Some don't have bathrooms. Um.... We stayed in #6, complete with bathroom, nice shower, comfy bed, kitchenette with double sink, microwave, mini fridge, room darkening shades, little porch that fits two sports chairs. The only odd thing is the heavy-duty wood ladder in the middle of the room. I call it a "nose breaker." Come in from bright outside and bonk. It goes to a very small loft - maybe for luggage, or worse, kids or someone to sleep? I wouldn't let kids sleep up there for fear of them falling down/out in the night and managing someone who had to go potty. They could take that down and close up the loft and be just fine. The place is big enough to store luggage and supplies. Other than that, beautiful setting nestled up against the Park River with a nice trail along it, flower gardens in the park and the big city pool.

Like most little towns in North Dakota, and across this country, Pisek as a little Central Park…read morethat is the product of a community's dedication to their kids. A town effort to raise funds in 2009 contributed to new playground equipment, restroom facilities, and refurbishing the gazebo and covered picnic facilities. Previous efforts in 1975 made the park possible. There are still some vestiges of the mid 70s additions to the park, like the monkey bars and the carousel... But everything is fun. The park is fenced to keep little ones off the roadways that run through town. Like most of North Dakota, there are mosquitos here, so spray in a little deet, and enjoy the tranquility. Shade trees, grass that doesn't need watering, and the occasional toad hopping around about sums up the experience.

Happy we stopped in the fall to see the trees turning. Also, seeing the CCC structures is always awe inspiring. Worth the stop.

While traveling through Northern North Dakota recently, I stumbled across this park by accident. I…read morewas heading to Devil's Lake when I noticed signage for this gorgeous state park. This park is approximately 15 miles from the Canadian border. If you've never been to North Dakota, I strongly recommend a trip there in the spring or summer months. I visited over Memorial Day weekend and the weather was perfect! You will need to pay a small entrance fee at Icelandic State Park. They do not offer military discounts. What they do offer is a nice map of the park and a park pass sign to hang on your rear view mirror while visiting. As you enter the park from the main gate there is a wonderful visitor's center. Make sure you stop at the visitor's center and walk through the museum. Take your time viewing the exhibits in the museum. There are plenty of displays! There are also plenty of windows on one side of the museum to view that gorgeous church and other buildings on the property. Also, feel free to ask park staff (rangers) any questions about the park or the museum. I spoke with a few of the staff members and they were both friendly. There is no fee for the museum. You may also take pictures of the various museum exhibits. Of course, they have a small gift shop for souvenirs to take home with you. I liked the various stickers on display. It was tempting to load up on souvenirs as I very much enjoyed my visit to this park! My only regret is that I wish I had more time to visit the park. I could've easily spent a majority of my day here. However, so so so glad I stopped here to visit! I love beautiful gems like this on my life's various adventures. If you're hedging about going here, just do it! Besides the great museum here, there are beautiful historic buildings to visit on the property. I loved the Icelandic church, schoolhouse and houses. Again, take your time to explore each building then pause to reflect on what life was like in this area back in the day. There are many success stories of early pioneers here but there are also plenty of hardship stories where the land along with climate broke other pioneers. There is also a nice reservoir to visit during your visit to the park. I recommend parking your vehicle in a nearby lot, get out and visit the fishing pier to view the reservoir. It was nice to see boats on the water. I was blown away by all the bodies of water in North Dakota. This is one of several bodies of water to marvel at. I shared pictures of this park with a friend of mine and they were blown away by the beauty of it. This friend told me that they felt like they were there on the property and that they were able to imagine what life was like back in the day, in this area. There is so much out there in life and Icelandic State Park is just one of many gems to immerse yourself in. Perhaps plan a picnic here when visiting? If I'm ever in North Dakota again, I will definitely plan another trip here. I feel fortunate and honored to have had the opportunity to visit a beautiful park! also, I love the park entrance with the US, Canadian and State Flags flying proudly. Also, don't miss the county park across the street. There are some neat things to see and explore there. I truly hope your visit will be as memorable as mine was. I will forever cherish my visit to this beautiful part of the state and country!

There are a number of buildings that you can look through whenever they are open including a church, train depot, barn, farm house.There are several large buildings full of antique cars, tractors, trucks, machinery, a fire truck etc. There's also a Veteran's memorial out front. You can also visit their victory garden and community orchard. They also have events there like the pioneer machinery show with an antique tractor pull and antique tractor parade.

There are 20 campsites for RV's and tents with various amenities (water, electric, sewer) available. The park also has many picnic tables and a picnic shelter in place and restroom/shower facilities for those who need them. Our site is at the end of the row, near The Point, where the Red Lake and Clearwater rivers converge. There is a boat landing there as well. I must say, out of all the campgrounds we have been to on this trip (37, this is 38), this one is the most beautiful and peaceful!!! Lush green fields, lovely woods on the river banks, and rock cliffs on the other side of the rivers! The RV sites are very well maintained and a have lot of room surrounding each site! Each one has a firepit and new picnic table. Just a marvelous place to come for a while and rest and be at one with nature! And there is a beautiful golf course about two miles from the park!! I'm really not sure why there aren't more people using this park!!
