First night in Tahoe and this place did not disappoint…read more It's a casual order at the register situation but we came in as a big group with kids, all trying to figure out what everyone wanted, so naturally it was a little chaotic. Someone came over to help take our order and she was so incredibly helpful and patient with us. Really set the tone for the whole meal. The food was so good. Pizza was the clear star of the show but the pasta was pretty solid too. And they have wine which I always appreciate, so we grabbed a bottle for the table and it was a really lovely dinner overall. Only heads up is that parking can be a bit of a challenge. We had to circle a few times before finding a spot so just plan for that. But totally worth it once you're inside.

Many times in life it's the simple things…read more Along the Truckee River there's a gentleman that takes rocks from the river and creates small sculptures of people and animals. He manages to balance these various sized river rocks to make his creations. It amazes me the size of the sculpture he can produce and how perfect they appear. I'm glad he has the passion and time to make these. I enjoy checking them all out when Sheela and I walk along the Truckee River. It is really disappointing to know that some people thinks it's ok to destroy the works; they are in anyone's way or bothering. Just enjoy.

I love art when it just sort of happens unexpectedly…read more I have been a fan of Mr. Hobo for awhile now as I am a frequent walker along the Truckee Riverwalk. His works are thoughtful, humorous, beautiful and poignant. I really love his reclining people and the little stories each one seems to tell. He is a gifted artist. The creativity of closing, arranging and balancing pieces of river rock to make his sculptures is truly a sight to behold. He does have pieces for sale that have the rocks attached, but most of his displays are completely stacked and balanced. When the water level is low enough, he adds pieces in the river between the Sierra and Virginia Street bridges. This guy Rocks! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

A great place to sit with a lake view high above Tahoe City Beach, in a park designated to honor…read morethe heritage of the city through informational placards that celebrate the history. You can walk a trail to the beach below. The park has picnic tables, beach access, and tone block benches that sit like a small amphitheater, but the star of the show is a 12.5 foot mother bear with cubs, covered in about 200,500 pennies. If I know my math, that's like $41,536 pesos. According to Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson, who met at Burning Man for which this 2017 art piece was made, they "encourage interaction with public art because it is approachable and provocative. The materials we use seem from a distance to be standard coatings like paint or steel, but it is on closer examination that the viewer becomes a participant, discovering that the art is covered in whimsical materials like pennies or marbles. These materials have nostalgic connections, they are delightful to touch, perhaps make a sound or pass light." I look at it and think that makes cents.
