I've accompanied a member here twice now and wish we had something similar to this closer to Charlotte. First things first: For all intents and purposes, this is a private club. You either need to be a member or be with a member at all times while you're here. They recently installed a fence at the entrance that you have to either swipe a pass or enter a code to for entry, but on the weekends it's typically open, with the "Members Only" signs posted beside the gate. As far as the range, it's the best-case scenario. They have a 200 Yard rifle range and 21 pistol bays (split between large and small pistol, with some bays outfitted with steel plates and others where you mount paper targets). There is no Range Safety Officer present, hence why prior approval is not only required, it's a necessity. You (or the member that brought you) are responsible for your safety and treating your guns safely. That being said, for those comfortable and experienced with guns and gun safety, shooting outdoors without a third party looking over your shoulder is much more relaxing. New membership is limited, and from their website it looks like they're at full capacity, as the number of new members is based on current members that fail to renew. Keep this in mind that you'll be on a wait list if you do want to apply for membership. While I can't get up here all the time due to the distance (and the fact that I have to rely on a friend whose dad is a member to gain entry), I always enjoy my time up here.

It's a private club (my father has been a member for the better part of ten years) so the first thing you notice is the gate out front of the entrance. You need a badge to get in most days so it keeps random folks from just walking in and horsing around a gun range. Next thing up the drive is the fishing pond. Really lake would be a better descriptor, there's tons of shoreline to stand on and cast off. Follow the road a little further and to your left is the archery range and one set of the pistol ranges. I haven't personally used the archery range but the pistol stalls are quite nice. Six for paper targets only and two on the end with steel target plates, all with a nice wooden benches/tables. Opposite side of the road are the skeet shooting stations. Wednesday seems to be the popular day to go shoot clay pigeons. Continuing down the road the clubhouse is on the right, rifle range on the left. Rifle range consists of maybe a dozen different bays varying at ranges of 50, 100, and 200 yards. Beyond that and all the way down the left side of the road are more than a dozen additional pistol ranges. The place always seems well maintained and I've never had a problem with the staff or other members. Look them up if your trying to find a great place for some outdoorsy fun.

On that note, basically it is a very nice simple location with adequate facilities and reasonable prices. It's definitely not as fancy as you might get somewhere else, but it's not trying to be. So if you're just looking for a place to go practice your swing, this is great. Relaxed atmosphere and a little bit of quiet without driving to a country club is great. They also have a simple mini golf section. It's really definitely not their main feature. And in the offseason times like Fall, you probably won't be seeing it cleaned much, so expect leaves on the course. That said, it's kind of like a seasonal Hazard that changes up if you think of it that way. You can tell people mostly come for the practice range. But on a plus side the lack of crowding means you would have a lot of fun with kids. And unlike other mini golf areas nearby, you don't have to contend with being quite as noisy. There isn't a lot of traffic on the nearby Road and you actually are set off well enough with trees to make it feel a little more easy-going.

We live near this private pool and have considering joining since moving to Lewisville in July…read more2022. Our neighbors recently invited us to visit as their guests. They are also new to the neighborhood but joined at the beginning of the season. We learned they are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends, 7 days per week, (Monday-Saturday from 11am-8pm and Sunday from 1-8pm). Upon entering, we weren't quite sure what to expect but were quickly impressed. There is a small check-in/office area which is occupied by at least one employee/lifeguard. We also noticed they offer basic snack related items such as freshly popped popcorn, packaged chips, bottled soda and candy related items. They may offer more than that as well but we didn't look closely. Upon entering the gate there are plenty of lounge chairs on 3 sides of the large pool. There are also plenty of tables and chairs in both table/umbrella/chair sets and wooden picnic tables under a pergola area. Therefore, it appears all the tables are at least partially shaded. We found a table area to place our items and small cooler since our neighbors advised us we could bring our cooler with both adult and non-adult beverages. The pool is L-shaped and based on the details within the brochure, covers 4,400 square feet. The pool begins at 2 feet and the majority of the pool is 3 1/2 to 4 feet in depth which allows both adults and children to relax and cool off while the area with the diving board is 12 feet deep. There are at least two lifeguards on duty at all times. 15 minutes of each hour they alert members via a whistle which means children must exit the pool for the 15 minute period to rest. The pool was initially a bit chilly but we quickly begin to feel refreshed in the hot August weather. We enjoyed chatting and sipping on our favorite summer beverages. While there were families of all sizes enjoying the pool it did seem to be a good fit for those of us who no longer have kids at home. There are both women's and men's restrooms in the bathhouse area complete that were adequately stocked. Overall, they could be cleaner but they are adequate for a pool environment. We have always considered putting in a pool as we have lived in different areas and homes and have explored different options including swim spas, container pools, stock tanks and above ground pools. In the end, it came down to cost and maintenance. We've came to the conclusion over the years that the cost and maintenance to have our own probably doesn't make sense based on the amount of usage and space it would occupy. After coming one time we looked into the cost to join late in the summer. We found more information at www.willowrunpool.com and were able to email our questions. We decided to join for the month of August and plan to be back in May 2024. The cost of membership allows us to utilize a pool that is less than 1.5 miles from our home and leaves the upkeep and associated costs to someone else. We are excited to continue to enjoy!

This was a very pleasant surprise to me. Long Review I have been seeing the flags hanging on the light poles in downtown Mocksville advertising the Davie Crocketts baseball team. I thought, Mocksville has a minor league team? Well, it's a collegiate level team, according to their web site. Don't come here expecting the same experience you get at a Dash game. It's more baseball and with no fun stuff between innings. Tickets were only $9 so I thought, what the heck. As stated above, you can buy the tickets at their web site or at the gate. They email you the tickets and accepted the digital copy on my phone when I arrived. Nobody scanned the ticket. At the beginning of the game, the announcer welcomed us to "historic" Mando field. Well, okay, but just because it is old doesn't make it historic. The benches get uncomfortable after a few innings, and shook every time someone moved or sat down. The game I went to was a 6:30 PM start, and the sun was a little unbearable from the main seating area. The seats face west so you have the sun in your eyes while trying to watch the game. There are a few spots to sit where you can avoid it. The product on the field was okay. The Davie Crocketts were very aggressive at bat which resulting in a lot of hits and runs. Their competition, the Hungry Mothers (I am not making this up), were not great. Lots of missed infield plays resulting in errors. Of course I don't remember how many errors the Hungry Mothers had because the scoreboard was partially malfunctioning. The Runs, Outs and Errors lights were not working. Is this a Yelp 5 Star product? No, but I really want the Davie Crocketts to do well, plus they exceeded my expectations with having beer for sell. No draft but canned beer, including a Fiddling Fish option.
