When I went to pick it up, I was so wowed that I cussed...a few times haha sorry guys! The bezel fit the diamond and head of the ring perfectly. I asked to see the pricing, and while I found the item in the catalog, I was told the catalog prices were outdated. The salesperson later returned with a quote of more than $6,000. The price immediately seemed much higher than the current market, but I paid a $3,500 deposit to place the order. After leaving the store, I called another reputable jeweler and was quoted a significantly lower price for the same type of necklace. I immediately contacted this store to cancel the order and explained that the price was substantially above market value. What bothered me most was their response. Instead of addressing why their price was so much higher, I received multiple text messages suggesting that if the necklace was "out of my budget," I should let them know because the owner might be able to offer a discount. That response was both insulting and dismissive. Budget was never the issue--I had already demonstrated that by putting down a $3,500 deposit. My concern was the apparent overpricing of the necklace compared to other reputable jewelers. Rather than acknowledging my concern or explaining the pricing difference, they chose to imply I simply couldn't afford it. I also want to note another aspect of my experience. I am a Black woman. After my interaction, my white husband contacted the store to discuss the same issue. Based on our experience, he was treated very differently. His concerns were received in a more respectful and accommodating manner than mine were. While I can't speak to the store's intent, the contrast in how we were treated was significant and left me questioning whether I was afforded the same level of respect and customer service. As a customer, I expect transparency, professionalism, and respect. If there is a legitimate reason for a higher price, explain it. Don't assume a customer can't afford a purchase when they've already committed thousands of dollars toward it, and ensure every customer receives the same level of courtesy and professionalism. I encourage anyone shopping here to compare prices with other jewelers before making a purchase. Doing so saved me thousands of dollars.

We went to their location in the West County Mall in St. Louis where Jayson helped us through the entire process with complete ease. I knew only that my diamond had to be a marquise and it had to be set in white gold. He made the rest happen and by the end, I had my dream engagement/wedding ring with the one exception that I wanted a one carat diamond. He knew we didn't have much money (I worked for Starbucks and Matthew was active duty Army), but was more than helpful with the financial arrangements. He even reassured me that getting my rings soldered together prior to the wedding day wasn't going to be a bad omen for my marriage (silly, I know now looking back). Fast forward to 2014. Jayson is now working at the St. Clair Square store and he is once again helping us but this time we're upgrading my half carat to a full carat. My dream come true! They were having a special diamond show on the day I decided to stop by and I saw the diamond that I wanted to see on my finger everyday. One problem: it was $11,000. There was literally NO way that was going to happen. The man running the show made a call to his boss and tried to knock down the price as much as he could. He gave Jayson the price he got it down to and Jayson worked his magic with his vice president. After the good 20 minutes it took to come to a final price, he told me the number and I couldn't refuse. Not only would the diamond be mine, but because of the diamond show, they also had a man setting the stones in store! My ring would be ready to wear within HOURS. I'm not generally a touchy feely person unless you're my husband or my parents, but I gave Jayson a huge hug when I came back to pick up my ring -- and there may have almost been tears. I wore a smile that day almost as big as when Matthew first slipped that ring on my finger. None of it could have been done without Jayson. I may look at other jewelry stores, but Rogers & Hollands will always be the nearest and dearest to my heart.

Zales, Helzberg, Tiffany's, Kay, etc. The service at the low end jewelry stores were not great. You always felt pressure to buy something, plus I never liked the idea of browsing inside a mall. The high end stores always had great customer service, but I didn't want to pay more than double just for the name. It's not like anyone will ever ask what brand the ring is as long as it big, bright, and sparkly. We were going to the Fairview Heights mall when we passed by a free standing Jared store. I was thinking we could just go look. It wouldn't hurt to look. Good thing that we did, because we were able to find exactly what we wanted. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by one of the sales associates, Carrie. Since it was our first time in a Jared, she offered to give us a tour of the store. It was a lot bigger than other jewelry stores. They carry many brands, including LeVian and Tag Hauer. The tour was the best part of our visit that day. I'll explain below. After the tour, we were able to look at wedding rings for him. Jared has this policy were their prices are the lowest that you will find at all times. They don't have sales like you would see at Zales or Kays. They guarantee the lowest prices everyday so you don't have to worry about missing out. This could be a good or a bad thing. Good if you want to buy something that will never go on sale like men's wedding rings. My fiance looked at rings and it was between two. He initally wanted this black titanium ring, but Carrie talked him out of it. Thank god. I wasn't too happy about that choice. She told him that he might like it now, but he might not like it so much 10 or 15 years down the line, which I completely agreed with. He finally chose a nice silver titanium ring that I was very happy with. Now it was on to me. We had been looking for a wedding ring to match my engagement ring for a while. He bought my ring 4 years ago so you can imagine how difficult it might be. I saw some that were pretty close, but I could tell that they didn't match and that would really bother me. Here is where the tour came in so handy. When she was giving us the tour, I randomly saw this wedding ring set that really stood out to me. Very beautiful with diamonds in a pave setting. It was exactly something I would have picked if I picked out my engagement ring. Carrie brought it out for me to look at and when I put it on, it just looked perfect. I was so excited. My fiance saw how happy I was and bought it for me. Now I am anxiously waiting for it to come. At first they told us it would be ready in August. I was not very happy about that so I gave them a call the day after and they said they would put in a rush order for us at no extra charge. How is that for customer service? My experience at Jared has been completely awesome! I feel like they are a mid-tier jewelry store that you would be proud to buy your ring at, instead of going to one of the ones in the mall.
