CDL replaced some hardwood flooring at my house in Calgary that was damaged by a water leak. Mark, promised to me, in person, that the match would be "perfect"... literally. When installed for a cost of $25k, the wood didn't even have the right finish (wire brushed instead of satin); the color match was poor too. That said, we were tired of living through construction so let it go after they claimed (condescendingly) that the match was "as good as possible". What we didn't realize at the time is that while replacing the trim, their installer sloppily fired a nail through a visible copper water pipe, which caused a slow leak that caused about $10k in damage. When they came to inspect it, they assured me that the pipe "should not have been there", so it was not their fault. They put a nail through a visible pipe and it was the pipe's fault. Overall, they treated us with great disrespect, poor attention to detail, poor professionalism and sloppy work. All at premium pricing. I'd avoid this company at all costs. read more

I recently had new flooring installed in my home by CDL. Dave Larsen was my sales rep and was very knowledgable and helpful in selecting the vinyl planking that was perfect for my needs.The installers arrived on time, were very particular and efficient in the installation and were happy to answer any questions I had. They did a thorough cleanup before they left. My floors look awesome and I'm very happy with them. I would definitely refer CDL to my family and friends. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The installers stole about $500 worth of flooring from us. So sketchy! They ended up admitting to it when confronted and it was returned but I'm sure it wasn't the first time this has happened. We contracted this company for laminate in the kitchen and hallway, transitioning to various floors in other upstairs rooms. Although it was not the least expensive quote, the rep did prepare it professionally and had good follow-up skills. Upon signing, the rep encouraged us to please let him know about anything that we were not happy with. The install was done on two seperate days with a week inbetween. This was not ideal obviously, having a house half finished for a week. After each day, there was an issue - the first day the workers left a mess, and after the job was complete, there was an issue with transitions from carpet to laminate - in both cases, the rep was not apologetic at all and even made it out to be my problem. The product was good and the installers did help me out with some issues they did not necessarily need to, however the price was a bit high and I had to spend more money after the fact to fix a problem that I felt was not my issue. Not a disaster, but I won't be going back there. read more

Have used them for a couple floor purchases (laminate and vinyl). We did so out of convenience of their location (Beacon Hill) but we have discovered that they are a bit overpriced, especially their installation service. Also, if you order anything for pickup at the Beacon Hill store, you actually have to drive all the way down to Heritage in the south to pick it up because they are only a show room. The staff in the store weren't very helpful in scheduling an install (again have to talk to south store), and after taking a day off work for the installer to come, they didn't show. Store called to schedule for the next day, assuming it should be no issue to just take another day off. The second installer was an hour and fifteen minutes late and the install job could have lined up better with the walls. Not terrible, but have seen better jobs. All in all, I'll drive and look around town given that they don't seem to excel in either customer service or installation service and they seem to be a bit over-priced. read more

Please save yourself a headache and shop elsewhere. I can't begin to tell you the hassles. First the carpet was delivered and it was the wrong colour. At first, they said it would only cost ME the price of two installations. after multiple phone calls, they agreed to 'swallow the cost' of their mistake. We waited 2-3 weeks for the right colour to come in while we walked around on the house in our slippers on a sub-floor. When the installation date came, my husband took the day off work and nobody showed up. They said they would come tomorrow. He took another day off. They arrived around 10:00 to get started. The installers were good and I had no issues with the quality of carpet. The hardwood arrived and was too moist to install (I understand this issue) so we waited the weekend, then we waited another weekend, and then 10 days later, and two more days off work, they started to install it. The install team mentioned that the nosing pieces didn't match the floor and we should send them back. The sales person has said they tried the manufacturer and that is the best they can do. At this time, we have no nose pieces on our floor. The culminating event was this weekend, when they went ahead and charged 16K to our credit card without letting us know they were doing this (as we assumed we would pay the remaining balance when the job was done) We did not get to see a bill before we were charged and actually found out from the bank that the bill was processed. Job started in August. Today is Dec 7th and still not done. Shop elsewhere. read more

