I have reached out to this company for months for a lien release from account. This company no longer has my account in which I am in need of the lien release. The request was Feb 2, 2021 which I have called since than 3 times and no one can seem to send my documents. It's March 17, 2021 and I have not received any documents for my home. Every representative states it's in our system to send to you. This company sold my loan to another company and will not send the correct or all documents for me to proceed my mortgage. This company took over my mortgage from Citibank and 3 years ago they sent me a different monthly payment. They were charging me property taxes on a trailer park ( 83) trailer. 33,000 dollars. My monthly payment went from $162.00 dollars month to 4,000 a month. Took months for me to fix in that time they said I was late on payments and reported me to the credit people that cause my credit score to go down. I had to do all the proving that I did not own the property tax. Finally fixed it and it was good for 2 years and just this year they are trying it all over again. I finally got my credit score back up from the last time they screwed me over and now they reported me again( grant it I have never missed a payment) they are putting my payment in escrow account because I am not sending the whole 4,000.) no place to go in an office and talk to these people and the people on the phone keep transfer you and you have to tell your story 15 different times. We have been trying to get a payoff in full letter and a lien release for almost 90 days. Cenlar continues to say they will fax it. Nothing. Ask them to mail out. Nothing. Call them back. They say the same thing. More than 24 hours spent in hold time and still no letter. read more

Currently in the process of buying a home and we need one document to finalize the deal. Unfortunately, we need that document from Cenlar. We have multiple people working on the case and have been trying for over 2 weeks. We had a call where we were placed on a FOUR HOUR hold that ended when the call center hung up on us. It started out with the I guess receptionist acting like I was putting her out to have to talk to a representative, they ask if you would like to stay on after the call and complete a survey, but they don't connect you with anyone. Just trying to make a payment and cannot get through. The system won't let me make a payment online or through automated phone agent. I have been calling for a week with hold times of an hour or longer. When I request a call back I don't get one. It's super frustrating to get anywhere with this company. I've sent private messages and never receive responses to those. If they would just allow me to make a payment online I would not be spending 5 hours a day trying to get through. read more

This has to be the worst loan administrator on the planet. Our credit union sold our loan to these people, and they are incompetent at best. Corrupt at worst! They will not acknowledge payments received, even though we have the tracking number. They messed up our processing number on electronic payments, and so because of this one failed transaction that was the fault of bad communication between Cenlar and our bank they will no longer let us make electronic payments for our loan. This is even though I have done this kind of payment processing for my mortgage loan going on a decade without fail. Instead, Cenlar is making us jump through a gazillion dumb hoops to pay. Well today they tell me they did not receive our Western Union payment. This is even though Western Union has the tracking number that the payment is clearly received by Cenlar. I have never had to use Western Union in my life. Just unreal the incompetence and sadly what I feel is the corruption. The Cenlar loan admin makes it difficult to pay them and even purposefully messes up payments just so that they can steal fees and sometimes even homes from people. I dont think there is a star rating low enough. I would seriously pay another percent on a loan to not go through CENLAR. They purposefully make anything as difficult as possible for the customer. One simple example: they claimed I didn't have insurance on my house and they would need to assign insurance if they did not get proof. I had my insurance company send the policy 3 times... no lie... and then I finally sent it myself when they said they did not get it. They went ahead and assigned insurance. I sent it 2 more times and it took months!! Also they still owe me 4k escrow balance from paying off my loan that they told me " you should get any day" over a month ago. The customer service is terrible. I called and was put on hold for 30 minutes. That's fine. I know companies are busy. When someone finally answered and I shared my issue, she simply said "hold on" and I was put back on hold. She didn't say if she was looking into it or transferring me or what. Then finally another guy answered and he said I need to talk to someone in customer service. I explained I had already talked to someone there, but they transferred me to him. He said he would do a live transfer so I wouldn't have to explain myself again, which I appreciated. However, when he transferred me I was put back on hold and then hung up on. Initially I got disappointed dealing with Cenlar as I run into spending needless in my view time, but then after posting a negative review on Yelp a person from Cenlar wrote to me via Yelp and soon there after a polite and helpful gentleman reach out to me by phone I've provided and e-mailed me the needed documents. Now, I am a happy customer. Below is my original review (in case you are curious what the problem was): As surreal as it sounds this odd company plows on full stupid, all strong and forceful. I got a HELOC with CitiBank and Cenlar bought it soon thereafter. I'm doing a refi and need a Mortgage Note for the CENLAR HELOC. I called them twice and spent 25 and 55 minutes on hold (I thought calling 7am Pacific time would make wait time shorter but it was the opposite). 