Well I've found another comparable find, the adjacent Chassagne-Montrachet wines. Notably, the Domaine Ramonet Chaumees 2004. Equally complex, mineral, floral and smooth all at the same time. I can't say that you won't pay a pretty penny for it, but a Grand Cru is designated so for a reason.

At her suggestion I ended up with an unfamiliar domaine form St Aubin that was very good and reasonably priced. I found this whole experience to be pleasant and unpretentious unlike a few other experiences at local wine sellers. There was a nice selection available for tasting and covered the whole area around Chassagne-Montrachet. I wholeheartedly recommend Caveau as a place to stop and get to know many small producers in this area. I was looking to discover a small local producer and when I returned to my hotel and asked the owner to put the wine (white) in the fridge to chill a bit she remarked what an interesting bottle and asked where I found it. High praise from a local I believe.
