What a fabulous State Park, in an incredibly convenient location!
Camping was $25/n with water & electric.
We pulled in on a Sunday, nice & quiet after the weekend rush. The sites were spacious, lots of trees to divide the spaces, add privacy, reduce noise & throw some shade! We were self-contained but decided to take a quick look in the shower rooms. I was pleased to see they were clean, spacious & well-maintained.
We were there in time to catch some color change. You'll see mostly green & gold with some lower level reds & oranges, still dotted with a few flowers.
The hiking trails were impressively well-marked, far better than any others we've used in ND. We didn't encounter any difficult areas. The trailheads had maps & information. Trails were groomed, with "workout stations" - I will note that most of the workout stations lacked the provisions to complete the task without getting creative, and filthy.
Someone should train the flies and mosquitos better tho, they're rather bite-y. This just took my top spot for ND state parks. A true gem for a quick getaway & get back to nature! read more
