Such a Fun and Magical Experience!!!…read more It was our first time attending, and we had an absolute blast! I was genuinely surprised by how transformative the whole experience was. The festival is built right into the park, and the moment you walk through the gates, you're transported to another time and place. From giant turkey legs and funnel cakes to jousting matches, archery, and lively stage shows, there's never a dull moment! The festival runs for six weeks, with each weekend offering its own unique theme, so there's always something new to see and experience. The vendors are incredible! There is so much craftsmanship, creativity, and heart in every booth. Everyone fully embraces the spirit of the festival. People arrive in costume, and the staff stay perfectly in character, making you feel like part of the story. We'll absolutely be back every year! It's the kind of event that captures your imagination and keeps you coming back for more and with yummy yummy food!

I felt like a lot of the "decor" was just broken down and old painted planks. A lot of things were clearly very old and needed some TLC. I was not impressed with the vendors. It was a lot of cheap mass produced things it seemed. There were some really cheesy setups too. The performers were really neat. They are pretty much making the whole festival because I just didn't feel like the ambiance was there anywhere else. Maybe I went on a weird off day? I'll try again next year and see if my experience changes

This year the festival ran from July 2nd - July 4th…read more Came here for our 4th of July festivities. We arrived semi late. We missed the Carolina Liar concert, but we got here in the nick of time to hear Vertical Horizon. Those are two bands I absolutely love. When we arrived, we had prepped for the O'Fallon parking wars and assumed we'd get there right before or during the fireworks. Luckily, that didn't turn out to be the case at all. The time we left my boyfriend's parents to the time we got to the park was about 10 minutes. I was surprised after hearing from Jason and his dad what chaos it usually was. We paid $5 for parking and went on our way. Making our way to the park, you could hear the music from Vertical Horizon. The path that took us there was not a very long walk at all. It was very busy with lots of people coming to and from the area though. Tents with sprinklers in them were set up. They provided mist for people to walk through to cool them off from the extreme temperatures. I took advantage of that. The path was clean too. I was glad to see people had not littered the site. The park had a fair in it. There were carnival rides and concession vendors everywhere. It was easy to maneuver through. This was a very family oriented affair. Kids were having a lot of fun playing the carnival games, and hoards of teens were congregating together in various areas as you walked through the maze that made up the park. It appeared that some of the vendors were with the carnival and others were local from O'Fallon. Given that some of the prices fluctuated from vendor to vendor. You would go to one vendor that would sell water for $1, then a couple of vendors down, there would be water for sell for $2. I got jipped needless to say and bought the $2 water before discovering the $1 water. I think there should be one set price across the board for what vendors sell to the public. That way people don't find out the hard way like I did and end up paying for the more expensive item. The carnival rides seemed fun. They were very busy and seemed to be the standard run of the mill kind of rides that you would find at any carnival. They had a ferris wheel, kiddy rides, and thrill rides for those who dare. Tickets cost a dollar per ticket. 4 tickets = $4. That was pretty much the price for almost every ride I noticed. Come here with cash because they won't accept credit or debit. I have to point this out, but... Holy hot damn!!!!! I would never have let my daughter (if I had one) out of the house wearing what some of those little tweens were wearing. Girls that could not have been older than 14 were wearing see through tops and belly shirts. There were several girls that had shorts riding up their asses too! I know it is the summer, but honestly they were downright disgusting and distasteful. I would give a long lecture to any parent who let their kids out of the house looking like they did. I'm sorry, I just had to point that out. Finally the fireworks display that we came here to see... What a beautiful site it was. They put on a spectacular display for all the festival goers. The fireworks show lasted about 20 minutes, and considering the cancellations that had occurred all across the Saint Louis area and beyond, I was very happy and surprised they put on a show at all. There had been so many forest fires going on and a major drought that made the weather conditions very unfavorable to have them. O'Fallon took the risk, and it turned out beautifully. I'd most certainly come back. It's definitely worth the trip to take if you live in the city.

This year was my first visit to this event. The entire event is kind of like a family reunion…read more Everyone there seemed to want to help you discover more about your Scottish ancestry. Located at the Chesterfield airport there is ample parking and room for good size crowd. The down side is there is not much shade, so bring your sun screen. The Scottish games are very interesting, but if you are unfamiliar with the games you may have difficulty understanding how they operate. During one of the events one of the competitors came over and explained what was required to compete, but this was not the norm. There are also food vendors on site who have Scottish food items for sale. The bangers and chips were very good. There are also vendors who have other Scottish items for sale. I would recommend attending this event, even if you are not Scottish.

Impersonations aside, the Scottish Games and Culture Festival is pretty sweet. I enjoy going and seeing the classic games played out here in Forest Park. Also during the games I enjoy making my way over to the British Car show where I get to look at the cool old classic roadsters, only wishing that I could have an Austin Healey to bump around in.
