Both of them went on to highly selective schools afterwards and had a common issue for TMS graduates-they were a year+ ahead of their peers. The students there are academically advanced because they understand the material more deeply than through typical teaching methods. They also learn to be part of a community and to relate to the broader world. The proof is in the pudding: one of ours went to a selective college at 16 and the other is getting straight As at a competitive private high school. I can't say enough about how strong this tiny school is.

Having watched my grandchildren develop independent learning skills such as setting goals, how to start and enjoy working on a project for the pride of completion, I came to realize that "motivation" is learned. Having seen how very different students with different abilities can together thrive to their individual potential while feeling good about themselves, I came to appreciate Childtown's excellent and experienced teachers. After having worked as a lead teacher Montessori Children's House located in Warminster, I love all…read moremy students and did my best as a teacher. However, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience recommend this school. In comparison to other Montessori schools, the quality here falls short. The school operates on a very limited budget for education, resulting in a lack of essential classroom resources and a deficiency in authentic Montessori materials in the toddler class, such as practical life, math, and language materials. Instead, teachers are advised to purchase cheap supplies from dollar stores. I had to request parents to provide practical life materials like fruit and vegetables for lessons. Unfortunately, when we ran out of materials and the children were eager to engage, I found myself apologizing, explaining that we lacked these resources due to no weekly budget in the class - such situations compromise the authenticity of the Montessori approach and create challenges in delivering quality education. Moreover, the cost-cutting measures extend to the parents, who are required to provide snacks, water, and even plastic bags for the whole class on a monthly basis. The school fails to provide basic supplies like plastic bags for diaper changes, forcing teachers to borrow from each other. The frequency of fundraising events and requests for parental contributions raises questions about the allocation of funds. When it comes to safety, the school placed a much older child who frequently hurt the younger children in the toddler class. We experienced instances such as a child pushing five children consecutively on the head. Two teachers in my class reported the issue to the head of school, who responded with "I can't deal with it now, I am busy" and often shrugged off similar events. This lack of concern for the safety and well-being of the children in the school is deeply troubling. Furthermore, the hiring practices are questionable, with individuals who are not capable of working in a childcare setting or a lead teacher who doesn't have any training background in Montessori education being brought on board. Additionally, the treatment of employees is disappointing. Upon tending my resignation, the company unjustly reduced my pay rate without informing me and prematurely terminated my contract, depriving me of entitled paid holidays. In summary, it is sad to witness how this company prioritizes PROFIT over the well-being of its students and employees. Prospective parents and educators should be aware of these facts before considering this establishment.

I can't say how lucky and blessed we feel to have entered our child into such an establishment. He used to go to another, very nice, daycare, which I referred to as "supervised arts and crafts". However, she still needed to work on some of her fine motor skills. When we got there on the first day, she was EXPECTED to know how to hang up her own coat with a hanger in a closet. She was only four years old at the time, and had never done anything like that before. As the parent, I tried to show her what to do, so she would know how to hang it herself in the future. However, when I tried demonstrating, I got scolded by the teacher for showing her what to do! I let that slide, and she soon learned on how to hang her own coat etc. But, after that, the shenanigans continued on. My daughter complained that the two teachers yelled a lot, were not compassionate, and would not help her if she needed help with classwork. One time, they were doing a handwriting activity of some kind. My daughter did not understand the directions given in the book. Like any student, she decided to ask the teacher for help and to explain the directions so that she could do the assignment. The teacher yelled at her and told her to figure it out for herself, even though she had already tried to and was very confused! They told her she wasn't allowed to go out for recess until she had figured out what to do. My daughter eventually told me what had gone on and I decided to contact the school. The teachers told me that she might be "developmentally delayed" or even have special needs. Keep in mind, this was a 4 year old! This is all because she asked for directions on an assignment!! I am happy to say now, that she is going into her Junior year of High school taking all AP and Honors classes and does not have special needs. Every child learns at their own pace, and I thought that was what Montessori school promoted. I was sadly incorrect, especially about this preschool.

There were multiple incidents of bullying and/or kids just misbehaving and the school not handling those situations properly. I had no false hope that every kid would act like an angel 100% of the time and believe I was realistic in hoping that if and when a child would not behave well, the teachers would know how to handle it- boy, was I wrong! My daughter was scratched, pushed, hit, had her leg stood on by a boy (to which the teacher just told the other kid not to do it bc my daughter didn't like it.... Because so many people would) The straw that broke the camels back was: my husband arrived to pick up my daughter and noticed a bump/bruise on her head. He asked the 3 teachers at the door what happened. They all said they didn't know. Our daughter told us that a boy (who had done other things to her in the past and sounded to be an overall behavioral issue), hit her in the head with a stick on the playground. I asked if a teacher saw. She said no. She said she told a teacher and that teacher put the kid in timeout. Ok, fine. BUT, she happened to be one of the teachers at the door that said she didn't know what happened to my daughter.... In all the time my daughter went yo the school, we felt they operated in the dark. We never received an email about any incidents and when we brought it to her teachers attention, he said he would look into it and get back to me. Never did. After this last incident, they also said they were going to investigate and interview the teachers and get back to me with their findings. They never did. It became very obvious to me that this school was all about collecting $$, but not providing even the basic service of safety, not to mention an education. I am not an unreasonable individual, and if they had just communicated when things happened and told me how they remedied it, I would have been ok. Send your child elsewhere..... there are plenty of good schools out there. This is not one of them.

The school admin wasn't interested in fixing the setbacks experienced by parents ( plural because I had happened to speak with many more former parents about their bad experiences). Still, they weren't willing to speak up because they were hoping for a better review from the school as the kids went to private. My son's teacher was obnoxious; she had no respect for anyone. She applauded kids who were socially outranking each other and didnt appreciate the introverts or slow speakers. As a bilingual family, we were frowned upon, and our son's personality was constantly pushed around as a delay or blaming it because we were bilingual. Our interactions with the school during the parent meetings were dry. There was zero compassion and interest in your child's attitude. Extremely short days and holidays took a significant toll on us because we never felt our kid had a constant school day to settle, make friends, or learn anything. The Montessori concept is working in silo for most hours of the day; I noticed my son would pick the wrong items to match or do something terrible that wouldn't get corrected because Montessori meant independence. I witnessed this when I was there for Mother's Day. My heart is sad and angry at the same time as I type this, but I am thrilled that my eyes and brain worked at the right time before we made a mess with our son's life.
