Hudgens offers a great variety of artist's works in many different formats. Those artists who contribute a great amount of work to the center even have their own sections dedicated to their works. Although I am not too big on "art galleries," I did find the Hudgens center to be somewhat interestingly captivating. Some of the paintings actually made me hallucinate just looking at them, because of the vivid trance causing design the artist created. I really liked the metal sculpture outside the building created by Rita Blitt named "The Passionate Gesture Retrospective Exhibition."

I have to admit, it wasn't nearly as messy as I expected--they provided everything we needed and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. My granddaughter had a blast, and thanks to the wonderful employees, she gives this place 10 stars. And, said "We will definitely be back"!!! For me, it was the perfect stress-relief activity and such a great bonding experience. We went at noon, so it was peaceful and relaxed, which made it even better. There are amazing group deals on their website as well as some more information about the business! Melissa, co-owner, was there the day we went in and she was so so welcoming. We were supplied ponchos and shoe coverings as well as lockers for our things and even hair nets and accessories. They thought of it all! Melissa explained everything to us and made sure we were comfortable before leaving us to our creativity. I absolutely loved the fact that we were always checked on as well as our paint and cleaning waters. Melissa would make encouraging comments I needed because I for one am not creative. LOL I absolutely cannot wait to drop by again and bring others because I definitely feel it's a very special little place. The vibe just gives and I'm so grateful to know a place like this exists.

Even after we became loud, and drunk, they continued to keep us on track. We left with beautiful works of art, and lots of fuzzy memories. It's a painting class, so don't wear fancy clothes. Also, bring everything you need - plates, cups, silverware, napkins. If your drinks or food need to stay cold bring a cooler. They do not have a fridge. I do not consider myself to be a artist, even in the basic sense of the word. But, the paint strokes are explained, and they will help you if you need it.

They gave a lot of time for the slower painters like me who are brand new to painting. It was an awesome group experience for my family and me. The only thing that I'm knocking one star off for is that I think it would have helped for them to tell people to bring their own glasses for wine when they emailed everyone saying to come early. And to wear old clothes that you won't get paint on. I think that those two sentences that can be emailed to everyone will go a long way. The painting I did was amazing too! It looks great and will be very sentimental to me in the future.

When I put the skirt on the next morning the zipper slider fell off. I needed the skirt to work so I tried to zip the skirt which was working and then the zipper split open. The skirt was the right size but the zipper malfunctioned. Unfortunately I was unable to wear the skirt. I was able to carefully undo the busted zipper. The next Wednesday I took the skirt in with the zipper pieces, tag and my receipt. Initially the owner would not allow me to exchange the skirt because side she said I broke the zipper. I told her the product is defective and I just wanted to exchange the item. The lady finally calmed down and agreed I could exchange the item. This should have been a no brainer since I was within the seven day exchange window. As I'm looking for a replacement item, the lady decides to charge me $10 for the exchange. I told her I would NOT pay her anything to exchange her defective product. Thats price gauging!!! I left with the skirt and will have the zipper replaced at my local cleaners. Trying to support black owned businesses is often not worth the headache. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!

Sad because I went there to support Black business and on the first day of Kwanzaa and all they care about is the money... CAPITALISTS!!!!! Dec 24th I went shopping to buy our family's 1st Kinara for our first Kwanzaa Celebration. We found one but I wanted my Sweetheart to see it first and he was at work. The owner told me they would be open until 10pm the next day and he would hold it. The next day I went there at 6pm with a sick child and the mall was closing and they were already closed. I called the number on the door and the owner apologized and said they messed up and didn't realize they were closing early and said they would come in on Christmas to sell it to me and call me since I was only 10 min away. NO CALL! Gave your word but Ok no problem it's Christmas. Today Dec 26th at 10am she calls me and says she has it and apologized for not calling Christmas Day. I said ok we want it please hold it and we will be there today before you close. She said okay she would put it away. We get there at 5pm and it's gone. Owner says well We called at 10 this morning and someone else wanted to buy it. WHAT!!! Just say you won't hold it. FOUL!!!! Don't give your word if you are really all about the money. And had the nerve to have a dismissive attitude. No KINara for our first day of our first family Kwanzaa. How we do our own. Sad part is we were going to get it from someplace else but I gave my word and they were holding it for us.... damn shame! No INTEGRITY
