Great photo opportunities are everywhere and the property is well maintained. I was even able to find the most perfect pumpkin I have ever seen in my life.

Inside the big space with a custom fridge and tables and chairs, the season's harvest awaited. Some fresh, some pickled, all enticing. I got honey, maple syrup, pickled dilly beans, homemade salsa, and pickled asparagus. (Had three more days of driving so didn't get anything fresh.) The honey is raw and veggies organic. Mel was warm and inviting. It was worth driving backwards for 100 yards.

Each of the last several July's (Covid 2020 too) there's a farm in the heart of Shawano County…read morethat's home to a fabulous field of sunflowers. What makes this field more special than most is that the Bergsbaken family opens up to the community to share in the beauty of the blooming sunflowers. They create trails to walk through the field and strategically place platforms so you can capture the just right photo of sun/sunflower. The field remains open to the public for as long as the flowers are in bloom. One special weekend the farm fully opens to the public and really lets you in. On this one July weekend there are crafts for sale, trailer rides, food to purchase, kids activities and of course sunflowers to purchase. The Bergsbaken family puts out a free will donation box and asks you to make a small donation in order to take part in the sunflowers. This is a sight to behold and in this socially distant world of 2020 what could be better than a walk with a loved one amongst something as bright as a few thousand sunflowers.

Nicole was so helpful in assisting us with every detail to make our event unforgettable for all of our guests. All of the food was exceptional too and the service from the bartenders to the waitstaff was terrific. The Backstage is perfect for the smaller shows that can't fill up the 1000 seats in the Meyer. The show I went to was very calm and chill. The lights were dim and tables and chairs were scattered with candles. It felt very intimate, which did make the show enjoyable. There's a bar in a far corner of the venue. I love that the only beers they had on tap were Green Bay craft brews. That's awesome that they support the local breweries. Besides that they had plenty of bottles to create whatever cocktail that you desire. I know they have their own kitchen and can cater any kind of event. I haven't been to any of those events or tried the food, but I bet they can organize some pretty wicked events.

This will definitely be a repeat stop for us every time we're in Green Bay! I would highly recommend Mona Rosa Winery to everyone.

We stopped in on a cold Sunday afternoon for a go at the nickel slots (I know, just call me Nick…read morethe Greek), and dinner at the casino's Forest Island restaurant. The casino floor was a typical mix of electronic slots, perhaps smokier than most--and, yes, we came out modestly ahead. Friendly service at the Guest Services desk. The Forest Island restaurant features both a buffet and a menu selection; we opted for the latter. Nothing awful, but a couple of minor problems: lipstick on one coffee cup, and we were given a bowl of soup rather than the cup we ordered. (When we pointed this out, though, the waitress was very nice, and only charged us for a cup. We tried: - Corn chowder: Creamy, chunky, but a bit under-seasoned. - Wild rice meat loaf (something of a house specialty): A huge chunk of pretty good meat loaf, but a bit burned on the outside. - Black patty melt: A well-grilled burger and cheddar on rye, with thousand island dressing. Overall, probably not a place I'd go just for the food, but probably adequate to the expectations of most of the casino's patrons.
