My friend had recently posted on Facebook about the beautiful home send-off of her best feline friend of 20 years, and before that I thought the only way was to make those soul-crushing car rides and have it done in a place that usually scares them. We decided that calling someone in to do it in Spatz's favorite spot by the window where she'd doze off while watching the constant action at the bird feeders would be perfect. Dr. Beth was professional, explaining each part of the process beforehand and during it, asking permission between each step and giving us all the time we needed to process each one. While Spatz was whacked out on the sedative, Dr. Beth made a lovely casting of her paw print as a keepsake and offered to snip a lock of fur, which we declined to do. When she confirmed the deed was done, she expressed her condolences and discreetly slipped away to allow us to grieve privately as a family. Everything she did for us was perfect, and we're so grateful to have been able to give Spatz that one last gift of drifting away painlessly in her sleep with the assistance of a compassionate soul. It's a god-awful thing to have to say goodbye to someone that's a cherished part of your life, but I'm absolutely convinced that doing it at home is the most wonderful way to do it - both for your animal friend and for sparing yourself the agony of seeing how afraid they are at the clinic so soon before they go and being helpless to stop it.

Doctor Beth drove to our house in the middle of her busy work day and comforted all four of us - me, Chuck, little Truman, and Kayla - with her gentle words and her calm efficiency. Kayla died in peace and comfort because of her, and we thank her and Creature Comfort for being there when we most needed help. Like Comment Share

I chose Pleasant Valley Vet years ago simply because my mom and pops have always brought their dogs…read morethere and said that they like Dr. Bougie. This is a good example of why we should listen to the wisdom of our elders. The first dog that I had (as an adult) came to me with a seizure disorder. When Dr. Bougie met her and looked at her prescription she immediately had concerns about my dog's well-being. Apparently, the vet that her former owner had used had put the dog on the dosage for a 60 pound dog (when she weighed less than 15.) Unfortunately, this opened my dog up to all kinds of problems including possible liver damage. Dr. Bougie did the necessary tests to ensure that our little pooch was okay, worked with us to establish a new medication routine and helped me deal with the inevitable seizures that came with the medication changes. When we got a new puppy, that had received none of her shots, Dr. Bougie did the exam, gave her the appropriate shots, tested her poop and spent fifteen or twenty minutes just going through what to expect from your puppy. She very obviously wanted us to have a successful experience training our new pup and was willing to take the time to give us advice. (BTW: Puppy is still a baby, but training is great so far!) The staff at Pleasant Valley is super friendly and have fantastic memories for pets' names. They always take care of us well, whether we are at the office or just calling in a prescription. The only issue I have ever had with staff was my experience with the substitute veterinarian. She basically talked down to me and made me terrified that my dog was going to slip into a coma during one of her seizures. I am sure that she was just trying to emphasize the serious nature of seizures, but she had absolutely no people skills and literally treated me as if I were effing Paris Hilton tossing my dog into my purse and heading to the disco (or where ever it is kids go these days.) Pleasant Valley basically loses one star because they allow this vet to sub. She really does not reflect the normal friendly attitude of the staff. I did let the staff know about my experience with her and they know to only schedule appointments for my pooches while Dr. Bougie is there. The facilities are nothing fancy, but everything is kept pretty clean. You usually see a few cats who live at the office wandering around and sometimes a staff member's dog will be behind the desk. So.... if you don't like animals, this may not be the veterinarian office for you! If making an appointment with Pleasant Valley, I would highly encourage you to ask to see Dr. Bougie to get the best care for your furry friend!

They truly, truly care about you and your pets and they have taken such good care of my kitties. Every vet tech and doctor I've met has been so gentle and warm with my scared kitties. I am always met with genuine, welcoming smiles and hellos as soon as I walk in. My concerns about my pets have always been taken seriously, and they are always somehow able to fit me in for appointments when I need them. I am so incredibly grateful for the women that work there and I will always trust my babies in their care. Every single penny I spend there is worth it, without a doubt.

I had been taking my small animals and large animals to Fredonia Vet Clinic for years. They are 10…read moreminutes from my house. So it was very convenient, especially for emergencies. That positive outweighed the negative of them going through vets every year or two, and the fact they are more expensive than comparable Clinics. I just learned they lost another vet six months ago. I had called the office twice in the last 6 months for services and they did not tell me. The third time I called them, they called me by my name (because they know who I am), but then proceeded to tell me that they are "not accepting new clients". I informed the person I am not a new client. I have been a client with you for years. She claimed that she has not heard from me in a year which is not true. I asked her when exactly were they planning on telling me including the last two times I called them in the last couple of months. She did not have a response. The most problematic thing of this situation is they are not telling clients that they are dropping them, and one of these days, somebody is going to have an emergency and they will refuse to see them. When I pointed this out to her, she blamed it on the vet quitting. As far as I'm concerned, professionalism and communication, is a function of the office and management. It is no wonder why they keep losing vets. And it leads me to belive they're going to stop doing equine altogether due to their revolving door.

Hi there, I have been a patient of yours for my cat and…read moredog for 5 years. I have sent so many people your way because I have been so pleased with the service and especially really impressed with the care/empathy with a front desk woman by the name of Karen. She had always made me feel warm and comforted when things have been hard with my animals, my cat, especially. Today I was told to call Karen when I texted in my concerns for an appt. So I did so. Her lack of care and the tone of her voice with me/along with actually yelling at me over the phone about my potentially dying cat was absolutely mind blowing. If your place of work is with people and their animals you cannot treat people like that. ESP in times like this. I understand that this place has been going through a ton of changes, not enough help etc and I have been over -the -top patient in those situations. I was even late for work a few times because I wasn't taken for my appt on time. The issue seems to be (not that I'm condoning crappy treatment for this regardless) that I canceled two appts with more than enough notice because my cat was doing better with both treatments that I had picked up. Why would I still bring her in and cause her anxiety. The alleged "no show" that I was accused of can be described as I called days before and left a voicemail that I didn't need the appt anymore. I am so very heartbroken and disappointed in being treated this way today. Especially during a very hard time with my animal. Very sad. Karen should be ashamed of herself. You guys need to do better. I will be leaving this review online as well. Kelly

My husband and I took our cat to this clinic for 10 years and it was fine for routine exams…read more However, once our cat had a medical issue we were no longer comfortable with their care. Two months ago we suspected something was wrong when Arthur lost a lot of weight and his litter box was very wet. We took him to the clinic, they took his blood and we waited. We called numerous times over the next week to get the results. When we finally got hold of the vet we learned Arthur was diabetic. They had us start Arthur on 2 units of insulin and come back to have his blood tested. Ultimately they said we should up his insulin to 5 units. They also recommended we change his food to a dry food with high carbs. After all this, Arthur became lethargic, had trouble walking up stairs, and clearly wasn't feeling well. We had to believe there would be better care somewhere else and a friend recommended a clinic with a good reputation for working with diabetic cats. The new clinic has made a big difference. They suggested a low carb wet food that is for diabetic cats. They pulled down his insulin to 4 units and gave advice on testing Arthur's blood at home to check his glucose level (which resulted in bringing him down to 3 units). Arthur appears to be feeling better with these changes.
