Growing up in Scarborough, this centre has been my medical hub since I was a child. It is located…read morein the Midland Finch plaza, so it's snapdab in a landscape of mom and pop family restaurants, optical stores, and dessert joints. When you are going in to do blood or urine work and need to fast beforehand, the food options here are convenient for energizing yourself afterwards. I will not vouch for the quality of the food around the centre, but it's better than nothing. My experience here is like riding a teeter totter. Sometimes, it's positive and I feel well serviced and sometimes it's negative and I feel forced into accepting inflexible advice and service. For example, my little sister has struggled with ezcema all her life. She has it on the severe end of the spectrum to boot. After the prescribed medicines given by our doctor here never mitigated her condition for years, she knew she needed to be referred to a dermatologist for more specialized advice instead. However, it took my sister about eleven attempts at asking our doctor to finally be referred! Before that, he would implore her to continue with his treatment and was very rude and demanding when she explained that nothing has worked from him. I am glad he at least gave up and referred her in the end because her ezcema is barely noticeable now after visiting the dermatologist. For me, I experienced similar bouts of unprofessional and hostile tonality from the doctor. I noticed that it usually emerges when you answer his questions in a round about way and when you ask about other alternatives to his advice. Honestly though, when you are discussing your own personal health, then I don't believe it's a stretch for the doctor to provide a high level of emotional labour. On the more positive side of the coin, I have received very good service from this same doctor, albeit on a rarer occurence. For example, today I had my annual physical and he was efficient and answered questions with professionalism. His tone was still a bit curt, but it was tolerable. As for other personnel, they are generally amiable. The nurses for doing blood work and the doctor for x-rays are always great with their customer service. They will sometimes even crack a joke with you to calm you down! Depending on the doctor you get, they can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and a host of other languages. The centre houses most of the services you will need from blood work to x-rays to gynecology and so forth. I would highly recommend going here if some of your family members are not capable of easily navigating medical services in English.

The Finch Midland Medical Centre has been serving this Chinese community for over 20 years. The…read more4-story building is located right at the NW corner of Finch and Midland, in that plaza with all kinds of quick eats and restaurants! Hence, people often complain that there are not enough parking spots, and they are right! But never fear, there are plenty more parking spots BEHIND the restaurants in that plaza... just go in from Midland Avenue. It is quite a lively building, with people going in and out at all hours. There is a pharmacy and a post office conveniently located on the main floor. Once it is past the building opening hours, the main doors automatically lock! The only way you can get out is from the back door near the stairways. Yes, I've seen people madly trying to get out at off hours, getting very frustrated, panicking, banging and pushing on the doors (and swearing!) o_o **NOTE: Please use the back door ** The management keeps the building very clean, inside and out. They have cleaners cleaning throughout the day. The directory is clearly displayed, making it easy for people to find where they are looking for. ** Another thing to NOTE is that there is a 3 hour parking limit during building opening hours ** Management strictly keeps tabs on every vehicle, so be sure not to go past the limit or you'll be fined by a parking enforcement officer for overtime parking at private property. Got one under my belt... #$%@*&%$#

I learnt that Silver Star Rd, extends to Mcnicoll but there's a gap in between. And they aren't in the plazas across the street from the mall. Instead, it's in a brand new excessively big plaza. Only the bottom floor of the building is occupied by a dental office, pharmacy and this medical centre. A WalkIn begins at 1:15pm on Saturdays. It's basically first come first serve and existing patients (like me) can come and line up for their doctor. Due to my huge detour, I was late and when I got there finally was 1:30pm. There was already 20 people in line, and I had to convince them to tack me on at the end. They also did tell me I'd probably be waiting til 3:30. I was all the way already, oh well. Although brand new, the office seems really unorganized. With 3 ladies, they are trying their best to deal with random patients asking them questions. I guess the benefit might also be to you, as you can sneak in through the line if you get in on their good side, but it's determent to others. Okay , so I had 2+ hours to kill. There were a few lunch places - Chako BBQ, Yummy and some Malaysian Noodle Place. I chose Yummy. They have free wifi. Now, if you have some time to kill, bring your device here, as opposed to the Starbucks across the street which was full of students studying. I left lunch, thinking that I could go to the Foot Massage place and kill another hour. I went in, and it was so sketchy. Dark - and the lady basically chased me out and made sure that I had left by pieaking out the door a 2nd time. Also she says their rate was $40 for half hour and $60 for an hour. What kind of Chinese place has these rates? There's also a Rona across the way if you're inclined to go there. Other than that, you're basically stuck. I went back into the offices, and decided to wait. There were power outlets in various places so I was in hand with Laptop for some distraction. When it was almost my turn, they called me on my cell, which was a nice gesture, but I was already here. I was out of the place by 4:00pm with my medical mission accomplished. Just a lot longer than usual.

