The venue itself is gorgeous for a wedding. I had my ceremony at the back covered patio area due to high chance of rain on the wedding day but it worked out wonderfully. I didn't go with catering for my wedding ceremony since we were going to have a Chinese banquet later in the evening. There was a misunderstanding between the Wescadia representative and I but I was unhappy to find out about the charge for water (moreso the beverage containers). Otherwise communication with the main Cecil Green rep Lindsay was easy and efficient over email. She is very understanding and accommodating with my questions and requests. What a stunning place! My husband and I got married here last summer and the location was everything we wanted. The rooms and grounds were beautiful, the details were exquisite, and our guests had a fantastic time. It was perfect for our small (approximately 50 people) wedding. Ann Merling was helpful before, during, and after the wedding. The only drawbacks were that the catering had to be done through Wescadia and the price (for the venue and catering) were comparatively high. read more

It's gorgeous, yes, but try to plan your wedding there and you'll regret it!!! Customer service is atrocious. Actually horrible. I can't get over how it's taken months to just get a few things clarified!!!!!! Wescadia catering and their incompetent staff make up most of the reason it's so bad. The rest of my wedding planning has been a breeze - wonderfully easy. Anything and everything that has included Wescadia has taken months longer than necessary and they have a long list of the stupidest rules, everything will cost you more money and you won't hear from them when you need a response. I got married there a couple of weeks ago - held both the ceremony and reception. We loved the venue, and our guests did as well. It's such a beautiful location, you really can't go wrong! It offers you the option of indoor or outdoor, so with fickle weather like we have in Vancouver, it's nice to have the backup. The venue is not the cheapest by any means, but we felt the beauty was worth the price. The service I found was very friendly and they really do try to accommodate; However, I do have to say, they seem disorganized a lot of the time, and staff are often "out of the office." I did feel like I was just one of their many clients, so do not expect any special attention. All in all, I have read horror stories about the venue, but that was not my experience. I work at UBC, so I'm a bit biased. Cecil Green Park House is a gorgeous historic building on campus overlooking the ocean. It has a very interesting history and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. It is an excellent place to hold a meeting or a more extravagant event, such as a wedding. read more

Cecil Green was a beautiful venue to host a wedding in the summer. We were very fortunate to have a sunny day in July where we could have the ceremony, lawn games, and refreshments on the lawn. We had the dinner on the terrace and watched the sunset while enjoying the delicious food and speeches. The staff were a joy to deal with and were incredibly helpful when we had any questions! I would highly recommend this venue for weddings! It has an elegant and classic feel. read more

A great venue with a great view. However, dealing with them can be somewhat of a nightmare. We were passed off from person to person, who each decided to go on vacation during what you would think is prime wedding season - July/Aug - so having to send 3-4 emails to get anyone's attention and then wonder what slips through the cracks when the new person finally answers and is brought up to speed is annoying. Also, watch for random people walking in and stealing your things or hire someone to stand out front. It's an actual problem. Our 'guests' only got thru half a bottle of gin and signed the guest book before we threw them out. It is a good location for a wedding. I recommend outside since it got really hot and stuffy with no AC or air flow inside. For the amount of money - having to use their so-so catering and general lack of caring - even getting our names and info wrong after the wedding - there seems to be a disconnect or to many people 'handling' an account. 5 Stars for the view at sunset. read more

I guess the bias can go both ways if the wedding event goes bad. I gave it a 1 b/ c my bias is against the event & not necessarily the venue. My sister Karen got married here over 5 yrs ago & our family was stuck near the childrens table. Truly a sign of disrespect & snobbery on the grooms side. Nevertheless I found the whole event a disappointment & food was forgettable & I wasnt even drinking. Venue felt old & dated & unwelcoming but thats b/c the participants gave us reason to dislike the event. 1.5 stars if I factor out the creepy family members. read more

I always visit this place summer or winter every other year since I left BC for California. I rate this place, underatedly stunning. It doesn't rival houses found on 17-Mile Drive down Carmel, but nothing rivals it's location atop the cliffs of Point Grey. Being an alumni of UBC, I could probably use this mansion, if I ever get married, as a reception hall---since that's never going to happen, I will always visit this very gorgeous mansion. read more

My daughter's wedding was absolutely perfect. Cecil Green Park House provided a magnificent venue. The wedding was in the beautiful garden facing the pond, the reception on the terrace and the dinner in the house. The venue could not have been more perfect for our needs. It helped that the house was a suitable Hogwarts for our Harry Potter theme! The venue staff were very helpful on the day of the event and leading up to it. I would not hesitate to recommend Cecil Green Park House as a venue for any special occasion. read more

My fiance and i book this location for the summer of 2018. We were told when that we had to put a down payment in order to keep our date... the Manager Mariella Koc-Spadaro explained to us that even tho the contract said there were penalties for cancellations they would not be in effect if we were to give a fair amount of time and notice. So we put our trust in her word and put down our payment.. We booked a day to come and see the venue with my mom and Mariella never showed up she claimed she had a meeting....we then tried multiple times to get in contact with her to get dimensions and facts on the building and she continued to give us strictly info that was in the booklets that were given to us already..(she was no help at all) We then had to cancel due to personal reasons. and Mariella with ZERO consideration to our prior conversion of over looking the penalties put our cancelation thru to the accounting department and we were penalized $1000 out of the 2500.... We have since tried to make contact with her by phone and she has ignore our voicemail's and has made no effort to simply answer our questions... The location is beautiful but the Woman running the show has poor people skills and a lack of respect and integrity... it would be a so nice if she could simply respond to our messages. read more