2nd call I was redirected to CENLAR HELOC dept. Both calls I got different contradicting or false information. 1st call I was told I can fax them written request for the Note. I was also told that I should have the Note in the stack of papers I got upon originating the HELOC and signing all HELOC papers. No I didn't have a copy of the Note. Also I was told to provide a copy of my ID like a driver's license. 2nd time I called I was told I must USPS mail or Fedex my written note request, and NO fax is allowed (not that I'm eager to use a dinosaur, I mean fax). Then I tell the guy and what about a copy of my ID? And he goes- yeah it's a good idea... He also assured me that spending $30 on overnighting my note request (from west coast to east) is for my benefit as it provides fantastic security. I just can't figure out why do I need to drop dough and stand in postal line when WellsFargo and TMS just e-mailed me my other mortgage notes??? My beautiful Cenlar geniuses- it's 2021. What fax? What snail mail? Why create problems for customers instead of solving them for a change??? Nobody I came in contact with could answer the basic questions about my loan and escrow balance which Cenlar raised in the middle of the year thus raising my payments. I have major difference in my calculations of the balance based on payments made versus what Cenlar claims. 0 stars. Regardless of your grievance, use the Short List of things to do below to help yourself. Following is what actually happened in my case. Short List of things to do: 1)Call them a lot at different times of day. Hang up if you get someone giving you the runaround or is lying, it will just frustrate you more. Ask to escalate to a supervisor. Do something else while you wait on hold so they don't steal your time. Get their name up front. Document your calls for a paper trail. My wait times were always worse in the morning. 2)At their website online, use "Ask a IP Question". Don't put more than one issue in one question. They will close it and only address one, if that. Take pictures or screen print the status of your loan history and or payments if needed, as needed. More paper trail 3) If they do not resolve it, submit a complaint to the OCC (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency) a federal agency. The first thing they ask is if you have contacted the company and who you spoke to. Then they ask for any documents you have. Submit your paper trail. Read the info on the page to get all your info ready before you submit. https://www.helpwithmybank.gov/complaints/index-file-a-bank-complaint.html 4)Ask your local Congress person's office for help if not satisfied with the OCC response. They have aides that are working. 5)UPDATE, I found them listed as Cenlar FSB in New Jersey at the BBB so I am going to report them there as well. disredard. Previously I posted to not bother BBB because they weren't members. Long list of what happened to me; Do not send Cenlar partial payments and expect them to do math. If you send them a small partial payment by accident, they will return it to you if the amount is small via a check in the mail, which if you are lucky will reach you in 14 days, best case. If the amount is larger, they will keep the money and move it around into different accounts on their system and you will see it, it will go into a 'suspense' account and it will sit there and not move. They won't post your mortgage payment with it, they won't return it to you, they won't even add it as additional principle to your loan. At the end of this saga, they kept $3000 in their system from me beginning March 26th and I did not get a check back from them for it until May 9th, 45 days later. I am not in the habit of making negative reviews on Yelp, and I think this is only the second negative review I have ever posted on Yelp. But it is well-deserved. Over the course of a 30 day period I contacted them via phone 11 times. 2 people picked up the phone and started to ask me questions and then hung up. 1 person picked up, didn't say anything and then just hung up. 3 times I got a fast busy signal. 