bodywork. Christine is a kind individual, gentle in spirit, who is always checking in with if anything feels uncomfortable, when to push through discomfort and when it's best to remove a needle. She has been well trained and knows where nerves connect to and from and is intuitive when it comes to energy blockage release. I only get to treat myself a couple times a year, however it's always like riding a bike...you get on an everything is wonderful and familiar. Christine makes a welcoming environment that reminds me of a spa. She has lots of experience, not to mention, she does different things pre and post acupuncture, including things like massage and cupping [using slightly heated small glass bulbs that vacuum seal (light-medium suction) to your skin].
