Its a large open space with a beautiful bronze of Ernest Hemmingway in a central commanding spot in front of the bar with a wall mural depicting the " Old Man And The Sea" as a backdrop which seemed fitting in his honor & set the stage for fun. Floor to ceiling bookshelves are placed strategically throughout the room to give it that cozy library , artsy writer vibe. It was fairly crowded, our particular bartender was rather brusque and neither helpful or that friendly. Because you can't actually see the cocktail menu until you actually make it up to the bar it's hard to know what you want and they want you to order quickly. Anyway, my husband, of course, had to have a traditional daiquiri , which was premade, not chilled and frankly boring and way too sweet. I on the other hand, tried an old-fashioned and it was delicious. Next we sampled a flight of the Papa Pillar distillery Rums , and a couple of them were absolutely delicious. then we moved on.... Quick tip, I guess try to look at their menu online so that by the time you make it up to the bar, you know exactly what you want. And don't order the premade daiquiri It's un impressive.

This place instantly gave us the kind of local Keys vibe you hope to find but usually don't stumble into that easily. We walked in and ended up hanging out with a group of locals who worked around the Key West area. Everyone was incredibly friendly, gave us awesome beer recommendation...all of which were fantastic...and then started sharing insider tips on dinner spots and some of the best-kept secrets in the Keys. It felt less like stopping at a brewery and more like getting welcomed into the community. The beer itself was outstanding with plenty of variety, and we'll definitely be back tomorrow...not just for more recommendations, but because the beer was genuinely that good. If you're looking for a true taste of local flavor, great people, and excellent beer, this is an absolute must-stop when visiting the Keys.

And bonus, it's not only a bar, but also a liquor store with an awesome selection of wines and spirits. This bar definitely has a locals vibe. It's small , dark and cozy and the small tables with velvet chairs are very welcoming. We loved it so much. We came back for a second night. We tried the Maria Rita, which was a reposado tequila with fresh lemon, lime, hibiscus, and habanero, perfect version of a margarita. We also tried blowing smoke up your glass, this was made with Papa Pilar, dark rum, pineapple, fresh lime, house made basil syrup & tiki bitters. Absolutely fabulous. We also tried their deviled eggs each topped with unique toppings like trout row, bacon, and scallions. They were absolutely fabulous. They also have a great selection of charcuterie, Key nuts which you can order with different flavor, profiles, caviar, olives & peppers. Also, the most generous happy hour I've ever heard of from 12 to 6 PM every day. Don't miss out on this little jewel when in Key West.