5 times I got someone on the phone. One of those flat out lied to me.The other four actually tried to honestly help me, but whatever requests they submitted were also ignored by their supervisors. One of those four told me it was my fault for sending a partial payment but she would fix it, she submitted 'work orders' in her system for the corrections, but no one ever corrected them. I don't think their call center reps have authority to do anything. When you do get someone on the phone, tell them you want to escalate the call because you can't get help.They actually have an escalations department. If they refuse, hang up and call again until you get someone that helps you escalate. The other thing that may have helped me get my money back was that I reported the company to the CFPB. They said Cenlar is not their jurisdiction, which is odd, and transferred my request to the OCC. The OCC contacted Cenlar and they actually responded in writing to me with a copy of what they sent to the OCC. So now you will have a paper trail. The OCC said I was not injured by their actions so they gave me 60 days to respond. I do think them keeping 3k for 45 days and all the stress from that was a bit of injury. The letter they sent actually caught them in their own lie, so I'll be forwarding that on as well. The other thing I did was open messages in their online system. You can click 'Ask a Question' and it will create paper trail in their system. Although, all of these usually get closed with a poor excuse from an agent, it creates more evidence for the OCC on your behalf that they aren't resolving your problem. Lastly, I contacted my local Congressman's office with my paper trail and they made a call to the OCC on my behalf. So some combination of all these things worked. They actually told the OCC in writing they mailed me my check on April 7th, but later admitted in two online responses that it wasn't mailed to me until April 29th. The postmark was actually in May, but the date was illegible. Good Luck. read more

This is by far the MOST unprofessional an inept financial institution I have ever worked with. I am simply trying to submit my mothers information to them to get a document that the original loan with them has been satisfied. They make you wait on their horrible customer support line for 40+ min as their ONLY way to communicate with you. No email, because its NOT secure! And in order to use their secure messaging tool, you have to have an open loan with them to login into their amateur looking website! Instead of email, they request that I FAX the information to them.....time for Cenlar to get drug into the 21st century with improved technology and customer service! This company is HORRIBLE! They are not offering any deferments (tacking payments to the end of the mortgage) during COVID19 for people who lost jobs or are furloughed to part time. Instead they are only doing forbearance which means I can skip a payment but I will owe that same amount next month plus my regular payment. How does this help anyone? After spending an hour on the internet trying to access our mortgage account on line last night, I decided to call CENLAR directly today - IMPOSSIBLE. After waiting on line for 40 minutes, I was disconnected! Problem: Check I made for January payment was not received by CENLAR (so they say). I had a record of mailing correct amount on January 3, 2021. We were charged a late fee which we paid for fear of wrecking our credit record. While on the phone with a representative I checked my in box for bills to be paid and realized I had not received my CENLAR mortgage bill, even though it was Jan 28, 2021 and bill was due Feb 1. Note: I received a phone msg from an unidentified call (I don't usually pick up spam calls) and found out about the Jan payment not being received. When I called back and asked where my February invoice was, I was told "it was sent". What kind of tricks are they playing. I am happy to pay my mortgage, but prefer to pay by mail - CENLAR makes it next to impossible. I do not have a cash flow problem - IF CENLAR WOULD SEND ME AN INVOICE!!!!! This company seems to be a big scam. Unreachable, late fees right & left. While on "hold" for 1/2 hour I decided to check the company records. "YELP" was an eye opener. I am considering switching mortgage companies, but see that it could be a big expense. Also hiring an attorney would be a big expense. I see at least one other person has reported them to the BBB. I just took a break to answer my phone & it was another scammer who hung up on me when I said I had already requested their "do not call press 2". When I came to this page to write a review of Cenlar, it was absolutely no surprise to me to see all of these 1-star reviews. As with many other reviewers, this company is servicing my loan after a re-finance. Their technology is apparently stuck in the early 90s. Their online account site is awful, as is their mobile site. They don't even make statements available online by default. I was applying for a HELOC and needed my latest statement. This is when I discovered they do not make them available online by default. I called to request the latest one and I was told it could take a couple of weeks to get one created and put online. I asked if they could just email the latest to me. The rep I was speaking to had no ability to do anything to help me, but he seemed very happy to be the useless middle-man between me and the mystery department that would have to (apparently manually) "generate" these statements for me. I explained the urgency of my need for the latest one. He talked to someone in the mystery department again and said I would be emailed one within three days. I guess by days he meant weeks, because it's been three weeks and I never received one by email. The rep also told me that he "turned on" a flag (or something) in my account that would ensure I would have them available online in the future. Nothing there either. I sent a message through my account today to ask for a status update on my statements. After reading these other reviews, I have little to no expectation that I will get a response. What a shame that when you get a mortgage, there is no