Unfortunately, the issues were systemic and did not improve over time. We experienced repeated communication breakdowns related to medical care, medications, and basic coordination. Information from different staff members often conflicted, and follow-up to urgent questions routinely took days rather than hours. More concerning were issues related to health, safety, and dignity. After water intrusion in my mother's room, professional mold remediation was not completed for approximately two weeks, despite the risks this presents for elderly residents. During that time, there was no clear communication about mitigation or next steps. Staffing and response times were also a serious concern. There were multiple instances where my mother was left waiting on the toilet for extended periods after activating her call pendant. In our experience, only a small number of aides consistently responded, while others were frequently unavailable. This is not a matter of convenience -- it directly impacts resident dignity and safety. I escalated concerns appropriately and worked directly with both the COO and the CEO. Despite this, there was no meaningful improvement. At one point, senior leadership suggested that "maybe your mom needs to leave," rather than addressing the ongoing issues. That comment made it clear that advocacy was being treated as a problem instead of a partnership. Assisted living depends on trust, communication, and accountability. When legitimate concerns about care, staffing, and safety are minimized or deflected, trust erodes quickly. I'm sharing this so other families know to ask detailed questions, document everything, and pay close attention to how concerns are handled over time.
