Dr Tello, who works in the same office, placed a crown after I had a molar treated with root canals. The crown did not fit, and there was a gap between it and the tooth next to it. I was in constant pain, and returned (300+ miles each way) a couple of times due to the issue and Dr Tello, after removing the decaying, impacted food stuck in the gap, told me that I wasn't doing a good enough job of keeping it clean, and I should buy a waterpik, which I did. I asked him if the crown should be replaced or if the tooth next to it needed work to fill in the gap and he said no. He was very rude, and spoke very poorly of Dr Ceballos the last couple of times I saw him. I had to have a front tooth crown replaced since it fell out, this was done last spring. The crown was not very old, and fell out while eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. On the last visit, he got angry with me that I didn't bring my mouth guard. I wanted a new one made, and assumed the old one was no good, and I was willing to pay for a new one. He didn't want to stay at work and make the mouth guard (he'd done it for me before in less than 30 minutes). The receptionist, who was always very kind and helpful finally told me they would have it made, since they already had the impressions, and they would mail it to me, and I would get it in a week or so. 6 weeks later, after my recently replaced crown chipped due to not having the night guard, I emailed the office. Miraculously, in a week or so, I received the new mouth guard. Post dated the day I complained about never receiving it. They either forgot or it just wasn't important enough to send it to me. A week after receiving the mouthguard I was cleaning it and it broke in half. I showed it to the new dentist and they said it was the poorest quality they have ever seen. I was charged full price. I have complained about Dr Tellos numerous times, but to no avail. Recently, I was in such intense pain that I went to a local dentist and had X-rays and a mouth MRI done. The dentist asked me where I had the dental work done, and I told him by a reputable dentist in Tijuana. He responded with "looks like a back alley dentist, I've never seen such poor work in the 30+ years I've been practicing." He recommended the tooth be extracted and an implant procedure be performed. After speaking with the local dentist after he reviewed the x-rays I contacted Dr. Ceballos's office and was offered a $200 credit towards an implant which I was told I needed. I spent much more than this on the root canals, the crown and other work associated with this area of my mouth performed by Dr. Tello. I couldn't believe that this was both their offer and solution without even asking me to come in to check out the tooth. Fortunately, I found a dentist in Tijuana who I was able to send the x-rays to, who said they could fix the tooth with a high likelihood of not needing the tooth being extracted. The crown that was made incorrectly had to be removed and replaced, and the back tooth that had so much filling material buildup on top of it had to have all of the material removed as it looked like a "Bondo job", and then numerous cavities were found under both teeth and had to be fixed before the new crowns could be put on. There were also cavities between the second tooth that had the bad crown and the third tooth that had to be corrected. And all I spent over $3300 to have the substandard work corrected in addition to about $1000 worth of missed work and over $1000 for the trip down and back home. Unfortunately I wasn't able to access the results from the CT until after I had the work done in Mexico to repair the terrible work done by Dr. Tello, I plan to pursue legal action in the Mexican court system to recover whatever damages I am able to recover.
Three different dentists have told me that the crown in question ranks up there with the worst work they have ever seen.
If this review helps one person to avoid having to go through the painful ordeal I experienced it will make me happy as nobody should have to experience this level of care, even in Mexico. In my opinion, Mexican dentistry is now at a similar level of quality as American, in fact generally speaking the dentist spend more time with you explaining the procedures and making you as comfortable as possible. I would recommend the new dentist but I do not want Dr. Ceballos's office to know of the new dentist and possibly harass them. Everything I have said in this review is 100% accurate and I did not make this review in any way to harm their practice, it was simply to protect the public from experiencing anything similar to what I experienced. read more