transparency about or control over who you will actually be forced to deal with for the next 10-30 years. So far this company has not been helpful or successful to work with. Our loan was picked up by Cenlar; out of our control. Trying to register online to make sure we do not miss any payments and it doesn't recognize our information. How is that even an issue? Have not received anything in the mail from them either like we were told by our lender. Tried to call and it automatically recognizes my phone number and tells me my payment needed but no way to pay. So frustrating! Of course you receive incompetent responses from online message sent to them and you can't reach them via phone. Cindy- if you are listening please let me know how to talk to someone at your company to actually fix a mistake that Cenlar made 6 MONTHS AGO. We speak to people at Cenlar every month and review the pages of information on the issue. We can never get to the same person twice. Each time we call, we are told they will fix our issue. But in 1-3 weeks we are contacted by Cenlar and either the problem is still there or even worse! We are frustrated, stressed and discouraged. We make every payment and make it ontime. We are not asking for help due to Covid-19. We are told by all agents they see the mistake and will resolve it. Yet now Cenlar has contacted the Credit Report agencies and make a late claim on an amount that isn't even our monthly payment with late fees. Cenlar has even sent us a check for almost $3000 for an "overpayment". Again, we pay our monthly payment and do it with an agent so we can get a confirmation number for each payment. Cenlar is causing us major problems! Has anyone read the Consumer Affairs reports on Cenlar? 100% negative!!!! That's insane that Cenar causes so many problems and doesn't seem to do its job to solve them. I will suggest to Citibank that they stop partnering with Cenlar because Citibank is eventually going to get negative reviews and less customers if they keep using Cenlar. I would walk away from refinancing if Citibank is included because that means that Cenlar will be your mortgage company and they are hurting people! read more

On their website you get forbearance meaning at the end of that tome u pay all of it. I think that if ur applying for assistance that you wouldnt have the funfs??? I didn't think there is a more awful financial service than Citi Bank until they transferred my home equity line to be serviced by Cenlar. Recently, I have decided to pay off my HELC and Cenlar's communication and processing was extremely unprofessional and frustrating. Cenlar's form letter was quite confusing and could have been easily written by a high school drop out. There is a minimum 20 minutes wait to get any help by phone. Finally when you do reach a representative, half the time you can only hear every other word. This is not just on one call but with a dozen calls over 3 weeks. If it was my cell signal at fault, as one representative claimed, then why is it that hours of waiting music that I had to sit through never missed a beat? read more

Let me add my opinion to the many others who are disgusted with Cenlar's "service". (If I could offer zero stars I would.) A year ago I closed my 2nd mortgage with Cenlar after its 5 year term. During that time I punctually paid my yearly fee for keeping the loan , although I never had cause to use any of the available funds. At the end I had to pay $190 to close the loan. Oh well. But then in early January I received a check for $95 for overpayment of that fee. When I went to cash it online it was rejected. I called Cenlar and they said that I had to present the check in person, (why?), but since it was already declined they could cut me a replacement. I have been waiting ever since. I have made innumerable calls and told the story to innumerable people. They keep telling me that the re-issuance of the check is in progress...for 9 months! It's finally made its way to the "satisfaction" department...what a joke! Like the song says, "I can't get no satisfaction!" This company couldn't find its ears, (or any other body part you might think of), with both hands! Right now, it's not just the $95, it's the principle of the thing. Mortgage was transferred to Cenlar after a refinance. The primary reason for my rating is that evidently you're unable to make a future dated payment. What kind of 21st century payment website can only process a payment on the day you enter it? What's funny is the intro payment page mentions verbiage about making future dated payments, and also, there's a video for "how to make a payment" which also shows making a future dated payment. I called them about this because I figured I just had to be missing something. The guy put me on hold for a while then came back and said "uh, sounds like we've taken away this functionality." Why?? This company is HORRIBLE!!!! I would do zero stars if I could. I finally decided to do the online payment system and I entered MY bank info and not my husbands (for obvious reasons I am in charge of bills...) The company took the money out of my husbands account!!! I know it was an IT glitch, and after talking to several unhelpful representative, a nice rep agreed it was their fault. My husbands account is listed on the loan... Long story short.. took money out of wrong account. mailed back the check- THEM said we defaulted a months payment. In the meantime, my husband was