Celebrate is a student rock pop and gospel choire existing since 2001. The quire's leadership and most of the around 60 members are students of the university, but this is not required for taking part in it. Instead everybody who likes to sing can join the quire and is warmly invited. The repertoire contains jovial songs from the Beach Boys, Beatles, ABBA or Grease, atmospheric gospels and taizehs and muscial challenges like Bohemian Rapsody by Queen. There are concerts twice a year: in january and july, where the quire's actual programm can be heard. That the idea to make good music with a number of laymans, having lots of fun is working out perfectly, has been proven in the tv show Der große Grand Prix der Chöre, broadcasted in German tv in august 2008. In this nationwide competition Celebrate came in third, beeing voted by the audience. Besides weekly practise a semester includes a practise week end, two practise saturdays, some small performances (on weddings, f.e.) and lots of inoffical meetings, parties and evenings in the quire's local Komplex 2. read more