We purchased 5500 sq ft of Dansk Hardwood from CDL. We started to have issues when the hardwood was installed with delaminating and the dried appearance of the engineered hardwood. Neither CDL (Colin Haugrud) or Dansk Rep (Garry Wutzke) would stand behind the product they manufacture and sell. I expected more for a $50,000 order. I would never buy engineering hardwood from this company as they definitely do not stand behind their product. read more

I do not recommend this company. My business partner and I visited this location a couple of weeks ago to look at custom carpet tiles for our office. We did let her know renovations were now finished and would love to get going right away once she was able to provide us with an accuarte quote. She asked if one of their staff could visit our office right away to see what was involved and we mentioned anyday would be great. Two weeks later after leaving our business cards and direct numbers with her, we did not hear from her ever since. Not a great way to do business! read more

Welcoming showroom - huge selection. Our flooring consultant, HILLARY BENEY, made a home visit and easily determined our needs and expectations. Unable to make a final decision, HILLARY ordered several samples within the colour and pattern range. No pressure to make our decision. Final results exceeded our expectations, both in colour and pattern. Installers were punctual and efficient. We have some further carpet requirements and will definitely call HILLARY. My review is for the CDL in Beacon Hill. This company does have a wide variety of products but I would like to share my issue with them. I purchase tile for my house in June knowing I was going to install the tile myself in November. I originally wasn't going to buy the tile as I wasn't installing it till November I just wanted to get an idea of color scheme and tile thickness. After talking with the salesman he told me you can just buy it now as you can always return it, he also said buy more than you need as you can always return it. Well I was done the install in December and rather than battling xmas shoppers I decided to wait till first week in January to return the tile. Well they now tell me I can't return any of it as it is too late and their supplier won't take it back. They won't do anything for me just tell me the tile is mine, customer is the one that gets screwed in this deal! I also want to comment on the salesman, he constantly told me to wait while new people came into the store, they must work on commission, at first I was okay with it but after the third time it really annoyed me. I am not impressed with the customer service at this company at all, stay away! read more

If you want nothing but problems, to be lied to and have them send a subcontractor to your home unannounced while you are in a towel (and refuses to leave when asked), by all mean use this company. If you want excellent customer service, a professionally laid hardwood floor and truthful, honest employees, go any where else! I would love to let you know all about my horrible experience with this company. Their solution to correct problems is a joke. Wish I never used them and will never use them in the future. My goal is to now ensure no one else goes through the horror I went through and never hires them!! read more

We contracted CDL to repair the carpet in our office and change several caps or transitions that went from our carpet hallway onto Lino in our operatories. First, it took a long time for them to get here- several more weeks than we were told they would be starting. When the installer did finally come, he didn't have the transitions he was supposed to install. Several weeks later, the installer used transitions which were too high, resulting in our inability to close our staff room door, and one wasn't glued down properly. An employee came by over 2 weeks ago to look at the situation, and said he would contact me within a few days to organize repairs.....I am still waiting, even though they did not have to wait to get paid. read more

This is the worse business we ever dealt with. They ask for 50% downpayment for a carpet they have in stock, then they want the balance of 90% two days prior the installation and then they sell your carpet to somebody else...In our case, we said we didn't like to give our mastercard info by phone and we would have dropped by the next day. That's when they called us saying they sold our carpet by mistake to somebody else.. After that, they offered a discount for the inconvenience, but they wanted us to pay the balance still 2 days prior the installation... we wanted to end this unprofessional and poor business and get refunded. When we dropped by for the refund in our mastercard the female person made another mistake, giving $270.00 more than it was supposed to be. Honestly, we didn't noticed, since the numbers where just inverted and looked ok. She called us immediately to go there and refund them that amount. We said we would go when it could be more convenient for us to drive up there. She called another couple of times and we said we would go, but in our convenient time. Then, she withdrew the $ 270.00 from our mastercard without our permission. We noticed that the very next day. They kept almost our $5,000.00 downpayment for nearly 2 months and behaved as above said... Unbelievable! All stores ask for a 10% down payment and the balance after a week the installations has been done... read more