overdrawn and we paid over $300 in overdraft fees. Finally a supervisor told me I needed to write a dispute letter then call all 3 credit bureaus to get this credit ding off. This was August. I did all that was asked and just recently got a letter saying Cenlar is not at fault. This is months later!!! Now my credit is terribly hindered and I have always had perfect credit. Holy Cow....you have to bend over backwards to get a hold of someone, I could not find a direct line to customer service after calling the customer service number on my statement. That number seems to be strictly for making a payment as it will hang up on you if you are not making a payment by phone. Eventually i hit 0 a hundred times and got someone. The rep was nice and might have actually fixed my issue. My issue wasn't all that complicated, i had an escrow shortfall that I paid but still has the monthly shortfall amount in my bill. read more

I have been trying since January to receive money owed to me that was removed from my escrow inappropriately. I was charged for lender based insurance after proving proof of my insurance multiple times. A partial refund was sent out but I have been promised a secondary refund for MONTHS and my new mortgage company has not received a thing. I try to call in and get disconnected and I try to send emails and receive responses about my loan being transferred - I am well aware it was transferred but need my money back from what was wrongfully taken! I cannot tell the number of times I have been on hold at various times when you call customer service for 40 mins. I have contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on this company. They Make stuff up. They were supposed to pay my homeowners insurance through my loan. After 3 months of trying to get them to make payment, they told me they didn't know what was happening maybe I should just pay it myself. No attempt at resolution. No attempt to help. I don't know if I've ever worked with a company that was more incompetent. I have been trying to get a refund on a duplicate payment for more than a month. My payment was set to auto debit my bank account. Since I have the funds early I pay early instead of wait for the auto debit. Their policy is that you still have to call to request a cancel of the auto debit for the current month. No problem. I made the November mortgage payment early and called CENLAR to cancel the auto debit. The customer service rep told me they would cancel it, so no problem, right? This is where everything went downhill and continues to plummet! She neglected to tell me you have to call five days before the date of the auto debit for this type of request. The auto debit that I THOUGHT was cancelled hit my account as scheduled leaving my account in the negative. I immediately called CENLAR to request the funds be reversed thinking this would be an easy fix. Especially since I had the exact same issue occur when I paid my mortgage in October. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's now time for me to pay my December mortgage and I have yet to receive the duplicate payment that was made in November. Each time I call CENLAR I get a representative that is very respectful but unable to assist me. Every call ended with me requesting to speak with a supervisor or manager. Unfortunately, that's not possible, their process is for manager or supervisor to call you back within 24 to 48 hours. A lot of good that did because I think I called CENLAR more than 8 times and probably received a call back MAYBE once or twice from a person that reiterated the same conversation as the customer service rep. I was finally told that a refund check was cut on the 17th for the overpayment and a check for the overdraft fees was cut on the 18th. Here's the funny thing, I was told by a customer service agent that the check was cut and sent to my bank instead of me. I was advised they have to send the money back to the entity that they received it from and I need to call them to have the funds applied to my account. I told the agent that makes no sense but I'm thinking no big deal because finally I'm getting my money back. I asked the agent for a contact name for someone from my bank to speak with at CENLAR to confirm the process and exact details about the refund but was told they could not give me a name and advised of the president's email if I want to make a complaint. According to my bank, which I trust, that would not be the policy, the refund should have been sent to me. The bank agent placed me on hold, contacted CENLAR and came back to tell me the check was sent to me. As I shared with CENLAR, I have other bills that I'm unable to pay that are racking up late fees while they take their sweet time to fix this bank error. It's now time to pay December's mortgage and bills but still no refund from CENLAR. I had to go to my bank who gave me a temporary credit to cover the duplicate payment. I have enjoyed, and will continue, a very good relationship with my bank but have advised others to go elsewhere for mortgage or home refinancing simply because of the my experience with CENLAR. I'm sure they will blame their response on COVID. The reality is COVID causes extended wait times not incompetence. If you have a choice RUN from this company and don't look back. I plan to also make a complaint through the Better Business Bureau. If I could give CENLAR negative stars I would. Heed this warning, RUN. read more