I originally booked an appointment through Specialty Rx Pharmacy for a COVID-19 antigen test. When I arrived at the pharmacy, I was directed over to Ellesmere Healthcare Centre to check in. I got Joan at reception, who was the sweetest woman. I indicated that I had an appointment at 10:45 am. She found me and asked that I fill out a short form. The last question in a series of five was a trick. Most of the questions had me answer no. The last one asked, "Are you fully vaccinated?" I checked no accidentally. Oops! We got that straightened out. You do need to provide proof that you are you. A passport or driver's licence work. I provided the latter. Done! I had already provided my health card details online, so I didn't need to flash that. It was strange, but I'm guessing that my driver's licence proof reinforced my health card information. She confirmed that I was travelling to the States. You do need to have this antigen test within 72 hours before your departure. She had to think about my situation. I said that it was more like 52 hours. We both chuckled, as she implied that math was not her strong suit. She entered my information into the system. I had added my credit card information online, but her payment system was down. We settled payment at the pharmacy, which was smooth and seamless. When she was ready, we headed over to a medical room. She let me know that I could keep my mask on, but to lower it enough for her to swab both nostrils. She used a swab with a brush tip. She swabbed and it felt like a tickle, but without my bursting out in laughter. It was oddly enjoyable. Who knew?! She let me know that it would take ten minutes for my test result. She said that I could come back in ten minutes. I indicated that I'd wait in the waiting area, which was cool with her. Sure enough, ten minutes later, she had my printed report ready. She had also sent me a digital version of it. She asked that I look over all details to make sure that everything was good. It was. I wished her a great day. She wished me a safe trip. It was such a great experience. This clinic does take patients. It doesn't take walk-in patients, but you can book an appointment to see a doctor. The clinic is clean. The pharmacy and clinic are under one roof without any walls when you are inside. Both businesses have separate entrances. I'm guessing that it's a design trend these days. There is plenty of parking at this plaza. I wish that Chatime were open when I was there. I'll need to come back and check it out, along with the other stores. I'd return here for future antigen tests for travel. The report quality is perfect and it was $39. (429)

There's a pharmacy attached and it leads right to a very new and shiny waiting room! When I came in there was no wait at all! I'm talking like 5 minutes tops! Doesn't get any quicker then that! The pharmacist, Brent was super friendly as well! Making conversation and all that good stuff. Five stars for sure for this place! Then one of the receptionists asked us if we were using our phones and we both answered no. We had our phones out but not in use - we were not even looking at our phones at all. He's abrupt and has the worst bedside manner that I've ever encountered in a doctor. I come from a family of medical practitioners who are specialists in the practice of oncology and Pediatric pulmonology plus a slew of nurses and I know how stressful their job is but this dude is so unprofessional and dismissive. My family doctor just retired and we are just waiting for the patient file transfer to another doctor. I'm thinking it may just be better to go into the emergency room at any hospital compared to this doctor and clinic. I will give 0 star, unfortunately it doesn't have that option. The staff more than makes up for this doctor's bad manners though I don't think OHIP should be charged anything for this dreadful consultation - if you could even call it that.
