As a staff member, I feel it's important to share an honest perspective on the current state of…read moreDavinci Academy. Unfortunately, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative due to poor leadership, lack of professionalism, and an unsafe school environment. Leadership & Administration: Principal Emily Eggers is extremely unprofessional and frequently yells at staff. She has publicly called staff "backstabbers" for communicating concerns to district-level administrators and often labels teachers as unprofessional without ever observing their classrooms. It's also concerning that she has minimal in-person classroom experience, having only taught in an online setting before becoming principal. The new Dean of Students contributes to the toxic atmosphere. He seems to enjoy the authority that comes with his position but speaks negatively about teachers behind their backs, which damages morale and trust among staff. The administrative team as a whole is often absent from the building -- they're typically on site only about 50% of the time -- leaving little accountability or visible leadership. Teaching & Instruction: Instructional leadership is outdated and resistant to change. The ELA lead teacher refuses to adapt teaching methods or differentiate instruction for students with varying needs. The math department has turned over completely for the second year in a row. Last year's teachers were all fired, and the new hires this year are struggling just as much. It's extremely concerning that the school can't seem to retain qualified math teachers year after year. Several teachers are not fully licensed in their assigned subject areas. The RTI teacher, PE teacher, and tech teacher lack proper certifications, and only one of the special education teachers is fully licensed. This creates a serious problem in ensuring quality instruction and legal compliance. School Environment & Student Behavior: Student behavior is a major issue. There is frequent fighting, constant swearing, and open use of racial slurs like the N-word. These incidents are rarely handled appropriately or effectively. The administration tends to ignore or downplay discipline problems, which makes the environment unsafe for both staff and students. Overall Culture: The culture of the school is toxic, unprofessional, and unstable. Staff turnover is high, morale is extremely low, and there is very little support for teachers. Leadership fails to model professionalism or create a safe and supportive atmosphere for learning. At this point, I would not recommend Davinci Academy especially the middle school to potential staff, students, or families. Until there is a complete overhaul of leadership and a serious focus on student behavior and staff support, this school will continue to struggle.

No apology, no saying it wont happen again.. nothing. When things happened at school I was not notified I was only told by my son. I had to reach out in order to hear the schools side. For teachers to be saying "Idiot, stupid, white boy, dirty, learn to clean your clothes, I cant wait until you graduate, I hate you, you are a worthless human being ect and have no consequences is just crazy to me. No sports here either. There are a few great teachers but I would rather by son feel safe in class rather then just waiting for more name calling and bullying by the staff.

HELLO IT IS I SIR LOCUST THE THRID AND IM HERE TO PLACE AN UPDATE ON COLUMBIA ACADEMY MIDDLE SCHOOL…read more Hearken, good folk of the realm, for I, Sir Locust The III, hath returned from mine accursed pilgrimage unto the dread halls of Columbia Academy--and lo, the torment endureth still. The stone walls yet echo with the groans of weary scholars, burdened by scrolls most tedious and lessons that sap the very will to live (in an academic sense, of course). The keepers of this institution, though clad in garments of authority, appear no wiser than before, for chaos yet reigneth in the corridors like an untamed beast. The feast halls (they call them "cafeterias") continue to serve rations of such questionable origin that even the kingdom's rats would pause in suspicion. And the bells--oh, the infernal bells!--they toll with such fury that one might think the end times approach thrice daily. I had once hoped for reform, a glimmer of enlightenment within these cursed grounds. Alas, 'tis but a fool's dream. The academy persists as a fortress of confusion and despair, unyielding to change, unmoved by the cries of its students. Thus I proclaim: enter these gates only if thou art prepared for trials most vexing, and arm thyself with patience, for thou shalt surely need it. -- Sir Locust The III, ever-suffering reviewer of the realm

This school is very disgusting. First we're starting off with how when the current 8th graders came…read moreto this school in 6th grade in gym class we were all forced to change in front of each other because 'we all have the same parts on our body so its nothing we haven't seen before' when there's plenty of girls who don't want other people to see them like that. If you tried to change in the singular stall they have in there, they would send you out to the SSC or the office because they said we're using the stall in the wrong way. They also wouldn't let us use either of the 3 main bathrooms. Our only choice was the locker rooms if we wanted to change. Second, once the students of 2029 leave, Ms. Sherk will be the principal and will actually destroy this school. She starts more problems than she'll EVER solve. She'll only come after the kids who don't get in trouble or rarely ever get in trouble for some of the most stupidest things ever. She wont ever talk to any of the kids that are known for being in trouble, or suspended and will start to make stuff up on the spot if you ask her when it became a rule or something. She also makes the biggest deal about us wearing literally anything. You could walk into school wear biker shorts without anyone saying anything about it, but then over half way into school somebody will dress code you for wearing them because they are 'inappropriate' when her only reason for saying anything about it is because "wearing leggings or biker shorts is unacceptable because your just trying to show off your body.". One of my teachers walked into class with a mini dress on. She put her hands to her sides and it wasn't even close to the length we had to follow. Plus, other teachers are perfectly fine wearing anything we can't(leggings, short dresses, short skirts, short shorts, ect.). 3rd, they took all of the water fountains out of the locker room because "If you need water you should've thought about it before acting a fool here"(said by Ms sherk). Over all, I would highly not recommend coming to this school at all. It reeks heavily of must and smoke, there's rats and mice that come from the teachers desks and we cant stand up in lunch unless we're throwing our food away or getting a napkin, but even then you'll still get yelled at for being up. Duces.
