I tried to discreetly report this to this to the general manager so that they could address it. The manager yelled at me, spoke over me, and called me "trouble". I would not trust these people with your families. I had my two little boys with me and I am very disappointed with myself for trusting this place with their safety. The box springs looked to be about 20 years old and weren't wrapped. Additionally the jetted tubs were dingy, there were lots of overgrowing weeds, and the bolts in the waterfront Adirondack chairs were loose. We stayed on Friday June 29th. We were staying at the motel for the weekend to attend a funeral and wake on Sunday July 1st. We were also planning to celebrate my husband's birthday on Saturday. We drove an extra 4 hours to go home Saturday and come back Sunday since we couldn't stay here with 2 little children who were very unhappy to be in the car. I had to clean my funeral attire on hot heat to destroy any bed bugs and damaged my dress shoes. I had to spend my Monday morning before work going to the doctor look at the bites. I can only imagine what other unsafe conditions exist at this motel. I would not trust them with my family again. It is a shame that they are ruining such a beautiful location with mismanagement and also soiling the reputation of a great area.

Just finished a weeklong stay and had a wonderful time. Room was spotless and well maintained, as was the laundry facility. Being a fisherman, I hit the dock every morning, but first stopping at the office for a complementary coffee and baked good of the day. The motel offers guests kayak and canoe usage free of charge, with larger boat rentals available at very reasonable rates. The proprietors, Rick and Chris, are genuinely friendly and will bend over backward to provide you with anything you need (within reason). Gas grills and firepits are available, with firewood available at very reasonable prices. Took advantage of the chairs and picnic areas, both motel and lakeside, to enjoy the tranquil evenings and chat with the neighbors. Having Summered in the area for years in my youth, I try to get back every year or two. And when I do, the Oxbow is my motel of choice. For a genuine Adirondack experience, it provides everything and lacks nothing.

We stayed in one of their efficiency units-- which had a small kitchen stocked with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans-- there's also a BBQ available if you want to grill something. When we stayed there back in August, there was a little farm vegetable and fruit stand in front of their place--which was terrific, because we were able to get fresh veggies and fruits to have for with our meals. We also rented a canoe and a kayak to spend time in the evening and morning on the beautiful lake watching and listening to the loons. Additionally, there's fire wood for sale if you just want to sit by the fire pit in the evening while gazing at the stars. We highly recommend this lovely place.

After 42 miles on the trail individuals in the group had some equipment issues that needed immediate attention before committing to the next 45 mile section of trail. We were not anticipating staying in Piseco but it was a must. We approached this picturesque historical Adirondack property (not far from Piseco Bob's and the NPT trailhead) after 4 days on the trail... without a shower... to inquire about rooms to sort our issues in a dry place. We smelled like a gang of wet bears that just emerged from hibernation... wandering a hot landfill for food; absolutely repulsive. The inn keeper, Jen, is very accommodating to hikers. She was able to rent us 3 rooms (cheaper than any mainstream hotel ...anywhere on the planet), offered us hot coffee, and assisted us in finding laundry services to clean our heavily punished clothing. We were also invited to the $12 breakfast buffet and told to make ourselves at home while on the property (kayaks, beach, porch, etc). Jen and her staff are amazing humans and infinitely accommodating. They are truly the unsung trail angels of the NPT.

I did not hear or have any communication with THE PINES until I CALLED THEM five (5) days before Our arrival in May. One negative- the AC unit is in the sitting area so if you close the bedroom door at night the bedroom is not cooled. You must leave the door open when sleeping. Rooms were clean- but the disinfectant/cleaner they use has a strange smell that was a bit unpleasant. Recommend they find one that smells better. So I checked my email and had nothing from them. Thankfully someone walked in the office and asked if I needed help. They said it was a text, not an email. I didn't receive a text either. He looked up my info and the text was sent to my home phone number. So he told me my door code. I couldn't remember that code all weekend, so I had to look it up on my phone every time, I'd rather have a key. Also, he didn't tell me how to enter it, but I figured it out. My husband had more trouble when he tried lol. Every time. That keypad is very very touchy. And the kids next door, fighting over who gets to enter the code, yelled it several times. So now the whole parking lot knows their code. I guess Shaheen's is doing a lot of remodeling. I think we had a new room? But I'm not sure if it's finished. The ceilings are painted black, trying to look elegant I suppose, but looks kinda creepy. Many white paint drips / smears everywhere, unfinished carpentry, chips on the freshly painted door. New beautiful bathroom has a large sink but it's completely flat and stuff doesn't rinse down without a ton of effort. Toilet roll is a far stretch to reach. Toilet seat is sharp, really high, and uncomfortable. I know I'm sounding picky here but it was a lot. There is zero soundproofing. Thank goodness we needed the air conditioner, it helped drown out noises from neighbors and construction. For some reason, there was a man sitting in a truck, right below our back window, smoking and playing music loudly. Two nights in a row. Not sure if he was a guest or a worker or what. Public water in the area must be brownish yellow because the new toilet always looked dirty. I noticed the same water in the lobby Keurig machine. I believe the ice machine has a filter because the ice looked clear. As we were leaving, we noticed a little old lady with oxygen was having trouble getting in her door. We watched for a few minutes then asked if she needed help. She told us her door code and we showed her how to do it, but now we have her code. So dangerous if we were the type to take advantage, thankfully we're not. The only plus - my motherinlaw called the hotel to ask if they had any amenities she could purchase for our wedding anniversary. The man said no, but he'd be happy to go get whatever she wanted. She suggested champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. He said he had to go to the store anyways, and he'd make it happen. She called the night before to make sure everything worked out, and he said he forgot! Jeez! He ended up getting a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates from Adirondack Chocolates, and even a card. A very nice touch! But we definitely won't be back.

Upon entry you're instantly clear about the fact that you are on a property with a rich history - one that was probably built from the lumber of the trees right there on its lake. Initially, we had a little trouble getting a hold of them to make the reservation, but once we had that taken care of it was pretty much everything we could ask for. We arrived later on in the evening the first night, so we couldn't actually see much around the B&B and went to dinner. We came back, opened a bottle of wine, sat on the back porch, and stared at what was probably the most stars either of us had ever seen. Then we went to bed. When we woke up, we were not expecting what we saw - shrouded in a morning mist (sounds cheesey - but this is the real deal), the back of the place overlooked the Moose River, a calm portion that almost made up a small lake. It was really amazing, and as it cleared up we were just thrilled to have chosen the place. Access to free canoes and kayaks - which we took full advantage of. The landscaping and area leading down to the river was very nice, a great place to relax after a day of being a tourist or after some light kayaking. The river was very nice, meandering with houses here and there along the shore, perfect for a lazy canoe or kayak trip. Also lots of turtles, water birds, etc., I'd imagine the fishing would be pretty good too. They also have a sweet, sort of vintage tandem bike - good times. We went to have breakfast - a really nice continental - and the owners were really lovely. Super friendly and helpful re: getting around and finding things to do, Stuart and Jimmy were really great. They weren't obtrusive, but made sure we were well taken care of. The room was very nice, everything was sort of an Asian/Northwoods/Antique-y mixture that wasn't too gaudy but you still knew you were in a B&B. If you're planning on hitting upstate New York and you want to stay some place affordable (it was $79/night for 3 nights during the week - you can stay at a crappy hotel for that much or more), this is not to be missed. Friendly, beautiful, and really close to perfect to be totally honest - we were fully satisfied and talk about going back whenever it comes up.
